It's kind of funny...when Leto was cast, everyone kind of collectively went "Great choice, I can totally see it!". Total opposite of the Ledger reaction.

This first photo is now the "WTF Heath Ledger nooooooo!!!" moment for this Joker. It's as if they're intentionally trying to lower our expectations.

I personally never had that reaction to Heath though. I was more intrigued because I had no idea whatsoever how he would pull it off, I literally could not picture it in my head. Seeing this photo of Leto...I feel like we can kind of start picturing it, and I'm not really liking the picture it's painting. Of course, there's still plenty of room for him to knock it out of the park but right now my excitement for his Joker just dropped.

Hahah Trav, i couldn't agree more.

He REALLY looks like he's the new member of Avenged Sevenfold.

Now I just hope they don't use Leto in a solo Batflick. Crossing my fingers for Clayface or Freeze.

Like I said in another thread, at least there are no transphobic comments. Unlike the sad homophobic overtones in Ledger bashing.

Don't care much for the silver teeth, or the Michael Jackson like wearing one glove bit either.

I think David Ayer and Zack Snyder like flexing their muscles and watching Sons of Anarchy a little too much.

His eyes look really good, and I guess he has pale skin(perma-white) and green hair, but everything else just doesn't do it for me. Even though they're paying homage to TKJ, by putting him in the same pose, it just doesn't have the same affect.

Even his green hair looks like he got it professionally colored. Everything it just a little too vibrant, except for his makeup around the eyes. That looks good/natural. But the hair, the tattoos, the pose...it just looks a bit too contrived. I know people have said it before, but it looks like a cosplayer paying homage to The Joker, more than an actual look at The Joker.

That's another thing, the skin tone is too pale. He looks like a vampire or an albino.

I actually think the skin looks fine, it's just everything else is so vibrant, that it may appear more pale.

But personally, I don't have a problem with the skin.

I'm OKAY with the skin, though I do miss the stark white contrasting with the bright red lips. I'll reserve judgment on that till I see the final look and final color correction of the movie. I think the green hair will probably look darker in the movie though, which would be a plus. Heath's hair was a very light almost yellowish shade in reality, yet in the movie it looked greener (minus the interrogation scene when it was under harsh lighting). Almost positive they do that to compensate for the darkening that will likely happen in post.

I'm not sure what you guys are seeing, but he looks pretty damn white to me. Not in the sense that he's covered in white powder or makeup a la Nicholson or Romero, but his skin literally looks white.

Also, I think part of the reason he might not appear to be to be stark white is because the whole image is filled with with the color white, including a polar white background. There are no clothes on him, nor a realistically colored background to highlight the contrast of his white skins against other solid colors, as would be the case in the movie itself or even real life.

That's a good point. Although he is going to be wearing a white suit in the movie, but maybe a little contrast is necessary then.

His skin doesn't look white, just very pale. But im fine with that part.

Im OK with the hair too, even though i admit that it looks too pro. This Joker spent a lot of time in tattoo shops and hair salons.

Snyder's comic book universe doesn't seem to be about 'function' or caring too much about it. As long as it looks cool. I know im passing judgement with a statement like that, but it's just how i feel. It's like "Joker has green hair, all green, give it to him. We want him edgy and freakish, pushing the boundaries of past Joker since it has to be different...so give him tattoo's" (while not caring about the exact tattoo's he has or why he would ask for them). The suits, the vehicles. I get the feeling that it's just about the visual appeal. I guess that's a good change for some people coming off of Nolan's where everything had to be explained. I dont mind it but when it leads to stupid decisions like this Joker look, then yeah..it's a little annoying.

Snyder's favorite word is "awesome". I dont know how many times he can use it in a sentence. That's all he ever seems to care about. If it's "awesome". Fun guy, but he's like a teenage fanboy. Maybe we need that for a shared universe of comic book heroes, but it's still funny. Sometimes i roll with it, sometimes i facepalm.

He's horribly pale. He looks like a blood donor who couldn't say no lol. It's a terrible shade of white for the Joker to have.

I'm not a big fan of his skin either. I'm not real keen on this first photo, but I just want to wait and see how Jared slips into the character of the Joker. We all know Heath pretty much threw himself into the role 100%. That's what I'm really curious about, now that we have seen how Jared's Joker is going to look.

Jared is pretty much a method actor, and i have no doubt that he'll give it 100 percent, transforming into this version of the Joker. There's no doubt in my mind that EVERYBODY will like his look a lot more once we see the full "joker" suit. But this pic sucks.

The voice is what im interested in/worried about. And if the odd dumb tattoo will completely throw me off even if the full costume is dope.

Yeah, I agree. I was very much on board with what we could see from the leaked blurry phone pics, but in an effort to hold off on the full reveal they released a crappy picture that got a bad reaction. Oh well, it happens.

I just hope that forehead tattoo was digitally inserted (God knows why) like some people are trying to argue.
