So you don't think it's possible that Nolan's reinterpretation of Bane is Batman's height...and he's just tougher and stronger?
Would it matter? No, to be honest. I'd be fine with Batman being as tall as, if not taller, than Bane. His height isn't imperative to
who Bane is. His fighting ability, strength, and brilliance are, however.
With that said, if you pay close enough attention to the teaser trailer, Batman and Bane both seem to be moving up a slope, while Batman's gaze goes from his own eye level to a higher one as he goes to swing at Bane. So yes, I'm almost possible his size is going to be increased. Would I be ******** if it wasn't? No, not at all.
People forget that the Joker's face wasn't permanently white, nor did he have his hair slicked back, or have a cordial (yet colorful) look to his clothing. People also forget that Batman was wearing a heavily-armored suit instead of spandex with bulletproof boobs behind it, and that Bale isn't 6'2", and that he doesn't have a Batmobile, he has a ****ing tank. People act like this is the stuff that creates the character in his or her entirety, and that without this stuff, the Batman franchise can't be recreated. This is an adaptation, and people seem to forget that part of developing a great comic book movie is re-imagining characters that have been terribly re-hashed in comic after comic and movie after movie for decades. Fans here seem to forget that this isn't the cartoony, campy comic book universe, and this is a franchise grounded in the more realistic takes on Batman and his many supporting heroes and villains.
That's like saying Poison Ivy's red hair makes her a feminist plant-lover with a hard-on/death wish for Batman. It's not; these features are no more imperative to Poison Ivy being Poison Ivy than Bane's goofy-ass mask from the comics, his height, or his legged leotards were. Do you really mean to tell me that if they stripped Bane down, to complete nudity- even going so far as to show you his face- and he
STILL jacked Batman up and utterly destroyed Gotham that he wouldn't be Bane?
Nolan and company have accomplished what they needed to with Bane- he's got the mask to conceal his identity (which is presumably the reasoning, if not to simply be a mask to aid Bane's inhaling of whatever steroidal substances he's on), an intimidating demeanor, as well as the strong desire and apparent ability to snap Batman in half. Mission accomplished.
Nolan wins. Stop being so damned ******** and enjoy a cool take on some extremely non-intimidating, flamboyantly-drawn characters.
However, I'm not a fan of that jacket. Someone please burn it.
