My favourite scene is from TDK, when Dent and Gordon wait for Batman with bat signal is on Gordon switches off the signal when Batman arrives Dent turns and says "You're hard man to reach"
Yep, I don't think it looks particularly comfortable to have a metal thing on your face but Hardy did a terrific job with his eyes.I had a lot of issues with TDKR, but the acting was not one of them. As said earlier, I thought Hardy did a great job of being able to convey emotions while the majority of his face was covered. I never cared for Bane in the comics, but he made me a convert.
I think the personal issues of Bale didn't appear until well after filming for TDK. The rumors of family arguments didn't appear until he was filming Terminator (this is pure speculation but I guess that's where the rant came from?). From the set pics of TDK he looked either extremely relaxed (joking with Morgan Freeman/Michael Caine) or extremely focused IMO.Oh that TDK ending ("it wasn't") is one of Bale's best acting moments of the entire trilogy, but for the most part I just didn't see the spark in his eyes through the rest of the movie. I know he was having a lot of stress at home during that time, so maybe it affected his performance a bit. With TDKR he seemed to be enjoying it a lot more and had that spark in the eyes again like in BB. I think with TDKR he realized it was his last chance to play Bruce/Bats and he wanted to give 110% for it.
Which chase scene are you talking about? The tumbler chase with the bat and cat-pod is the last chase scene, lol.
Edit: Nevermind, I just read that wrong, lol.
Anyways, I will admit the final chase in TDKR was a bit of a let down upon my first viewing. But on repeat viewings I've actually grown to appreciate it quite a bit. It still comes up third after the tumbler chase in BB and the transport chase in TDK, though.
He was a very old fashioned, machiavellian Bond villain type figure which I always liked. He does get overlooked for the more colorful villains. My favourite scene with him was when he was telling Bruce how his wife had been 'taken' (boom!) and how he understood Bruce's rage. That is great. I think Ras was a bit underrated in the trilogy. I loved his motives and his character had a lot of layers. I suppose he wasn't as flashy as the Joker or Bane, but all in all a great character.
I think the big criticism that Bane received in Rises was that he was too much like Ra's which to me wasn't a problem. I liked how they had infused Ra's al Ghul's philosophy into a militaristic Bane, making him even more dangerous than his predecessor.
The first favorite (heh) part of the trilogy that comes to mind is the Prewitt Building scene in TDK. That entire sequence was simply gold. Batman at his best.
Yep, I almost forgot that it was a more personal attack. Not to mention that Bane was very close to Talia, she who blames Bruce for he father's death.Bane wasn't really that similar to Ra's. He carried the League's mission but the bombastic execution and the vengeance-fueled impetus for it separated him quite a bit. It was an evolution rather than a copy, about punishing Bruce just as much as it was about cleansing the world of Gotham. Ra's motivation for sacking Gotham in Begins didn't actually have anything to do with Bruce himself. If they had never met in that prison cell the LOS would have attacked Gotham all the same, the only difference being Bruce couldn't have stopped it. To be honest the basic goals of each of the villains, Ra's and Joker and Bane, are pretty much the same: defeat Batman and destroy Gotham. The reasons they do it are what set them apart among other things.
The more I watch TDKR the more I notice the sloppy choreography.
The more I watch TDKR the less I try to think about the sloppy choreography, because I noticed it the first time I watched it.The more I watch TDKR the more I notice the sloppy choreography.
