Leto's Joker hilariously sucks. Good god did they **** it up.

It looks like they went to the Miller well again and semi borrowed the tattooed joker look from miller's batman and robin series.

I don't think it's bad but out of the 3 live action film jokers it is the worst so far for me. It's a little too much honestly. I always felt the "it tries too hard" phrase was strange but it's how i feel.

Snyder had as much to do with designing David Ayer's Joker as Chris Nolan had in Man of Steel's look.

As for the man himself, I like it. I definitely like it. I haven't been so ...taken aback by a villain design like this since...yup, Ledger. I can definitely see it growing on me from a design perspective. And I have no doubt Jared Leto's performance will acquit well with the design, as Ledger' did.


The overreaction is hilarious though. Especially by the idiotic 'purists'.

I don't know of course, but I assumed that Snyder would have at least some say on what the Joker and other characters look like, since he is like the unofficial godfather of the DCCU. I am not famiiar with Ayer but I read some people say the new look was "very Ayer" or something like that so I guess this is all on Ayer.

Anyway, I have very mixed feelings about it. I guess I like the hair, and the glove...

Digging the punk rock look. First thing I noticed on Miller's announcement cover: "Master Race"

Eh, take out some of the tattoos and it would look better, IMO. He will be prominently in a purple suit for most of the movie; so this shouldn't be a problem.

I see what you're saying. They kind of took the clown out of it too IMO. I don't see a clown psycho. I just see psycho. I still think Leto will do well, but not a fan of the look. I was one of the few who loved The first Ledger pic too, but I saw a demented clown there.

Right, this is the whole suicide squad deal. If that's the case then his tattoos should be covered still.

I agree, and I was also one of the people who loved Ledger's reveal.

To me, this is far less of a Joker than we have ever seen in any medium. The only thing that makes him "The Joker", is that green hair. And maybe that one purple Michael Jackson glove?

I don't know. I really hated Heath's first Joker reveal, with the overly smeared "lipstick" and extreme close-up that didn't show his hair. I don't really think he wound up looking very much like that first reveal.

This Leto reveal shows us much more of him, and as I said in the other thread, I would LOVE it without the forehead tattoo and grillz in the teeth. Those two things alone are really bringing me down big-time.

Remember the huge contrast between the first Ledger pic and the ones after? How much more 'joker'-ish they were?

You should wait before you declare something with such absoluteness that you may later regret.

Its funny because I was fine with the ledger casting, fine with the first reveal and fine with leto's casting. This picture is probably the first negative feeling I've had. Who knows, maybe after seeing some footage I'll change my mind. As of now though, not impressed.

 

[The Joker]

Good lord did they make a huge misfire with Leto's Joker look. I mean we all pre-judged Ledger's first pic, but his was a close up shot of just his face, it didn't even show his green hair, or purple suit or anything.

This Leto one shows him bare chested, covered in tattoos, complete with one on his forehead that says damaged as if we need that spelled out about Joker, not to mention a friggin' tear drop tattoo on his face, too, and he's got silver front teeth, wearing one purple glove and one bare hand. It's like someone from a Joker themed punk rock band.

If appearances are anything to go by I think it's safe to say Heath's legacy as Joker is not in any jeopardy of being one upped.
