Pretty much the biggest complaints among critics has been the supporting cast isn't developed. Even though I liked the film, I have to agree. Louis Lane was miscast, and the Kents and Perry were underused.

Her name is LOIS not LOUIS, and most of the reviews I've read have praised Adams' performance.

Somewhat related/unrelated -- already MoS 2 being prepared and Goyer to pen JL film?! :wow: this is great to see along with all of the good reviews thus far

I skimmed it, spoilers, but positive so should be on RT as a positive review.

The Village Voice hasn't been favorably inclined towards superhero movies(at least not Nolan's), so this is good news.

I was 14 when SM IV came out and I remember hoping that it would restore the magic of the first two films after the disappointment of SM III. I think the night before SM IV came out I was watching Siskel and Ebert on the Tonight show and they were saying that it was not a good sign that the film had not been screened for critics so I knew this was not good. Then the film came out and I heard how atrocious it was. It was really sad. I had seen SM: The Movie, SM II, and SM III the first week they had arrived in theaters and with SM IV I did not even bother to check it out :csad: . A few years later I caught it on television and it was worse than I could have ever imagined. :barf:

I don't even think I've seen the entire movie. They had it on the TV in a comic book store near me a few years later, and everyone in the place was just mocking it.

And then they tried to start over with Supergirl, and it was just...

I will be so happy if this new movie delivers...

And if the final shot of the movie proper wasn't of an Italian street vendor taking a broom and destroying his Tower of Pisa souvenirs. :whatever:

Oh MY! SM III was awful . The only good things about it were the battle between "good" Superman and "bad" Superman and Chris Reeve's chemistry with Annette O'Toole's Lana Lang.

Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise. Stephanie has given some really BAD reviews for Nolan and/or Bale's movies.

gotta say this has been a great night: the overall incredible positive reviews for this movie PLUS an awesome PS4 reveal... i can go to bed happy :)

I second that. Great reveal and, though I'm still getting both systems, the PS4's picking on Xbox One at the end was hilarious and to thunderous applause. I have my preorders in and so I can go to bed.

Todd Gilchrist -

Man of Steel' review: finally, the Superman we deserve
Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder deliver a superhero for the modern era

Goyer cannot write comedy at all anyways, I wonder if WB catches on and brings someone in to help in that department for JLA and MOS2.
trying to copy marvel's comedy is what got us green lanrtern

i love goyer/nolan's comedy it is more subtle we do'nt need a lead character who is constantly quipping like tony stark or a side character like darcy in thor who was just there for comedy relief hell even coulson constantly throws comedy all the time

i like the more subtle comedy like bale in tdk after he crashed into the police car after joker threatened to blow up a hospital
"should i go to the hospital"
"you dont watch much news do you mr. wayne"
also even the recent clip of supes interrogation scene
"Along with a half-eaten roll of winter green lifesavers" ,let's put all of our cards on the table captain"

I did like the junkyard battle between Clark and Supe. In fact, the only part of the movie that roused the audience to applaud on opening night was when Clark defeated the evil Superman and then opened his shirt to reveal the S while John Williams majestic theme was on the soundtrack.

I remember being on line for some other movie at a theater where Superman IV was playing, and nobody was going in to see it. It just made me so sad.

Yeah it is sad.. Superman 3 leached off the success of the first 2 and WB probably did a nice job taking the few decent scenes and jamming them into the TV ads to get people into the theatres.. But after they saw it, the party was over for the Reeve franchise..

That scene was great.

It's so funny that the one writer at indiewire is getting bash for writing a negative review that was rush with errors and grammar, misspelling, and did it to draw hits to indiewireread why it was bad... The backlash is so funny... I hope this writer gets what he deserve for not crediting a good movie.

I thought it would start out higher than a 91%. Probably will end up in the low 80's high 70's if I had to take a guess.

I bought Supergirl in a video store years ago and the cashier was trying to talk me out of it... LOL..

Count yourself lucky they at least talked to you. When I bought Supergirl the cashier just gave me a weird look like I was a shoplifter or something.:whatever:
