Lower than Superman Returns?

tumblr_inline_mhit11ktId1qz4rgp.gif

Yeah I don't see that happening.

Actually, Critics Choice scores tend to be higher than RT scores:

Superman Returns: CC - 89, RT - 76

Batman Begins: CC - 91, RT - 85

The Dark Knight: CC - 96, RT - 94

TDKR: CC - 91, RT - 87

Iron Man 3: CC - 84, RT - 78

After Earth: CC - 49, RT - 12

Mainstream critics on cc havent scored yet.

I'm going to say between 83-88% on the tomato meter.

Yeah. I feel like because this has no intentional Donner references, that some critics will be harsh because it isn't the Superman they used to know.
I also feel like some will consider it to be a remake of Superman I and II, just because it's an origin and it has Zod in it.
And then others will bash it for their perception of flaws in the film, whether or not it is accurate.

If this were a film of the same quality of any new superhero (assuming it's as good as it looks) it would probably get a 92 percent fresh rating.

But because people have preconceived notions of Superman, I feel like the film will be weighed down critically.

The sequel is where it can shine critically. And if there ARE weaknesses in the film in terms of character development, the sequel can iron those out.

Okay... What's your point?

You seemed to suggest that Critics Choice reviewers were more negative than Rotten Tomatoes reviewers, but that really isn't the case.

I mean to say reviewers like
Bonnie Laufer Krebs who gave it 70/100
David Freedman who gave it 80/100
Stephanie webb who gave it 90/100

none of these are active on rottentomatoes and MANY on CC are active and none of these are. we still have more than 200 critics to go and of these reviewers only one is on RT and she reviewed the last movie for RT in 2005

Okay, I don't disagree. In fact, I hope (:super:) that the score goes up as more mainstream critics review it on Critics Choice.

However, you said that "Critics choice is where the real negativity is," seemingly suggesting that Critics Choice is more negative than other review aggregators, like Rotten Tomatoes, but that simply isn't the case. I posted several score comparisons betwen CC and RT to show you that RT scores tend to be more negative than CC scores.

As an aside, the RT percentage and CC scores are not comparable metrics. More appropriate would be the RT average and I think in most cases your point would still stand.

So...we have some Hypesters watching the movie tonight. Anyone know what time the showing was and when they should be back to share what I hope is amazing news?

They started watching an hour ago, and may not come back until 11 p.m.-midnight (well my midnight which is EST).

Yeah they should be out in a couple of hours. Hopefully they'll stop by this thread.

They were in Houston and it started at 7:30 cst, so it should be over around 10pm cst. I'd say give them another hour after that to take to the boards.

Awesome, can't wait. I, too, hope they stop by this way to give us something non-spoilerish to talk about.

They will, that was all they could talk about last night. They're good for it.

I can be pretty easy to please when it comes to movies so I'm sure I'll like MOS. There's a copy of Green Lantern on my shelf to prove my point. That doesn't mean I can't tell when a movie's crap, but sometimes I can still enjoy it.

Don't think I have to worry too much about this one, though. Just a gut feeling.

think dajanksta is going on his phone right afterwards to give a quick opinion on it before a longer impression/review sometime after that.

just wanted to say thank you for making this thread... the other thread is so spoiler bombed, it's crazy

I know, if only I'd made it sooner I couldve saved myself from running into stuff in that other one.

Oh well :oldrazz:

Seriously. Even zipping through the thread and trying to only stop at what looked like a review I still ran into a big one. Must put a stop to the intel until the movie comes out.

Same here. I've been on this board long enough to know not to look in the other thread, but I couldn't help myself to see what the fuss was. Should've just kept myself in here instead. This thread is perfect for keeping away from spoilerish material while increasing the excitement by peoples opinions.

Anybody got any word on the 2 SHH's that saw the movie tonight? Anxiously waiting and curious if anybody close to the two has heard any first hand information on their initial reaction:word:
