So, the Scorpio is real, and looks like a monster. Who know how that hardware will hold until late 2017.

If the PS4 Neo is under those specs, I wonder if they will hold the announcement until they could at least match them...

Yeap, "Play Anywhere" is the new "exclusive" (fine by me)

The Neo is already under development and has most likely been completely finalized. Unless they are going to scrap it totally and launch it at a new time period, there's no going back.

question about the HDR that's touted in the Slim.

will HDR work with any hd tv or only with certain displays or 4k displays?

Go read the link I posted earlier. HDR has nothing to do with resolution. You would need an HDR capable tv, which is new tech, so it isnt somethng avaialble on all HD TVs

you really think the Neo is going to launch with its initial specs later this year as originally intended? Sony putting out the statement last week that it wont be at E3 twas well timed. They wanted to see what MS had to offer and the buzz around that before officially detailing it. They likely are upping the specs on it and with them already launching new hardware this fall, I can see them holding off to start manufacturing Neo for a release next year

thanks!

I was hoping for more dashboard customization features/options and maybe a facebook app or something new but oh well, At least we are finally getting background music!

The Club for the Xbox Live community sounds interesting and so I'm curious how exactly that works and looks like.

Backwards Compatibility games announced as working on consoles with MS money would have been nice!

Just saw the Xbox One S has a 4K Blu Ray player in it. That clinches it, even though I will get the scorpio next year. That 4k Blu Ray player in the S is great. Considering the only 4K Blu ray player I can find here in Canada is 600$ from Samsung.

hopefully that last part gets resolved once they unify the Xbox and Windows Stores.

I already have a 4k blu-ray player and was planning on getting the Neo as my bedroom 4k player. Might consider the S instead depending on the release dates of the 2.

Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3 were the only games that really interested me from Microsoft. Horizon 3 is a day one purchase.

Aside from that, Insomniac's Spiderman, Mass Effect 4 and Titanfall 2 it was a pretty lousy e3.

XBox Scorpio looks really good, but I don't see the point in buying it when I can just upgrade my PC and save on the new console. When all the games are coming to PC anyway it doesn't really matter anymore.

Yeah no wow games even though we are soon going to be 3 years into the gen.

I thought ReCore looked awesome. Looks like it'll be an extremely fun 3D platformer. And you gotta remember, there are a lot of cross platform games coming. Most of them were at the Sony presentation.

Gears of War 4, Battlefield 1 and Ghost Recon: Wildlands have been the biggest highlights for me so far but there's been other pretty cool looking games too.

the more I think about it, the more I feel the Slim isn't a good purchase - not with the Scorpio looming just over a year away.

it almost feels like the Slim was a year too late. or 6 months too late. It should have been released Holiday 2015 or the beginning of this year.

Either that or the Scorpio is a year too soon ( should be 2018 ).

The systems will be over a year apart. I think that's a perfectly fine buffer.

eh, I just think a year ( plus a few months ) is just too soon.

why would a new consumer buy the Slim now when they know that a much more powerful console is coming a year later?

unless there are X1 games coming out this year and early next that you absolutely want to play. then I could see it. but even then, in the back of your mind, you know a much more powerful console is looming.

I know people who are upgrading to the slim, and then getting the Scorpio(I'm not). People do stuff like this all the time. Hell, I do it with Nintendo Handhelds. I got the original 3DS, then I got the XL, and then I bought the New XL.

It's not that uncommon for consumers to buy the new thing.

Some may want the slim soon and have no interest in the scorpio until it drops price or something. Why do you care about other consumers anyway? Just think about what you prefer.

well, I guess we'll find out how consumers feel based on how the Slim sells.

I'm just saying, for me personally, while I was initially excited for the Slim, that excitement has been muted knowing that the Scorpio is coming next year. I can't justify spending $300-$400 on a Slim, only for it to be eclipsed a mere year later by a more powerful console.

that plus the Neo and NX are also looming.

so, if I'm going to buy the X1, I'm going to wait until the Scorpio and I'm going to wait until I get more info on that, the Neo, and the NX.

I am sure people have reasons, I have reasons..

1-Current Xbox acts wonky (biggest reason for me to get the S right now)
2-Three big screen Tv's sitting in the house. (throw one on each)
3-4K Tv not being used to its potential
4- Not really that expensive to get both.

If people throw out it costs too much to buy both the S and then the Scorpio (a year later).. perhaps they need better jobs or money management skills :) As I heard rumblings I just put 100 away a month and I already have more than enough to get the S, buy the time Scorpio rolls out I will have more than enough saved away.

fair enough. you have to do what you think is best.

for my situation, I just don't find it practical to purchase a new console only for it to be eclipsed by a much more powerful console a year later. especially when there are 2 other consoles vying for my attention ( and money ) - Neo and NX.

The Scorpio is still more than 1 year away, that's a lot of waiting with no console. And, maybe the Scorpio won't be for everyone: it's shaping to be a high end console, aimed to VR enthusiasts

I hope it supports Holo Lens as well as Occulus. I don't care for VR, but AR is something I could buy

That would only apply to people who would buy both at launch which I don't think would be you lol. Otheriwse the gap is as long as you choose to make it. And I mean buy and keep not buy and return. ;)

hah. so true.

which is another reason why I think I'll wait for Scorpio. The Slim doesn't seem to be enough of a step up from the original X1. so the problems I had with the Original X1 ( long install times, etc. ) will probably still be present with the Slim.

but the Scorpio seems like a big enough upgrade to warrant my interest.

The main reason I think of switching to the S model is because of the power block :hehe:

I don't like the white though. And the controller is a nice upgrade. No internal battery yet, but carries all the upgrades so far plus is bluetooth wireless (regular bluetooth, works on windows without a dongle, cable or other additional hardware.

Those 2 points and the slight increase in processing power are making me think about it

Is there a chance you would buy Scorpio at launch? In that case it would definitely be worth passing on the S and waiting for it (even more so as you don't care about 4k media at the moment).
