I just saw the new set pictures of Bane...the disappointment in Bane's appearance just keeps coming.

It reminds me of the horrific changes that Rob Zombie made to Michael Myers in H2. Those changes were completely unnecessary and looked horrible. It's the same here. If anyone said a year or so ago that Bane would look like this and they'd praise it (and Nolan) for "thinking outside the box", they're kidding themselves. What a disappointment...

No. The beard Bale had was his real beard and it's moronic to try and use the makeup department to replicate his real beard just to fit in with production schedule. His real beard will be showcased in all shots. He likely shaved last night and won't be shooting as bearded Bruce Wayne for awhile now.

Firstly...it happens all the time in film, and makeup can easily replicate anyone's real beard. Secondly, it also happens when locations dictate parts of shooting schedules if you're filming different points in time at the same location. I've done several films in which that very thing has had to happen...it's part of what the makeup department does and why they keep a lot of continuity/reference photos...in case they have to get it again, even if the actor is clean shaven in reality.

I'm not saying that Bale's 'bearded' stuff isn't completely done and he can't be clean shaven from here on in...that could very likely be the case. But it's certainly not 'moronic', as you put it...it's quite common, especially when you only have a certain amount of time at one location.

Of course, by an inch and 1/2. Bale is only 6'0, maybe a 1/2 taller give or take. Whoever came up with 6'3 are dumb. 'just sayin'. Hardy is 5'9, but both guys are wearing boots and costumes, and all that. But regardless, YES, Batman/Bale is taller than Bane. But like others have said, it's doesn't matter, because camera angles and how it looks on screen can change the view of these guys in the end.

Actually, you can count me as a purist/belligerent who really doesn't mind the new outfit that much. I think it achieves the brief of "masked paramilitary" quite well, even if it uses different ingredients. You're right to say that it is different, but I tend to think of Bane's comicbook costume as "clothes" rather than a supervillain suit, so I suppose the alteration bothers me less.

A bigger issue for me is how Bane appears against Batman in the movie. If he looks as relatively tiny as he does in the spy pics, then something is very wrong. I hope that the impression of looming physical power suggested by the teaser trailer is more representative of what we will actually see in the film.

If anyone said a year ago that Bane would be in the movie at all no one would have believed it at all. I'm digging the look, but I'm not a tremendous fan of the character in the first place. But more than the look I'm digging the idea of this character that shows up and just turns Gotham into a war zone.

That design would be pretty cool for some random original bad guy from some other movie.
But for bane?.....
But it DID look like he was wearing some black sleeveless vest thing at the end of the teaser.
So there's still hope I guess..

That argument doesn't really hold up. Joker still looked like Joker. All of his major characteristics were there. Nolan's Bane looks nothing like Bane.

Just wanted to note that when Hardy was announced to play Bane, Nolan said in the press release that it would be a new interpretation of the character:

In addition, Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane. Nolan said, "I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies."

That part of the article stood out to me and I felt like we would see something we weren't expecting. So, this will be Nolan's Bane, just like we got Nolan's Joker, or Burton's Penguin and Catwoman, or Schumacher's Two-Face and Mr. Freeze.

People keep bringing this up.
It's kind of weak argument.
We've already seen WAAAAY more of bane than we did of joker at this point.
Most of the hate that I remember was directed at the very first(?) official image.
The cherry pie eating contest face.

I am fine with Bane's look. The mexican wrestler look would've been horribly out of place in Nolan's Batman world. He still wears a mask and looks like he will be doped up on venom, or a venom like substance. That's good enough for me.

Good lord I hope not. I really dont think Nolan would add something physically impossible into the realistic universe he has created.

A dude dressing up as a bat and fighting crime? Crazy but could happen.

A psychologist creating a fear toxin that causes hallucinations? I could see that.

A man who takes a substance that makes his body physically grow instantly in size? Nah.

I feel that same way about the Lazarus pit. Dont want to see it.
