I wouldn't go quite that far but yeah. I can't honestly say their absence really hurt my enjoyment. I would imagine that's true for most people.

Yeah the general audience doesn't give a rat's patootie about them. As a comic book reader I was surprised by it, but it's not like I enjoyed the movie any less because of it.

Even though Immigrant Song was playing I couldn't help but think of Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" which is pretty much what Thor was doing here lol.

Not sure if this was brought up yet, but I forgot we also got a bit of a confirmation of vampires existing in this universe. Korg says something about stabbing 3 vampires with a fork when checking out the weapons (which is also no doubt a reference to Taika's other movie as well).

I don't know if it was official confirmation or Korg was just trying to relate the weapon to something.

IMO it was both a reference to "What We Do in the Shadows" and the fact that vampires are acknowledged in the MCU - whether or not just as fictional stories that have made their way into the cosmos or Blade exists we don't know.

So Grace Randolph is officially on the 'Hela is going to be in IW' bandwagon:

I don't entirely agree with all her points (and she misses out a lot of arguments that I'd use) but overall a pretty good, persuasive argument. :woot:

*whispers* Any Hela fans that haven't voted for her in the villain poll, go do it. Vulture has nearly caught up with her!

Funniest part, for me, was Thor telling his snake story. His delivery was amazing.

"...because he knew I loved snakes, and...!!!" oh, that was wonderful, so perfect. And his reaction to the melting! "Oh my GOD!" ...my gut was hurting in there.

Okay... Ragnarok was insanely beautiful ridiculousness and my new favorite Marvel movie!

I am sure this has been talked about, but that was Thanos' ship in the first post-credit scene, right?

Also, my husband was shocked about Thor's eye... "That's like for the rest of the MCU? He's just not going to have an eye anymore?" That happened in the comics too, right?

ETA: Ah! King Thor. Yeah...

Annoyed at some of the nitpicking i've seen when it came to Hela's actions or lack thereof. . It's like people didn't pay attention. Main thing I've seen is Hela got to Asgard and then did nothing. I've also seen some people talk about how she didn't even try to destroy it.

Hela got to Asgard and completely took over. She didn't do more because Heimdall took the sword to the Bifrost, so she couldn't leave to expand her rule.

The thing about her not trying to destroy Asgard is head scratching because I don't think it got anymore clear as to why she didn't want to destroy it than when Thor said "The longer she is on Asgard the more powerful she grows" and then decided to use Surtur to destroy Asgard. Ragnarok was basically a contingency by Odin when he died and Hela was released from her prison. I mean she calls herself "The Savior of Asgard". Not sure someone wants to destroy a place when they call themselves the savior of it.

Yessssss, I'm glad someone finally get's it!

Precisely! That's the whole damn twist of the movie, Hela doesn't want to destroy Asgard, she wants to rule it. Then from there she wants her dominion to spread to the other Nine Realms and then the rest of the Universe. It's Surtur that wants to destroy Asgard, that's his whole purpose. Destroying Asgard and the source of Hela's incredible power was the only way to stop her from carrying out her universal dominion plans.

The fact that some people don't seem to get this is baffling.

One question...how did Hela get to Midgard to crush Thor's hammer if she needed the sword/bifrost to travel to other realms?

Odin was the one holding her imprisoned, and when he dies she comes back at the place he died. So her entrance in the film is on Earth.

Sounds good to me.

Its also possible/probable that, even if she can teleport in some way, she can't necessarily bring along others easily, and she wants to conquer places, not rampage over them. That means an army.

( The impression I've gotten is that most forms of teleportation or similar instant travel, are either limited in range, or not so instant, and either way useless for traveling from planet to planet. )

SPOILERS... da.

Yeah, I was stunned that they killed off Volstagg and Fandril so quickly and easily. At least Hogon went out like a man! All the while I was expecting some sort of resurrection with the eternal flame like how Hela rose her dead army. When the movie ended with no Warriors Three resuscitation I was kind of pissed. Still don't like it.

That is a huge factor why I graded this down to 9/10 or 8.5/10 territory.

So Feige said Warriors Three will be remembered. When and where do you think it'll happen?

Also glad Sif is MIA right now. Thor needs a queen.

Far more interested in her than Jane. I really hope she was off-Asgard and shows up in a later movie, either Avengers or another Thor. And hopefully with a more substantial role than just set-decoration.

Beautiful woman who kicks ass!? More please!

Now I know why she pulled away from Vulture, aha

Yeah. I’m glad they didn’t play that. I would have needed a clean up on aisle 5.

A few things that have me irked about responses to the film..

Thor and Hulk will be in Avengers 3. So some questions about why some things weren't resolved is a bit ridiculous. A3 will handle it.

Asgardians are magic. Magic exists. Not everything the Asgardian's use though is magic. The bridges is tech. Thor, Odin, and Hela are magical beings. Not every Asgardian is capable of using magic nor incredibly strong. Some of them are essentially gods.

The mood whiplash people talk about is funny to me. So many people die in these films but it's a sin when it's someone whose name you know. To me some of the deaths are done from the perspectives of strangers. Hela doesn't give a damn about the warriors three. Thor isn't attached to strangers he's met for two seconds.

Though now I need Thor 4 with Hulk being a regular of the Thor verse.

I agree with you bro, where did you see these criticisms?

Not exactly sure what you're trying to say, but the Warriors 3 deaths were handled awfully. They were set up as some of Thor's best friends for 2 films, who he has likely known for hundreds of years, and they were killed off with zero lines (besides Hogun) received no mourning or acknowledgement. It was very bizarre.

It wasn't handled badly. It was showing how much Hela was no joke.

Odin was dead and there was no way they'd kill Loki, so who's left to make her look powerful?
