I heard most critics HAVE to watch the movies that come out. Think of all the painful romcom's, family movies, empty blockbusters, poorly written dramas, and TWILIGHT. No wonder they're so grumpy ;)

How is that any different from me having a Netflix or Redbox account?

You defend hacks too much.

They need real jobs. Most of them are terrible.

Especially all these fanboy/blogger types.

I disagree. I think you're being a bit dismissive.

Also, I would die, just die to get a job to watch movies for a living. If you're getting paid to review movies and travel to sets all around the world, then that's a job. A job I wouldn't mind having.

Here's your other problem, which is problem that people on the internet flip-flop a lot on.

If a movie gets praised by critics, fanboys celebrate. If a movie gets bashed, then fanboys complain that critics are out of touch.

Nerds uses critics as a gauge of convenience for their argument and it's a bit annoying.

I think tonight will be the biggest night in terms of reactions. Tons of screenings going on tonight. Seeing lots of people tweeting they are seeing Man of Steel

Already a reaction from Twitter tonight. She says, shes a critc, don't know how reputable.

Man of Steel: a lot to digest, but quite an awesome spin on the classic. Gonna have fun reviewing this one; the real fun is watching it roll

Yeah I saw that, good to see.

Avengers was extremely camp. The whole film is camp. I say this as someone who greatly enjoyed the First Iron Man and Captain America: The First Avenger. Whedon's cartoonish film was a vapid movie that relied on dumb jokes and special effects. It made billions worldwide because it was safe, crowd-pleasing entertainment. Same for Iron Man 3. No drama. No real tension. It treated an alien invasion like a dumb joke and an excuse to showcase TV quality special effects. I know it has a huge online fanbase among the comic book faithful, but it bored me silly because I didn't believe anything I saw onscreen.

Devin is NOT a real critic. He is just a glorified fanboy/blogger with a twitter account. You act as if he is some film scholar. I don't hate him. I just think he is disingenuous and a liar. He even wrote some silly essay on how Avengers box office success was proof that America was supporting hope over cynicism. He might as well be on the Marvel payroll.

I never said he's a film scholar. But you sir, are placing yourself above a person and then criticizing him as pretentious. Also, get a sense of fantasy-TA was never meant to embrace reality.

In today's age, everyone is a critic. Even when they shouldn't be.

2hrs too long? So the movie should've been only 20 minutes?? Oh I'm so glad she isn't a professional critic.

She's probably some artsy fartsy type. Not that there's anything wrong with that.....

Not even that. If she thought it was 2hrs too long, I'm sure she must've loathed The Place Beyond The Pines.

Man of Steel has to change the nature of comic films. It has to!

@robertliefeld The battle scenes were immense. You never saw anything like that not even in Spider-Man movies.

@RDPomin man of steel is bigger. I'm talking beyond scale, more towards depth.

She's not saying she doesn't like long movies. Just that this one wasn't good enough to sit through that long.

Overall I enjoyed #ManOfSteel, but didn’t like liberties it took w/fundamentals—& there was no need to reboot, #SupermanReturns was great!
umm, no it was not great
