I've read your reasoning for pacing issues and take it under consideration. What is the depth problems you have?

They could've fleshed out stuff a bit more before he suited up. Simplest way I can put it without speaking to specific scenes.

In fairness, if someone thinks a superhero action film is 'too loud' then they clearly have no idea what kind of film they were going to see. Or else there is a problem with the volume level in their theatre.
It depends on what she meant. There's a point in any genre where something just becomes too much. I doubt that I will have that opinion though but I can't say too much since I've only seen one of the trailers.

But no matter what it's still just an opinion, which is by definition subjective. Movie quality isn't based on how many people like it either so there's not really much reason to get upset and insult people over it, although it is inevitable when it comes to these things and also kind of funny.

This is the area where it really needs to shine, dammit.

But if it comes across better than meant for greater things --> couldn't save Pa --> 12 years long mind-meld dream --> ta da, instant Superman/reporter Clark :BA it will take some of the sting away.

It's good enough, but felt like they cut stuff.

I wouldn't worry about that part, the trailers alone have more than that in them.

Someone get grandma her warm milk so she can go to bed. :o

"Too loud" is one of the dumbest reasons ive heard someone knock a movie.

She liked TDKR. And she is a fan of the Dark Knight trilogy.
Not always agree with her.

Total Film gave all the Batman films 5/5 stars. But the other big movies of the summer so far: IM3 4/5 - STID 4/5 - FF6 3/5

If we are going out of 5 and counting half points I would go

BB 3.5/5
TDK 4.5/5
TDKR 5/5

I disagree with her a lot. But she is fine. I guess she doesn't like movies with too much action, etc. She also compared MOS to STM and Superman 2, so I guess she sees Reeve as the definitive/original version of the character.

Warner Brothers' lesson from Returns was clear. Superman can be dark, he can even be a dad, just don't make him maudlin.

Eh, I think the bigger issue was SR was just far too limited in scope for a Superman film, and people could see it immediately from the trailers.

People wanted something big and huge and epic, which is what we're seeing now from MOS, and why people are so much more excited.

Superman Returns was more a homage to Richard Donner's movies then a re-introduction to Superman.

It was old and not that relatable to the younger audiences.

You guys remember, Kal Penn was a bad guy in that movie?
LOL

Did Kal Penn talk in that movie? lol. I can see why some might like SR better as it was a homage to Donner's movies. But, A new step is needed. known positive reviews or hints at positive reviews coming in less than 8 hours:
Collider, Slashflim, Hitfix, Chicago Sun-times, Fox-TV, The Wrap, Totalfilm, indiewire, AICN (maybe), and some others from criticschoice.com and smaller websites.
Reviews that will hit but not known if positive or negative: Empire, Variety.
Mixed reviews coming for sure: About.com and another one that I forgot the name of
Negative reviews coming: I am not sure of any Negative reviews at the moment. (2/4 stars or less)

I actually thought Total Film was going to go the full monty for MoS, I'm guessing Empire is likely to follow suit and give it a 4/5. Although a 5 would be nice in order to give them a little bit of absolution for the 5 stars they gave superman returns.

BB 3.5/5
TDK 4.5/5
TDKR 5/5

I'd go

BB 4.5
TDK 4.5
TDKR 4

TDKR is a good film but too many things annoyed me as a Batman fan

BB- 4/5
TDK- 4.7/5
TDKR- 4.5/5

The Dark Knight Trilogy- 5/5

"Cavil also isn’t afraid to mine the comedy out of the part, getting a laugh from both line readings and stoic facial expressions."

Sounds fun.
