I just wanna see it now. Really, for reassurance that all that faith and anticipation wasn't for nothing.

I wasn't here before SR, but I can only imagine how horrible it must feel to those who were, and sort of went through the anticipation followed by dissapointment once already :(

Feel bad for them after they've seen the film and felt disappointed by it. Pretty much everyone i personally trust critic wise have said this film is excellent.

Although it would be quite funny if this film scored lower than Fast 6.

Some critics are just biased against Snyder or think Superman should be the Donner version forever. But as long as the general public loves it and the success is there, the rest doesn't matter as much. And Rotten Tomatoes is far from perfect, if a movie gets a 3.5, it is consider rotten, even a B- :

:whatever:

The Hobbit got only 65%, I don't think many would consider Fast & Furious 6 (72%) as the better movie, but whatever.

Good to hear, TF is a mag I turn to for reviews. I dig their style and taste.

The Guardian gave it 3/5, but overall, the reviewers here like the film. They still seem to have the same concerns (depth and humour), but didn't affect their enjoyment.

I love Empire's subtitle for their review: 'The Clark Kent' :BA

Over here in the UK, it's been getting positive reviews (Empire and Total Film both gave it 4 out of 5, they gave the same score to Superman Returns). Other reviewers here are also giving it 4/5 e.g SkyMovies, DigitalSpy, SFX.

Weird.

Yeah I noticed that

I'm not surprise. I got a feeling Internationally MOS will be love and get better reviews overseas than here. I would not be Surprise if MOS makes more money internationally than domestically.

Nah I've had my fill of Batman films. There's been 7 Batman films in my lifetime.

2 for Superman (1 sucked and the other is getting mixed reviews)
0 for Wonder Woman
1 for Green Lantern (which sucked)
0 for Flash
0 for Captain Marvel
0 for you get my point

No offense but i'm profoundly sick of Batman at this point.

Again why are people blaming RT for this? Take it up with the actual reviewer.

Yeah, SFX is the only mag I buy, so it does make me feel slightly better.

It's just weird... There must be a reason for so much hate on the film... And it's either something from inside the movie, or some weird agenda from the outside...

Going in with your expectations low is good. You'll like it better. :)

Well said,

I watched it last night. I'm a hardcore Superman fan and my heart was just breaking by the end. The movie didn't quite connect with the audience. I was frowning and rolling my eyes at so many parts. Important scenes were ruined by bad acting, bad editing and build up and poor music choices. They had half a year extra to edit this!!

I'm hoping in the sequel will be better.

Pretty much. It's like watching a sports game where one of the teams keeps screwing up. You know they're talented and can deliver but Murphy's Law keeps kicking in. Every flub makes the game more and more painful to watch. by the end you're just glad it's over

How can a movie with such an all star cast have BAD ACTING? I don't get it. I didn't expect the acting to be a problem in this movie.

My expectations for this movie have been high, and remain so. That said, it might be prudent to wait until we have seen it before writing off the critics as biased, misinformed or plain dumb.

If the film is being unfairly treated, then I sense that may be due to 'superhero saturation'. I have said it a lot of times, but while fans will always be happy to see these characters competently put on screen, the scrutiny of critics will become less indulgent over time. They have to assess a movie as a movie, not as an attempt to do justice to Superman.

This is so true. The novelty might be finally starting to wear off on critics (which is inevitable). This is definitely evident in some of the bits of reviews I've seen.

I've just seen a review from Access Hollywood where basically the person seems to have Donner's Superman as his personal reference, once again, someone who thinks that MOS should be fun, lighthearted. What the hell is going on here?

I don't understand this, you can't make serious superhero movies anymore? Or is Batman the only one allowed to do it?

Man, really? You keep reviews of other people in mind when seeing a movie for the first time? I can't even imagine dealing with that. This isn't being sarcastic either. You can't turn off that part of your brain?
It's not so much that it affects me, it's that I fear what it could mean for future films. sequels, JL, etc.
It doesnt matter if I (or you) love it if the public doesnt take to it.
I know not everyone reads what the critics have to say, but alot do.
Alot is riding on this so I want it to do well critically and financially. ( but I'll take the financially :))

EDIT: Just kidding, those two positives were counteracted by another negative. Staying at 66%. Sigh.

I count myself as a hardcore Superman fan and my opinion of the film was the complete opposite. I never once wanted to roll my eyes, and the audience gave a roaring applause after it was over.

Even the critics haven't been really saying the acting was bad. Yes, some have said Cavill is humorless and fails to capture the character in the same way as Reeve. But even that isn't criticizing Cavill for bad acting.

Ahh don't be the guy talking about agendas. I like you but mentioning a critic having an agenda reeks of desperation. I can see this is bothering you quite a lot. May be best to shut down for a while till you see it. If you like it, screw them because their opinions won't matter.

I'm pretty sure the amount of action in this film will be the main reason it will be a box office success.

WOM - "You have to go see how insane MOS is..." General public is very forgiving about editing, pacing, etc.

Even movie stars and acclaimed actors need first of all strong material to work with, and then a good director, who gels well with performers, to steer them in the right direction and get the most out of them, and who is able to first capture the performance in the right way, and then has the right feel for timing and editing. Filmmaking is complex, yet so simple at heart. You can **** up both by overcomplicating stuff, and by not living up to the complexities. You gotta have the right balance to manage complex and technical difficulties, yet you have to try to keep it simple for actors to be able to express themselves naturally and sincerely.

Performances in Zack Snyder's movies so far have felt like the actors were executing a choreography, while having to say their lines. I hope that's not the case here.

I have to say that this might be one of the most grand wastes of talent I've seen in a movie. Waste of good actors, waste of a great composer, waste of great visuals and cgi, waste waste waste. It really seems like the blame is going to David Goyer for not knowing how to write a proper script here.

Welp folks, we now have our first couple of SHH! negative reviews.
