You don't like my opinion? Fine. I'm just being a realist here. If it climbs up to the mid eighties and stays there, i'll eat my own hand.

It could be 85 or 75 and that likely will have no effect on the Box Office. There were tons and tons of reviews that are good to great and RT is not counting them..

It feels like someone just died in here.
As long as this movie makes it's fair shair of money, we will get a sequel, hopefully with a new screenwriter (I have never been a big fan of Goyer).

I look at the reviews from Nordling on Ain't It Cool, and Drew on Hitflix, and I'm just not worried. This is a movie that will, I think, appeal to most fans, and the general audience will enjoy the action. I never thought that mainstream critics would rave about MOS.

From what I have been reading it seems that MOS sacrifices character development for heavy summer movie action. It is no guarantee, but it is very likely that this approach will be more popular with the masses than with critics. After the debacle of SR I do not think that the filmmakers could risk going with a more thoughtful, slow-moving origin story like BB even if it costs it some critical praise. Honestly, even though I do think critics usually matter to some degree I think it matters less to a summer action movie especially if the final rating does not fall below 60%. I doubt anyone looking to check out MOS will be deterred because 90% of critics did not fawn all over it. :o

At least the negative reviews aren't really blaming Cavill. I wouldn't worry about it so much you guys unless it drops below 60, which I suppose it could. The thing is this film is affecting people differently. It will come down to how you identify with it. Basically see the film and decide whether you like it and whether it leaves room open for some sequels.

It's over. They blew it.

A lot of the things mentioned in the negative reviews sound like legit concerns, and the fact that the movie is at a 71% after only 35 reviews is not a good sign.

"Huuuur! There's 200 more reviews to go!"

Doesn't matter. Tomatometer's rarely continue to climb through a negative score. It's also a pretty good sample of what it's gonna be once most of the reviews start rolling in. It's looking like they'll be 3-4 bad reviews for every 10 that pops up. So while not a "bad" film, it's still bad given how much is riding on this film for the future of DC films, and because of the insane amount of hype and promotions this film has received. So even if it manages to stay in the 60-75% range, it's still a disappointment.

This will quite possibly affect it's box office intake and MoS probably won't see that huge intake that everyone and WB was hoping for. It may end up being a decent film, but decent is not enough.

So once again, they dropped the ball, and DC will continue to look like the poor man's version of Marvel from the average movie goers eyes. Bravo Zack and Goyer. Bravo.
Heh, they haven't dropped the ball yet. We'll know if they did a good job once we see what it makes at the box office. IM3 seemed to have some mixed reviews, but the GA loved it(I personally enjoyed it), and its made a killing at the box office.

Just because it's not doing TDK ratings doesn't mean they dropped the ball. Wait and see how the GA responds to it, before you cry foul. Look on the bright side, at least it's not getting panned like GL. :woot:

^ Best case scenerio, critics have a limited idea of what Superman should be and are judging on their preconceptions. Worst case scenerio... nevermind :/

I was hoping MOS would be on the level of a X-Men: First Class at least, i'd think that would be great.

I was expecting a mixed reaction. People who are attached to Marvel movies or Donner films will be put off. And I haven't agreed with the ratings on a handful of movies lately anyway.

My only concern is BO performance and the overall impression once everyone has seen it. I'm still really looking forward to seeing it.

What is everyone's obsession with putting down one CBM in favor of another?

Loved ASM. I even still actively like Superman Returns. There is no need, in my mind, to bash SR in order to raise MOS up on a higher pedestal. In my opinion, it's a GREAT thing that my generation has produced two very different Superman films with different things to say, and that can be enjoyed on different levels. Same with Spider-Man.

Did people really hate that movie that much? I thought it was better than SM1, but that's my personal taste.

I thought it was better than all of Raimi's Spidey films personally, don't understand the hatred it got, I was very happily surprised when I saw it.

Ask those who cursed the film to high heaven once it was announced to be a reboot of their beloved untouchable films.

We didn't cast the first stone.

All that really matters on getting GA in the seats this weekend, as far as RT goes, is if it gets that "Certified Fresh" stamp. Percentage of w/e - that stamp usually makes people go = Yep. Going.

And it will no doubt get it. And peeps will go. No one should be expecting TDK or Avengers numbers. It all depends on the film leading up to it.

Once we heard about the crazy amount of nonstop action in this movie, it should have been obvious the critical reaction would be mixed. They aren't usually big fans of that kind of thing.

^ Watch it. I CARE about character development more than action! If the worst comes to the worse, they can develop it in the sequel :)

Exactly.

None of this surprises me a bit.
