The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XI

Is the "earthquake machine" a strong possibility? Im kind of surprised. I mean theres only so many ways this could not seem almost identical to the microwave emitter, at least storytelling wise.

Hmmm, one poster suggested that if the rumor were true, Nolan could've taken inspiration from Nikola Tesla's "earthquake machine"(oscillator to be more precise, according to wikipedia), which as a concept at least sounds intriguing, especially if they introduce that same background for the device in the actual movie.

The real question we should be asking ourselves in this case is...

Could Bane actually be Nikola Tesla, alive after all this time? :wow:

It would certainly explain him sounding like an old man. :oldrazz:

Who can forget the friggin ice Telescope for Batman and Robin? :woot:

Someone who hasn't seen it since they were 8 :oldrazz:

I was going to put Joker gas, but technically it wasn't a machine. Either way, I think it counts but I didn't want to start an argument about whether it does or not.

I'm not worried about the voice, didn't Tom say that he cannot speak properly in the mask? I think big work will be done post production on the voice.

Yeah, I think Hardy can't properly talk and Bale is practically deaf with the cowl on. Loved the description of them acting together. :funny:

I'm sure this has been said countless times, but people are still complaining about the voice, so whatever.

That audio is taken from people high in the stands. It's distorted and reverbed as all hell, and is in no way a representation of what we will hear. I can't wait for the trailer, so all these same whiners come back and freak out due to Tom Hardy's palpable sexualized man-ness.

This part had me LMAO. :awesome::up:

This talk about the voice is all one big circle-jerk. Wait for the movie and then decide, do you have nothing else to discuss besides the voice? Or if you are going to discuss the voice maybe discuss about why it might sound as it does (which some of you have done)!

Yeah, I think I can understand the initial backlash at least partially, because it's such a weird and unexpected choice for his voice. But I'd have thought most people would've gotten over their initial shock, as it's not like they'll change it now(or maybe they will in post-production, who knows). What's clear to me is that talented people such as Hardy and Nolan would have a valid reason for going in this direction with Bane's voice. Whether or not their rationale holds water or not, we'll have to wait and see. Not to mention that on screen, there's a real possibility the voice will sound almost nothing like in the audio clips.

Why is it SO HARD for people who are convinced the voice will be cool to accept:

"The Voice we heard sucked and is laughable"

Why is it SO HARD for people who are convinced the voice will be fail to accept:

"The Voice we heard sucked and is laughable but, probably will be changed OR the quality of the recording is effecting it"

Most of everyone is agreeing. The voice was weird and strange and we hope he doesn't sound exactly like that.

Why turn it into an argument with silly added criterion?

With regards to the earthquake machine: perhaps this is the governments way, through Hollywood, of letting the sheep know what HAARP actually does? Sorry, couldn't help myself.:)

hahaha oh wow.

Where is

Why is it SO HARD for people who are convinced the voice will be fail to accept:

"The Voice we heard will fit the character in the movie"

?

And youre wrong. There are us who deosnt think its wierd OR hope that it'll change.

I'll be waiting for a proper voice sample. From like a new teaser, thank you very much.

Because its par for the course to start a civil war over minor trivial things and for both sides go to extremes. You either have to think the film is gonna be a classic or You have to think its gonna suck ,and there's no middle ground of let's wait and see .

Yeah he conveniently left that question out lol. I think it sounds
vert strange personally. But as i said I'm more intrigued than anything as to why some as talented as hardy together w Nolan chose this voice....

Read my post more closely.

I wasn't suggesting that your line of thinking wasn't in there. just that the opposite to what you think are arguing against themselves.

I left out your train of thought because I have no problem with it...it's that way of thinking that allows the forum to work. the Disagreements beget discussion.

However when one side of the argument is arguing against the same side, it takes up space and time.

I like to see more discussion with your idea vs. the one's I mentioned in my quote.

Man, not to be an arse but your sig is gold in reflection to what you said.

You want to explain which part in my sig and how? Because you guys judging an unfinished movie and scene is just priceless to me.

A lot of movie characters sound dumb or silly on set.

u guys are weird complaining about everything. Bane's voice is frikkin amazing...I def did NOT expect that but I trust in Nolan. Catwomans suit is new and I want to see what is done with her role. I cant judge from one pic.

Give me the movie already! I CANT WAIT!

As someone who was at Heinz Field yesterday, I can say for a certainty that the clip online is exactly what everyone in the stands heard, and that everyone around me wasn't too impressed by the voice. However, from the multiple takes we got the impression that the first few lines were sarcastic, which is why the delivery is so over the top (it was actually more cartoonish prior to that delivery). Also be aware that about 50% or more of the dialogue was not broadcast from the scene

What someone said earlier is also true: after shooting took place he did the voice talking to the crowd, and it sounded a thousand times better and menacing than what is in the clip.

Besides that, the costume and Tom Hardy himself looked incredible in person, and none of the spy photos do it justice. He came right up to the stands to pass out t-shirts, and you could tell just how detailed the clothing and mask are, and how amazing it's going to look in IMAX.

Voice is cool, some of the delivery is very off. That's my standpoint. It's not like this was the only take they did.

Ah, ok, I did not get that sense in your post, but now I see. Apologies to you good sir :)

His voice is so far the most interesting thing about him and garners many questions. First of all the fact that we see this strong massive predatory man, who even our own dark knight hero trembles before. And then we hear, from this same titan, a voice of a, well, gentleman... sort of.. haha. This is really exciting!

That's awesome.

Thanks for sharing.

This is a clear case of a voice I'll have to get used to, but there is a quality that I like in there. Very pompous and mocking, very leader-like. Hard to imagine he'll be written as a mere lackey. And... WHAT THE HELL is he trying to do with Gotham?

It does surprise me to hear him so... theatrical, though.

Haha, that's so awesome that he stayed in character. It's like Bane actually talked to you guys. I'm so jealous.

Method-acting at it's finest. ;)

Still can't say if Hardy's Bane is South American or not. From the voice we've heard I'm guessing not. But you never know.

Thanks for the details, dude.

With regards to the part of your post I bolded...do you mean that 50% of the dialogue was not broadcast in the leaked clips online or during the actual shoot?

One major detail I forgot to say from yesterday, the man with the microphone (I believe it was the AD) was giving us direction about what to do when the explosions go off and Bane emerges from the tunnel, and said that Bane was part man, part machine.

I don't know if this is something that has already been confirmed, but it may explain the voice, the grunting and odd noises, and that the facemask is keeping him alive. That might be the reason he sounded in pain the entire time.
