So it has too much action and Amy Adams is playing herself.... and he even admits he planned on hating it when it was announced. Then he goes on to insult the forums. I'm all for having freedom of speech and he is entitled to every word he says, it's just a strange way to spend one's time. Complaining is all good and well, if you have logic to back it up.

Kevin Smith, I think you're very wrong, but we should just agree to disagree.

I really can't imagine how MoS would top SR in pushing the Superjesus angle (which I don't like). Cross pose imagery (already too much) and Grant Morrison-derived speeches won't make it so.

SR had a "second coming", a "passion" including beatings and stabbing in the side, a "sacrifice" with a cross pose, a "death-and-resurrection" effect, Brando intoning "my only son", and for the Da Vinci Code crowd a lover and secret child.

I think people just have a problem with the inherent Christ metaphor in general - i.e. "get these religious germs out of my CBM!" If you're telling an honest Superman story that respects what he represents the religious subtext is going to be there whether you like it or not.

That said, yes, SR certainly played it up a LOT. But I'm one of the few people around these parts who still actively likes SR so, YMMV. I thought it was beautiful.

I don't put up with trolling....by anyone. So I suggest everyone think before they post.

People are allowed to like something you don't.

People are allowed to not like something you do.

You can discuss it, debate it, and argue it all you want...but once you start insulting people who don't share your opinion you will encounter me.

I saw a Man of Steel preview last night. No spoilers, but let me just say it: this film is going to dominate the summer box office. Aside from being a summer tent-pole for Warner Bros., it’s a very well-made film with a surprisingly great screenplay. Kudos to Zack Snyder, David S. Goyer, Christopher Nolan and the thousands (literally) of crew who made it possible.

Apparently some still missed this...so here it is again.

And for those who also missed another point...this is a thread for the reviews of MOS....not for petty obnoxiousness.

I read this on a spoiler-filled review, but skimmed over to the summary. To sum up Man of Steel. It is an epic story.

Great origin. Fleshed out. Deep. The movie has everything. Structure like Batman Begins, it is equally as awesome as that origin of Batman was. It wasn't a perfection OSCAR winning movie but definitely one of the best Comic Book Adaptations ever! As a Superman lover for me it has to be 9.5/10 putting it second only to 2008's The Dark Knight! A truly awesome spectacle and something everybody should go watch!

New trailer is awesome!! dat music! It is #3 out of 7 total.

Christian mythology has been at the heart of our country, so it isn't surprising that our own mythology is going to draw inspiration from it. Look at Star Wars. It is littered with biblical metaphors and biblical themes.

Superman is pretty much Jesus if Jesus were a superhero. It's only fitting that the creators pay homage.

Josh loves everything lol. Cool nonetheless.

The review embargo on Man of Steel lifts Monday night, June 10 and my review is ready. We think you’re going to like it.

I find his humor overrated and a bit stale. I mean come on, that was predictable. Can't he be a bit more original?

As tempting as it is I am NOT going to view that new trailer. Yes, it is killing me :cmad: but I am seeing MOS in 8 days and have already seen and heard too much. I want everything to be as new and fresh as can be. :yay:

Did the creators of Superman based their character on the Christian Mythology? Or, is this a revisionist history?

I know George Lucas did admit to it on Star Wars, though... but never heard the original authors of superman say any such thing...

BTW: If Superman is indeed representative of Jesus, then when Zod punches him on the left face, he'll go like 'oh, please do my right as well'... also, he'll just die, and not fight back... and then maybe miraculously comes back alive...
