another who actually loved the story elements and first half, but did not like the last hour because of the too much action and all **** breaking loose

Holy crap...this film really IS Batman Begins!

Considering that I (even alongside many Batman fans) think that Batman Begins was the best put together and best overall movie of TDK trilogy, that is an WONDERFUL comparison for a Superman reboot to hang its hat on. Add in the fact the action is superior to Avengers and here you got a hit to kick off the franchise. It's ALL we ever asked (and probably then-some!)

^ But with someone good with action ;)

Anyway, even if it isn't amazing, that will leave more to build for the sequel :)

Awesome, I'm loving what we are hearing so far. From the predicted 100m OW to all these glowing reviews...it's looking more and more likely that superman fans will get their own "dark knight trilogy" and their own bragging rights for the next 8 years or so.

His acting was good, I liked him. He didn't lack in dialogue.

I felt Henrys acting was far superior to Routh and his voice is captivating as Superman but one of my issues is his physique is nothing to be afraid of in the movie. It wasn't imposing and the fact that characters expressed that sense of fear towards Superman, at times I thought it felt a little forced and silly until you see the crazy things he does, then yes who wouldn't be afraid...

Overall, I too can say this is easily the best Superman movie to date. No one will ever forget Reeve but I felt Cavill was an excellent xhoice! I don't get all the comparisons to Batman or The Avengers but as a film, Man of Steel is pure ART in every sense of the word. It's beautiful, it's uplifting and I really cared about Superman this time but hands down the action is incredible and is what steals the show. It has better action sequences than most CBM but it does have its slow parts in between. I adored the flashbacks they are very warming and heartfelt. I'm going again Thursday and also Saturday in IMAX 2D.

From GameFaqs: After all those trailers, MOS certainly exceeded my expectations. For instance certain setpieces and sequences I did not expect that level of quality (going from the trailers), but they certainly delivered.

Good. I was worried about this. :yay:

Another question: Is MOS ever BORING?

Ever boring? Good question. No it's never boring actually. I consider it slightly TOO fast if that makes sense. Plot motors and does not stop for nothin'.

All this emphasis on action...makes me kinda regret not getting a ticket in IMAX.

From another forum: At the Art Center, Zack Snyder (the director) told them the original cut was 3 hrs 20 mins long but they tighten up a lot of the scenes and cut a few things out to get it down to 2 1/2 hrs.

So there is a CRAZY long epic version. If a DC's released, I'll watch it :)

PS. The woman said it was "awesome." :)

Well, honestly it FELT that way. I want the long cut. :waa:

I read this from a DVD forum :Hmmm I don't usually rate out of 10, but maybe an 8.5? I'd give it 4/4 stars Ebert Style, but not say it's perfect, if that makes sense. Certainly the best Superman movie I've seen, but I've only seen 1, Returns and part of 3.

The one thing i'll hold Zack over Chris is that he's no where near as stubbon over a finale cut. Nolan seems to hate everything that isn't in his final cut (for good or worse) and refuses to even show it. At least with Snyder, chances are we'll get a DC or a Ultimate version with like all the deleted scenes added in, and we'll get like 5 commentaries :funny:

To be fair, Nolan probably is able to get more of what he wants in his films.
I'd love to see an EPIC length Superman, but it might cause problems if I have drinks ;)

Definitely. There needs to be a DC cut like The Watchmen. Really glad we got that.
