Anyone apart of the OS Preview group? You can add custom backgrounds now. Also.. Invite me to the program. :p

I imagine Best Buy will have some gift card promotion. It's going to have to be more than 50 dollars though. If Kmart is already offering the console for 350 with 60 dollars in points.

yeah. it will be interesting to see what deals BB will offer that week.

someone in the program has to invite you, right?

My friend has been in it since the X1 has released. It's kinda annoying, cause if the update is about the party system, he can't talk to us in a party, cause he's using a different version.

Not sure if this has been posted, but heres IGNs unboxing of the white console. One of my co workers has one preordered and we checked it out the other day and its deff as sleek in person as it is in the video. I just gotta keep telling myself, I don't need it, I don't need it. Altho, it wouldn't be much of a hassle transferring my stuff over now that all my data is on my external HDD. Hmmm....

yeah......keeping your stuff on an external drive would make it easier to transfer, that's for sure.

I wish a future update would let you store games saves on an external drive or USB stick, too.

So Xbox Rewards kicks ass. I went to buy the Evil Within and noticed they had deposited 32 bux into my account. Word.

I have no idea how that works.. Because even when I buy stuff digitally I do t get rewarded for it. I think I got 10 bucks like.. Once.

hey guys, a question.

do unused Gold sub cards ever expire?

cuz I found a couple of 3 and 12 mo cards on my shelf. must have bought them a long time ago but never used them, since I didn't play online much.

they should still be good, right?

They might. Sony's definitely expire.

really?? :(

oh, and do the subs "stack" with each other?

for example, I have a 3 mo, 4 mo, and 12 mo card. The 4 mo card is recent, so that should be good. but the 3 mo and 12 mo cards might be more than a year old.

if I redeemed them all at once, would that give me a total of a 19 mo sub to Gold?

Be advised though, that with the Xbone, games with gold are not permanent. You can only access them if you have a subscription.

So it's really a rental, not a free game.

ah, thanks.

so, Games With Gold on the X1 is just like PS+ games, cuz you lose access to those when your sub expires.

For the Xbox One, you keep them with the 360.

Fortunately, this does have one upside, game developers will make their games free faster.

So, you won't have to wait until 2020 to play Destiny. Okay bad example. But recent good games will be available sooner now.

ah, so you do get to keep the 360 Gold Games?

that's nice.

Never found the issue with losing access to games if you no longer subscribe. Who has an Xbox One.. That is a legit gamer.. Who won't plan on keeping Live?

I suppose that's true. But then they're not really your games. It's kind of like saying Netflix gives you free movies. It doesn't really. It lets you watch movies for a monthly price.

Honestly, I don't care so much, since old games are so cheap now, if I really like them, I'll just buy them. That's the thing, all the games that get released as part of Gold are already dirt cheap. For example, Darksiders 2 costs a few bucks and tax used. And all the Xbone Gold games I have seen are shovelware (though there just aren't that many games available yet, so I somewhat forgive that).

I think this concept is more interesting for Sony, since with their streaming backwards compatibility, they could make very popular PS3 games free for the PS4 immediately. For example, Dark Souls II, or Stick of Truth or Skyrim. You'd never really own them and you can't, but as long as you have PS Plus, you would have access to them.

I do think November might see the first big budget game for Gold on the Xbone though. I don't know what.

I've heard everything from Ryse to Black Flag. Though I doubt it's the latter in light of the upcoming bundle.

Ryse seems like a likely candidate, except it wouldn't impress anyone.

Personally, I think Activision and Microsoft should come together and have it be Destiny. Yes it came out very recently, and they obviously still want to trick people into buying it at full price.

But it's a glorified pay-to-play game, and they know that. And it's about to be buried by games like Advanced Warfare, and Halo. Not to mention all the other non-FPS games. Plus, they've probably already sold most of the Xbox One copies they will sell.

Ryse for free would definitely impress me. I still don't fully see the idea behind GWG & PSN. They definitely make me think twice about buying non-must have games if I can get them for free digitally later, especially when I have more than enough to play as it is.

Ryse is actually pretty awesome. Sure it's only a few buttons but I enjoyed it and the MP was great fun.

I think they need to revaluate what their goal is. Is it a perk? Or is it something that is supposed to make you actually want to buy a console.

A perk is releasing old games for free, or indie games.

If they want it to seriously be a reason to buy a console, they need to release relatively new AAA games.

Right now it's very mixed.

I don't have hard data, but I get the sense that the average gamer doesn't buy more than a dozen games a year at full price.
