The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane IX

As for Venom, I DO believe Bane uses it. But is it like what we know? Nope. Remember, the LoS had flowers that gave different effects. This was the subject of Begins and Crane found a way to weaponize it. Who's to say Bane hasn't found a way to formulate his own drug in the same manner? Surely Crane sent details of HOW he weaponized the flower, so Bane could easily tweek it to be used as an enhancer to his own body. His mask, to me, looks more like an aerosole design (just like breathing the toxics from Begins turned people crazy), but instead this form of drug roid-rages him out.

In the initial story where Batman uses it and Knightfall it didn't alter the users size. It worked like Adrenaline, which is real and gives people superhuman strength.

In one pic Bane seems to be lifting Batman off the ground by the neck.

Yes sir, those theories have been tossed around here a lot.

The suspense is really killing me at this point. Can't wait for more info.

I don't doubt he shoots something in his veins, but they way its portrayed like in BTAS, bane episode, where he gets physically bigger immediatly, no way does that happen in a Nolan movie.

BATBOARD FACTS:

There is no middle ground between the Batman portrayals and costumes of Christian Bale and Adam West.

There is no middle ground between beligerent haters and blind Nolan fanboys.

I hope that you mean this in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way. Sometimes, you never know who's going to surprise who.

Well TAS was a cartoon.

I rather like Bane's costume. It seems to recall Frankenstein's creature in some ways, which is an interesting (if unintended) allusion to make between two man-made superhumans. It certainly looks intimidating, though it is composed of militaristic elements, which I am glad to see, since I was concerned that the first promo picture revealed a more fetishistic approach.

That's actually a really good comparison that never occurred to me!

Oh and if Bane looks exactly the same as he did before he got the Venom then frick Chris Nolan. Nolan's Batman definitely looks a tad taller than Nolan's Bane.

It depends where he sticks his camera. Ian McKellen is not 3' taller than Elijah Wood, but Gandalf is.

I agree, though, that it will be crappy if Bane appears that tiny in the movie. You can rationalize it, but the fact will remain that Nolan dropped the ball on that issue.

He's also much closer to the camera. It was too quick to tell if they are going for forced perspective.

Thanks for the pic.

Looks like a f'n joke. Bane is shorter and looks to be the same built/size as Batman. Nolan's roll on doing justice to comic counterparts (Joker, 2Face, and Scarecrow were all amazing) just went down the drain.

This is Bane after the activation of the venom. Pathetic and miserable.

More pathetic than a roided junkie...I doubt it, the guy has a fighter´s functional body and that is alright, Bane from the comics is unreal.

Y'see, this is where directors and cinematographers earn their money.

Are you really expecting Bane to balloon up when he takes the venom like Bruce Banner hulking out? Bane getting physically larger when he takes venom is something that mainly comes from Bane's appearances in other media, with it happening inconsistently at best.

In the serum's original appearance during the "Venom" storyline, when Batman took it, there was no obvious physical transformation. When Riddler took it, and even when Bane took it during the Knightfall storyline, there was only a slight swelling of the muscles. The notion of him being skinny pre-Venom, then ballooning up to massive sizes after taking it, comes mainly from the animated series, Batman & Robin and the Arkham Asylum video game.

Even more new pics are up.

This movie needs to hurry up and release...Jesus.

Stunt double? Definite size difference. Or just the angle.

Or that Bale is practically doing the splits?

It isn't a double. Why use a double when all Hardy needs to do is shadow box?

I'm just tired of the whole apologist mentality. We have a character who has always been known for his size. We have an actor who can get big but is lacking in the height department. And Nolan has put those two together. At this stage, we don't know how he has managed to reconcile the differences.

So some people, in some sort of blind devotion to Nolan, are trying to convince us that no, Bane being bigger than Batman isn't a big deal, and never has been. Revisionist history is a common tactic for apologists. And that's what bothers me.

So what I'm really arguing about is the people who will use any means necessary to make sure that Nolan is always completely right in his decisions, regardless of the fact whether they even know what that decision is.

You're right, we really are arguing about nothing. But only because some people can't handle the smallest complaint.

Don't hate me for this, but...

I just saw Captain America yesterday, and the scenes with the scrawny Steve were just... everyone gasped, because they had totally bought into the illusion that the actor/character REALLY WAS like that. Wonderful technology. Isn't it possible that it could be worked the other way around?

Not to brown-nose Nolan, but the height thing is the kind of detail that couldn't possibly escape anyone, much less a brilliant direc... I mean, I mean, isn't it a little soon to be complaining about that when we haven't even seen any footage? And in the teaser, right in that last shot, Bane does give off that hulking impression. Don't forget, we AREN'T really supposed to see any of these set pics...

Stunt Double. I noticed that too before the new pics showed up of the stunt man in the Bane suit. The head was more normal, instead of Hardy's "bloated" head size. Blut he looked a bit thinner than Hardy. But no worries, it's stunt work and camera angles work out those problems. Sure Hardy didn't want to risk Bale elbowing him in the face. lol

If you're talking about this dude, then yea, not Hardy.

The pictures of the stunt double worry me. It makes me wonder how much interaction Tom Hardy and Christian Bale will actually have together.
