The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XIV

I hope they have some long tracking shots in the fight sequences. Particularly the riot scene. Have the camera follow Bane as he stomps around smashing people up trying to get to Batman, for example.

No quick cuts that try to hide the poor choreography please.
on the stairs they used the imax camera on the crane. this will be fantastic. if imax forces Nolan to use long shots then THANK GOD :awesome:

I don't get it. The fight scenes in TDK were far longer than in BB...

Although the fight scenes in BB were far too close up and in your face. They felt more raw, visceral and real than they did in TDK.

I would mean they should use quick cuts in the same way as in Warrior

It's pretty amazing that despite all the set pics that leaked, we're still not 100% sure as to what Bane's origins could be in this movie. I suppose most of that were shot in London at the closed sets.

^ I would think so. The Batcave is apparently at the MGM Studio and it wouldn't be surprising that they have something in the WB studio as well.

So, I was delivering to the Venetian casino last week and I think I found out where they got the idea for Bane's new mask. The Blue Man Group!

well then people just complained about them being too slow... it's hard to satisfy sometimes. not saying the TDK fight scenes are amazing in any way. but at least to me there is more important things to a movie than that.

anyway, anyone else loves when Batman fights his way too Maroni in TDK? Might be my favorite Batman scene in TDK, both in fighting and acting.

"I'm counting on it"

Love the desperation of Batman in TDK and it's showcased perfectly by Bale in that scene.

Bane won't have an origin, he's just a plot device for the all the other characters. This movie is all Selina/Catwoman. :o

LOL I take it you just read that comment at the Catwoman thread. :hehe:

My two favorite Batman scenes in TDK have to be his introduction and the skyhook scene in Hong Kong.

Even saying favorite is a bit of lie because I really enjoyed all of the fight scenes in Batman Begins and TDK. For my taste it nailed what Batman is all about. The frantic motions in Begins and the traces of sound and sightings Batman left in it were obviously that of someone just using their gained abilities into action. In TDK you get a sense of comfortability in Batmans movements and his appearing and disappearing act is so refined that he's literally become some sort of phantom.

I mostly agree. I do think the fights could be better, they weren't perfect in either film, but I was satisfied with what we were given. It actually does go along with characterization, which is probably not the thing one would first think about when watching fight scenes.

Just saw Warrior... HOLY ****.

Please pardon my language, but any doubts I ever had about Hardy (and I didn't have much to begin with) are all gone. He's going to give us one of the most memorable villains ever!

But there's one thing I don't understand... some of you are saying the way the fight scenes are shot in Warrior are much better than in BB. When really, they're almost exactly the same if not more shaky.

Warrior's fight scenes are better in the sense that the action is faster (thus looking more natural), and you can "feel" the contact of each hit.

The only time I got that sensation in Nolan's films was when Maroni fractured his ankles from the fall. Everything else looks painfully slow and choreographed.

In my opinion, of course.

I have to agree Boom, Warrior had fast cut fight scenes but they were super intense with still being able to tell whats going on, it was almost like you could feel the hits.

The fight scenes in TDK were terrible, the fight scenes in BB had bad choreography but were shot in a way that made them look good.

I loved Warrior's style of shooting and editing a fight, but it's almost exactly like BB's. But yeah, Warrior's fight scenes had good choreography and were just overall more powerful.

It was very visceral.

Takes some true skill to pull that off.

Take this with a grain of salt since the source is The Sun:

Tom Hardy is on his way to the top

He's been wearing specially made shoes fitted with three-inch lifts so he can be the same size as co-stars Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman.

The former model is hardly struggling for height at 5ft 9in.

But the film's producers wanted his character, Bane, to be of similar height to Batman and Freeman's Lucius Fox, who are both over 6ft.

Wearing Tom Cruise's shoes has led to some ribbing.

He's also been the victim of on-set pranks. Tom wears a voice box which controls the pitch of his speech.

It's set low to give him a villainous tone but the sound effects team have been amusing themselves by speeding up the frequency and making To`m sound like a Bee Gee.

We've seen Hardy in the Bane get-up up close. He neither has (3 inch) lifts nor a voice box. Both would be very easily spotted.

Bad fight scenes in a movie about Batman is unforgivable. We're talking about one of the greatest martial artists in fiction here. The fight scenes should be iconic, legendary. They should be making it onto "best movie action scene" lists regularly.

Batman is highly skilled in martial arts but his moves are quick and efficient. There's nothing really there that'll rank him as best fight scene.
