The dvr stuff is going to be best used while playing multiplayer so I don't see the problem if its hooked up to Live. It's why you buy a xbox to have the best online service and the best multiplayer out there

I'll give you best online service (this gen) but best MP? Eeeeeh, most people on live are complet pricks and make even games I love (Halo) not worth playing.

Halo & Gears multiplayer are not replaceable IMO even though I'm not that big into Halo & although it's usually used as a stick to beat XBox with, 360 is the home of CoD. Being in a party or using mute or not using a mic can help deal with the little ****s but I have a feeling PS4 might be inheriting a lot of these pricks now that it is the cheaper console. For a group of friends the party system is one of the best technological impriovements in console gaming and Sony guys who aren't used to this but have a good group will really see the benefits this upcoming gen.

The online play was fine. The only issue I had with PSN this generation was download speeds for store purchases or game updates. Whenever I was in a game it ran just as well as the 360 did.

Online play on the ps3 was fine... Killzone 2/3 still stands as some of my favorite online play this gen. I honestly think MS has more "younger" players as well.. CoD cheaters/trash talkers for example.

I find this rather debatable. A lot of people upload single player runs or walkthroughs on YouTube, so having that for single player would probably have as much use as multiplayer.

I just wish MS would come out and announce that you don't have to plug in Kinect in order to use X1.

To me it seems there's quite a lot of games that are roughly of the same expected quality so it would definitely depend on which types of games you're interested in getting. But I'd pick from Battlefield 4, Assassin's Creed 4, Destiny, Watch Dogs, The Division, Dead Rising 3, Titanfall & Ryse.

Killer Instinct if you're into beat'em ups & Forza 5 if you're into driving games.

Indeed, the Gears community is probably worse too. I think in some ways the party system kinda ruined Xbox Live unless you had friends....

Party system ruined it, how? Party system is just for you and friends. I think it made it all so much better. I love that I can be in big groups with friends and be doing my own thing

Thats the thing....you can be in a big group of friends...if you have them....but teamwork as a whole doesn't exist anymore because of it IMO.

It's definitely true about more cheats, trash talkers and younger players on XBox Live compared to PSN. But the console being cheaper and being bigger online earlier is what attracted those ****s to Xbox. Many of those won't be upgrading to the $500 Xbox One early (in the same way they stayed away from the $600 PS3) and many will be making the shift to the $100 cheaper PS4.

Also the new reputation system will put all these unpleasant players together leaving decent players to play against decent players.

I'll be using it for single player a lot for certain parts of games, beating final bosses etc. But I don't know how widespread that will be. I think only a tiny percentage of gamers would be interested in making walkthroughs unless its for games where every experience is unique (like Skyrim) but even the worst multiplayer guy wants to record and upload that one time he got a triple kill. t:

Yeah, for guys who didn't already have XBox friends but who wanted to use teamwork or make new friends the party thing put up a barrier. This will probably affect PS4 now in the same way although I personally think the benefits far outweigh the costs. If you want to use teamwork and other team members are willing to use teamwork then they'd probably be willing to join a party if you invited them. If they don't join they probably wouldn't have co-operated anyway. I started with no friends & zero online gaming experience but made loads from playing games with or against people from the very worst communities...Gears, beat'em ups & FIFA. t:

You can turn all functions of the Kinect off at the system level, but it still needs the be plugged in. The OS can be used without using the Kinect, so it's not integral.
