The Wonder Woman Costume Thread - - Part 11

Might be the same sword in the promo image.

I really like how ... "substantial" the lasso looks. It's not some dainty piece of golden thread, it looks like it has some real "weight" to it and that it could be indestructable and capable of binding any foe.

It also looks "heavy" enough for it to be used as an offensive weapon or for defensive purposes if Wonder Woman lost her shield and wrapped it around her forearm instead.

I really wish someone had taken "rear" pictures so we could see the shield and sword better! Maybe we'll finally start seeing some more promotional images and merchandise with the release of the trailer and these clearer images of all of the key costumes.

I need this to be my avvy someone make this a reality!:ilv:

Damn... I really think that costume is just as perfect as can be. I am still liking the idea of multiple outfits for her solo though.

I really think it couldn't be any more perfect than it is. Pretty much everything I wanted it to be.

Any rumors on WW's origin in the film? As in where exactly she came from/what is she? I doubt they'd follow along with her comic origin.

Might be the same sword in the promo image.
Mmm. The hilt in the mannequin one is longer and little slim IMO.

Gadot's leg makes it really difficult to confirm it tho.

It's kinda hard to tell the perspective of the sword. How much is the tip forwards or backwards that causes foreshortening.

The longer sword also means she might not use it as often. I really want them to be creative with the lasso and bracelets. For instance, if Superman attacked her with heat-vision, she could redirect the beams onto himself. And the lasso can also be used as a weapon, and an unique one at that.

The handhold looks the same on the design.

EDIT: The best I could do

That's not right. Think about a pencil that's horizontal vs. one that's angled away from you.

You guys have also got to think that there is a good chance they used Photoshop on the sword too. So who knows how it will actually look in live action at this point. It's far too soon to tell.

It's not so different in angle. I'd say it would gain just one inch more.

It's very different. Promo is angled and foreshortened. The WB tour pic is straight on. Imagine it as a cylinder.

Still not so different in angle. Try adjusting the cutting from the new pic in the perspective of the official pic.

Eh, either you see it or you don't. One is isometric view. One is front view. That's a big angle difference.

That WW's costumes true colors are not reveled due to blue hue cast by terrible blue lighting, i tried some hue correction (not much) but this is the color corrected version -

It's the same sword just a different angle in the two pictures.

They probably wanted to give her something she could whirl around her head. It looks dynamic, I suppose, whilst short stabbing weapons often seem less than heroic.

That is true. It makes for a more interesting choreography.

Having watched this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZNZyhNFSaE I think it's a show of skill.

I really like the idea of making Wonder Woman the best of something. Superman is the strongest. Batman is... Batgod. Looks like they're having WW be the best fighter and balancing that out by limiting her flying.

Yup. I actually fought with the first type of sword he is wielding in the video in my younger days.

And I agree. She should be the best and most diverse fighter in the League. Batman should be a master of several martial arts, having developed his own brutal and efficient technique, but Wondy should be skillful with both, various cold weapons and in hand-to-hand combat.

It looks like you might be right. It seems to be the same sword after all.

And now when I look at it better it doesn't look like a two-handed sword, but like a hand-a-half one, which is my favorite type. You can easily use it both ways, with one or two hands and quickly switch from one to another technique.

Blade is still strangely short for such a handle though.

I think Mad Love is right about the perspective, which would account for why the point of the sword appears so rounded in the first image- we are looking down onto it.

There is still the possibility that two different swords have similarly ornamented fittings, however.

If you are referring to her made from clay by Hippolyta and given life by the Olympians origin, that one has already been changed in comics due to the New 52. Producer Charles Roven in an interview already stated that Diana, as per current comics, is the daughter of Zeus.

Now if you are referring to things like the Amazon's or Paradise Isle being changed... I HIGHLY DOUBT that is happening.

I don't mind the demigod origin, as long as the Amazons are Diana's sisterhood of support and Queen Hippolyta being a strong, resilant and caring ruler.

I just noticed she doesn't have the classic silver bracers!
