The Dark Knight Rises The TDKR General Discussion Thread - - - - - - - Part 156

I don’t know, I have a hard time believing that Bruce would stay retired for the rest of his life. But maybe he could have come back to Gotham in a mentor role to John Blake?

Maybe this is just me trying to convince myself that there are more stories to tell in the Nolan world hahaha
Nolan Batman was not like in the Comics Nolan Batman retired for several years after the Dark Knight he was a Batman for a short time his Story was already finished in Dark Knight Rises If Bale Batman appears for me he will be a Variant that exist in the DC Multiverse but not the same Batman from the Nolan Movies

Indeed, it was great to have a beginning, middle, and end.

Batman is lucky to have a series that was consistently successful, great quality, and loved all the way through. And I'd rather not tamper with that.

He was Batman for quite awhile.

I believe it. Hard to put on the suit with Anne Hathaway snatching your soul every night.

Just booked my tickets to see TDK and TDKR at the BFI IMAX (UK) in June.

Haven't seen them at the cinema since the last time I was at the BFI in 2015.

I had just literally seen all 3 at home a few weeks ago, but who counts at this point :funny:

I'm really trying to resist pre-ordering those right now. I know they're just gonna sit in my drawer till who knows when because I have no room. Heck, I still need to build a shelf for my growing 4k collection. ahhh what do i do

I plan on getting them all, but I only pre-ordered Bats and the Joker. Mainly because those are the two I’m sure would go the fastest.

The only way I start buying Hot Toys is if I start making Musk-level money.

Otherwise I’m willing to overlook whatever detail these ones might lack.

..my MAFEX Joker and (Begins) Batman look better than those, hell my Movie Masters of Two-Face and Scarecrow even look better and those came out in 2008.

My MM-Bane from 2012 isn't great, but that McFarlane is rough as well.

Idk. That Joker is the best I’ve seen for a price that isn’t, frankly, ****ing insane.

I will admit, that Two-Face looks pretty iffy.

I have very few action figures whether they're Hot Toys or 6inch ones. But I do fully endorse the Beast Kingdom Dark Knight/Rises Batman and The Joker.

Outside of Hot Toys, these are the best you can get IMO. Batman's suit is a combination of fabric and armor plates, with a wired cape. Joker's outfit is fully fabric.

I love that he comes with a bazooka. One of my favorite moments was when the SWAT Cop tells Dent that Joker needs something a lot bigger to get through the armored van and next thing we see Joker get handed a bazooka lol.

Pre-ordered the whole McFarlane TDK wave.

They all look amazing and no way am I skipping on that BAF Bane.

That scene is just brilliant. "What is that? What is that, a bazooka?"

I've never been able to justify coughing up the dough for Hot Toys or anything comparable. I would love to, but I just have enough expensive hobbies as it is...so they remain a "if I ever win the lottery" kinda thing for me.

These McFarlane ones obviously don't look as real life accurate, but for a fraction of the cost I can put these on a a shelf and it would add a little joy and flare to my space. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but very tempted to pre-order. Also, was browsing Reddit and there's a coupon code for 10% off in case anyone doesn't know: MTS10 or FAN10

This book is the other thing that's been on my list as far as a Batman-related treat for myself. They just updated it with The Batman, so the newest edition is current up to now. Amazon.com

Edit: Just impulse bought the toys. Weeeee!

There's a shot or two in this film that I want to highlight - I don't have screenshots, but.

When Batman flies off with Catwoman, there's a shot where you see the Bat flying through the city, with moody music overplaying, and we get another shot inside the Bat and it shows Catwoman and Batman, with her looking out at the city.

The almost all black shot, with her contrasting red lips, with the moody music and the city - it's all very Blade Runner.

Love it.

3:02-3:11.

Always loved that shot too. Good call on Blade Runner. It also weirdly always makes me feel like this was Nolan's (VERY different) take on the "can you read my mind?" sequence in the Superman/Lois flight scene in Superman: The Movie. Not that she's falling in love or anything but it just always reads to me like Catwoman is kinda of wowed by the view up there and maybe a little starstruck actually meeting Batman for the first time. I feel like it's an implied but never stated thing in the movie that Selina took some inspiration from Batman with her Catwoman'ing. I guess just knowing the influence of the Donner films on Nolan, my mind goes to that. It's a nice moment that says a lot with no dialogue and (thankfully) no over the top voiceover. :oldrazz:

What gets me is that I can tell you definitively that my favourite all-time Batman film is Batman Returns.

But...when someone asks me what my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th favourites are - I know it's this trilogy BUT what I cannot tell you is the order, definitively.

My favourite Batman film of the Dark Knight Trilogy is whichever I happen to have seen most recently or be watching currently.

Me during Batman Begins: "Oh, this is my favourite one..."
Me during The Dark Knight: "Oh, this is my favourite one..."
Me during The Dark Knight Rises: "Oh, this is my favourite one..."

each film in this trilogy are truly GREAT films on their own. You can sit down and watch any of the 3, and take away something special from the experience. TDK is the obvious choice, but I really can understand any of the other 2 being chosen as the favorite. Hell, when I left the theater after seeing TDKR, I remember initially placing it above TDK. My emotions were running high haha, but it's certainly only below TDK and BB now.
