Although I was not a member here in '07, I clearly remember all the discontent and disapproval the Joker's costume and war paint was getting (mostly from the purists).
[Four years later] Surprise, surprise, surprise... here we go again.
Let me ask you purists a question: Did you honestly think that Christopher Nolan would bring to life the same Bane from the comics? Seriously, if you gave yourself that idea then it's your own damn fault for the letdown.
This purist mentality is filled with bulls**t. I mean, I'm a cynic, but even you purists are bringing me down.
Purists hated the fact that Ra's al Ghul was not immortal and that he did not have his iconic white streaks in his hair. Then came the Joker and Two-Face in TDK. By the Joker not having bleached skin and Two-Face not 'appearing' like Two-Face, the characters were labeled as disappointments. However, after the release of the films, the attitude and tone seem to have changed with the critics.
Will these opinions change, and be nothing but a distant memory in 2012? Probably.
Will you purists ever be satisfied? No. I swear, you ladies and gentlemen remind me of hopeless romantics.
