All I'm asking is that they shoot Tom Hardy so that he will be noticeably taller than Bale as Batman. I'm not asking for the part to be recast with the tallest, most steroid-filled actor you can find.

If you can't be bothered to understand what I'm talking about then don't bother replying. It's insulting to my intelligence.

This.
And I'm still 100% sure that Nolan will shoot it that way.

Just look at Keaton and Basinger. Or Tom cruise, Downey Jr. and many more.
It's an old trick, and has been done many times before even for characters where it was unnecessary.
That said, I'm certain Nolan will use those little tricks for a character where it is important.

I don't know how this is even debatable.
But if Nolan and Pfister don't do anything like that I grant all of you a virtual kick in my nuts.

This is why the Bat forums are often criticized.

At this point, I don't view you as an intellectual. I view you as some adolescent narcissist. From here you can do one of two things:

1.) Don't reply to anything I ever write again

or

2.) We can neglect your recent childish comment, and continue on with a civil debate like gentlemen.

I do not appreciate these type statements. Do you understand?

I don't know why we are comparing Bane to Japanese swordsmen. Isn't that a bit different? Supposedly, most special forces soldiers are smaller than average height. But Bane is supposed to be a sentient representation of overwhelming physical force. The concept is represented much better by a big, muscular guy.

I think Nolan will achieve this by shoving the camera behind Hardy's ass, anyway.

Musashi and Hanzo were more than just swordsmen. They were masters of the Art of War, hand-to-hand combat, strategy, espionage, psychology, etc.

Does Bane not specialize in the same field(s)?

While Bane does represent an overwhelming force, size does not need to be a factor. The task is usually what is measured -- not the size of man.

Quick photoshop sketch, restrained by a mouse and limited photshop skills. My first interpretation of TDKR Bane!

Just kidding. It's pretty cool, plus I couldn't do it better. I'm a total photoshop noob.

His point was that the character of Bane has always been someone who represents that age old "Goliath" fear. The mastermind fighter that's also the pinnacle of human size and power. You are right, size does not need to be a factor in a person of great skill or power. But Bane is a character that specifically plays up the aspect of size. It's part of who and what he is. To ignore it would be frankly....silly.

Because if you wanted a Bat-villain that was a masterful fighter and you weren't really bother about size, why not use Lady Deathstrike? Or Deathstroke.

Being psychically intimidating has always been a part of the character of Bane. The same way the clown motif has always been a part of the Joker.

The more I look at the new vision of Bane, the more I like it. The whole height/muscle issue is non-existent to me, since Hardy allready looks very intense in some shots. He doesnt need to be comicaly beefed, the most important thing is for the character to be potrayed hardcore, and I am not vorried about that. Hardy is an actor with a penchant for playing intense, pychotic characters.

The jacket is also an idea that grown on me hugely, these past few days. Gives Bane this kind of nonchalant, torn down, rugged look which somehow fits the charater for me visually. I can allready imagine him stroling into gotham in that leather. Beats walking around in Luchador spandex.:yay:

Of course, but let's say that Nolan decides to go in another direction.

What if Nolan introduces Venom, and while it doesn't increase Bane's height, it increases Bane's strength and speed to superhuman levels? From the set pics, Hardy appears to be a thick bastard (and his body double seems to be thick as hell too), is that enough? Bane can still be considered a monstrous force with the Venom.

I guess the same argument continues and may not end even until the next trailer or the film itself is released. One thing is proven Hardy is not thick or muscular people I don't know what pics some of u that are stating that are looking at, but I'd love for u to post them.

I'm happy with having Hardy play the character of Bane but those That are still saying the chap is huge, thick or bulked must just be in pure denial

If the character is great and I care for what's going on in his narrative...

I won't give 10 ****s what he looks like physically. I trust in Nolan, he isn't an idiot.

mark my words... once we see his performance nobody will care about his size the way nobody cared about The Joker not being perma white.

it actually will benefit the film, make him unique and grounded in reality compared to other versions of Bane, like Heath's Joker.
