I just hope no one goes into watching this film with a mindset that they will force themselves into liking the film just to spite the critics/score it's getting.

That will undoubtedly happen as it has happened many times before.

Remember, Twilight fans think the Twilight movies are the greatest cinema of all time. Perspective is easily overshadowed by fandom.

Yup. Last of Us and GTA5, lots to look forward to in the world of artifice.

'My father believed if the world found out about me, they'd reject me... out of fear. He was convinced that the world wasn't ready? What do you think?'

Well Superman... I think you're father might have been right. Apparently the world just wasn't ready for this kind of Superman movie :p

If the box office is affected and this becomes a one off film... It will be a sad drought. No sequels and possibly no other DC movies including JL. bah! I don't want to think of that possibility!

Has Devin Faraci graced us with his review yet? Someone like him I bet was intending to give it a negative review but will change it to positive to spite the RT consensus.

Loved it I believe. It's a shame to see MOS ranked where it is RT wise versus other superhero movies as I would say its one of my favorites, and I generally agree with the critical consensus

He had his problems, but he liked it.

LOL! Nice one :p

Or reverse, waiting to be disappointed in some self-fulfilling prophecy...

Then as danoyse said, don't stay here. Leave if it bothers you that much. If ya can't take the heat, don't stay in the kitchen.

I don't understand why you are disheartened by this stuff, honestly. There are a lot of unpopular films I love and I get along just fine, secure with my likes and dislikes.

Isn't the existence of this very message board based on wildly different opinions and all-around hand wringing by nerds and geeks?

The bad reviews aren't going to scare any of us from seeing the film, but let's be honest: the trailers have been so well received and now to have critics go "MEH" over it is puzzling. That happens a lot, I get that. I'm of the opinion that RT's metrics are faulty.

But the ride has been up and down quite a bit, and ALL of our reactions reflect that, even if we think someone is being sensitive.

And being sensitive doesn't mean you lack confidence in your opinion. Why question anyone's self-security? Maybe it's just a case of having high hopes and feeling conflicted to see so many 'experts' not go along with that. But again, it's not going to keep any of us from seeing the movie.

We all just have to find the best 'happy place' for us to enjoy the film. For some, it's boundless joy. Others, angst. Neither is wrong. It's part of being a true community.

MoS needs to open huge. This is their last chance for a long time. It's no surprise that the success of this movie financially is what dictates what happens with a WF/JL film. If the audiences love it, then the critics need to look themselves in the mirror or maybe just go see the movie again

If I recall correctly, Faraci absolutely loathed The Dark Knight Rises, no?

I quite like SM3 personally, the only one of Raimi's films that felt like a fun Spidey comic come to life, instead of watching Peter cry and mope most of the movie like SM2. But therein lies the rub, a critic's opinion (or popular opinion for that matter) shouldn't sway anyone's personal tastes, even though it often does...

No idea. I found TDKR to have great scenes that were thrown together with poor pacing and ridiculously silly plot devices. But the score and cinematography tie it together well enough to make it enjoyable for a few viewings. Definitely a must-see movie.

SM3 was very bad. The awkward exchanges between Peter and Harry, the dance... GOOD GOD THE DANCING!

To me...I'd watch Spider-man 3 a hundred times before I'd watch Thor or Captain America, yet objectively speaking I'd admit that they are "better" films. I guess for all it's bad scenes and messy narratives, the great moments shine brighter than anything in Thor or Cap.

I have to admit I expected my thread to be closed. It was kind of a public venting. Sorry bout that chaps!

I would be far more bummed out by this if i wasn't already losing my s*** at getting my hands on Last of Us tomorrow. (at least that got outstanding reviews :oldrazz:) So if i'm widely disappointed in the film, then I've got something to perk me up for sure.

Oh totally dude. Thank god that game is coming out tomorrow to cleanse the palette.

Whoa. What happened? I checked RT last night and MOS was at 78% positive... now it's at 58%... I guess all the negative reviewers were holding out and MOS got slammed with a chuck of negative reviews all at once... oh well...

I have tickets to the midnight show here in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Based on what I've seen from trailers, I'm sure I'll enjoy MOS.

I love Thor and Cap. I don't think either is a great film, but they are definitely favorites for me.

I really enjoyed those three stand alone films from Marvel 1) Iron Man I 2) Captain America and 3) Thor. I thought they were all solid and entertaining. In fact, way more so than "The Avengers" which I found shallow and immensely overrated.
