I think Bale is severely underrated in TDK.

Yes he is. There's so many strong performances in TDK, and especially with a giant sized scenery chewer like Ledger's Joker among them, some of the more somber and brilliant performances get underrated or under stated. Bale's is one of them.

He was terrific in TDK. If that's "going through the motions" then I wish more leading superhero actors would go through them, too.

Much as I love Heath's Joker, my favorite scene of the movie is at the end with Bruce/Dent/Gordon. That ending is just awesome. Zimmer's music was perfect. I always get chills when Bale turns to Oldman and you know he's about to sacrifice himself. The ending hasn't been topped in this genre since 2008.

In a way, it's kind of amusing yet cruel that the biggest movie in Bale's career was the one where he was completely overlooked.

That depends. TDK made more domestically, but TDKR was bigger worldwide. His highest grossing movie is TDKR and he was the star of that.

Let me chip in to the the dark knight love. I love the climactic action scene more and more each year. Where Batman is smart, resourceful and a multitasker in taking down the goons (disguised as Doctors) while saving the hostages (disguised as goons) while ascending up the video gamish levels to meet the Joker. I find it a lot more enjoyable and interesting than yet another "stop the ticky tocky bomb lol" plot device and the, frankly, tired chase scene that accompanied it. Don't get me wrong, chase scenes are rad. But the climactic chase scene in Rises was a bore, especially after the Tumbler chase, the transport chase, and a better chase scene earlier in the freaking movie.

Nothing to add except .

Which chase scene are you talking about? The tumbler chase with the bat and cat-pod is the last chase scene, lol.

Edit: Nevermind, I just read that wrong, lol.

Anyways, I will admit the final chase in TDKR was a bit of a let down upon my first viewing. But on repeat viewings I've actually grown to appreciate it quite a bit. It still comes up third after the tumbler chase in BB and the transport chase in TDK, though.

TDKR's final chase grew on me a lot in repeat viewings. Mainly because I adore The Bat and that is its big moment to shine in the movie. To see so much aerial action and have it feel SO real and practical- it's that kind of stuff that really makes the trilogy standout to me. The plane/drone whatever in the BvS trailer immediately looked way more CG-ish in comparison.

The Bat was great. Freaking great! Totally underrated vehicle in the trilogy.

I thought the finale with the Bat was a bore except for that shot that was in one of the trailers.

 I loved that chase, though I must say when it comes to chases in TDKR I preferred the post-stock exchange chase. That moment when the music really kicks in and the shot of the guy on the ground and his foot just steps into view. :hrt:

The part where Batman and Catwoman pass each other by on The Bat and Bat-pod is absolute bliss for me....again just because of how THERE The Bat feels. The shot from the trailer isn't even my favorite because it's one of the more CG-ones. It's good, photo-realistic CG based on 3D scans, but CG nonethless. The shots where it's just straight up the practical Bat are f**king unreal.

I wanted a CGI fest finale :o

"I got this."

The Bat made a lot more sense to me than the typical bat-wing. There wouldn't be much use for a jet plane when you're just traversing a single city but with a compact hovercraft you could weave around buildings easier.

A batwing, batjet, whatever, will be cool in the new universe if he created it for Superman and **** like that. Maybe a year or two have passed since MOS and that's what Batman has been working on? But yeah, i agree that it doesn't make sense to use that in Gotham City.

The Bat made a lot of sense.

Im open to the new one though, as long as it kicks ass (im sure it will) and doesn't just lay waste to people like the trailer suggests.

Good lawd! I remember watching that in IMAX for the first time and yeah, seeing Batman step onto the screen was a total fanboy geek out moment for me. Then the cops surround him and Batman is standing there in all his bat-glory and zero craps were given. :hmr:

Thirded. It was the weakest chase of the trilogy for me. Plus the whole Batman has to stop another doomsday device, and has an ally driving one of his vehicles to help felt like a poor retread of Begins' ending.

The best chase in TDKR was the Cops going after Batman. I love that one. I loved seeing the twit Foley being made a jackass of by Batman when he thinks he has him cornered in the alley.

^ The Batpod chase in TDKR didn't impress me too much at first, but it grew on me and is definitely one of my favorite parts in the trilogy.

I still remember people in the theatre clapping when they saw Batman on the Batpod, getting ready to use that short lived EMP gun.

I wonder why Nolan got rid of it so quickly. Part of me imagines WB begging him to put in a gadget for the sake of toys, and he obliged, as long as he got to get rid of it as soon as possible.

I was literally 'squeeing' in my seat when Batman looked up at the police surrounding him. I swear he enjoyed it.

My favorite Dark Knight scene: Batman, Gordon, Two-Face at the end.

TDKR scene that sticks with me is probably the cave jump scene with Bruce.
