The Dark Knight Rises Tom Hardy as Bane XXIV

Guys it has to be ADR. Wasn't Oldman saying almost all the IMAX scenes had to be redubbed afterward due to the noise of the IMAX cameras?

Nolan, Hardy an co. seemed to be pretty confident in interviews that people wouldn't have trouble understanding Bane in the movie. Maybe they just altered Bane's voice for the trailer in order to get people to shut up, and are keeping his voice the same in the movie itself. I hope so- I'd hate to think that they changed such an important part of the movie in order to appease the internet.

What do you think banes strength level is going to be like? Is he intended to be a miror to bruce and be as strong as him? or someone a good deal stronger where batman would need more than just brute force to defeat?

Well, I think Bane will be a very formidable foe. Smart and tough, just like his comic counterpart. Though Bale said that Bruce is older and Bane is the last person he'd want to face in his current condition - so I think even though Bane will be like a freight train, Bruce will be at a disadvantage before they even fight, at least in the beginning. He'll be someone to overcome.

I would surely like him to be stronger than a mere mortal. But I also want Batman to beat him without using tricks, just with brute strength.

ADR was used quite often in TDK due to the IMAX camera. I didn't see anyone complain about that. In fact ADR is more common than people imagine.

It's not the use of ADR that's bothersome; it's the fact that it's painfully obvious ADR. In Trailer 3 Bane's audio was both louder and more clear than any of the other dialogue in the trailer. It didn't sound whatsoever like he was speaking from behind a mask in whatever scene he was in...it sounded like someone reading overtop of shot footage. Not saying the actual movie will be like that, but if it is, it will be distracting as hell and bizarre to watch.

Yes, ADR is common, but when Darth Vader talks in Star Wars, it doesn't sound completely different in sound quality than everyone else in the film; it sounds like a dude speaking from behind a weird ass helmet.

Yeah Bane IS NOW LOUDER than everyone else in the trailer and his words are clear. His words being clear is a good development if it sticks, but I'm uncertain about the former working if it's that way in the movie now.

Trailer 2: waaaaa his voice is too mumbled! :waa:
Trailer 3: waaaaa his voice is too clear!:waa:

This. Yes, thank you!

His voice was perfect in trailer 2, what are you talking about?
Yes, I think so too, but alot of people didnt understand that version either :whatever:

It just feels like some sort of "goldilocks syndrome". They will never get the voice right in the ears of some fans

Sadly true.

I wouldn't let it bother you, obin. ;)

That's probably an unfortunate truth, but I think somewhere in between Trailer 2 and Trailer 3 would be the perfect medium for Bane's voice: a bit clearer for those who couldn't understand him well enough in Trailer 2, but still a bit muffled/distorted so it actually sounds like he is speaking from behind a mask and not into a studio microphone like he sounds in Trailer 3 lol.

Trailer 3: waaaaa his voice is too clear!:waa:
The thing is these aren't the same people, they're two different parties. Most people who dislike the new voice were able to understand the original and didn't think it was "mumbled", and the people who didn't like the "mumbled" voice are happy now. Also to say his voice is "too clear" is a bad generalization of that position, my issue isn't with it's clarity, it's with the unnatural delivery and dumbing down of the original to allow certain people to understand it.

I got that too the first times I heard it in the trailer on my computer. But on my hi-fi surround-system it was waaaay less noticeable and had a great impact.

I think in the context of the whole movie and with great sound it will be a non-issue for people come July.

When I heard Bane talking in the theater before Avengers, I liked the disconnect in his voice.

The line "I'm Gotham's reckoning" does have the tinny, mechanical quality that his line in trailer 2. The "punishment" bit is the line that there is a clear different, where it sounds like Hardy is speaking directly into a microphone and there's a disconnect between the sound and the scene. I'm not sure why it's different; I personally prefer the way it sounds in the first line and in trailer 2.

What I don't understand is how people can't understand him; I could hear him just fine when everyone heard him out in the field, and it seemed to progress every time afterwards.

His voice is completely different now compared to this scene. This scene will sound different, no doubt, in the theater and the final cut. His voice is a constant progression...which isn't exactly a bad thing as long as it gets better and it's Hardy doing the voice. :)

I´d like that too but wouldn´t be logic Bruce being older and out of fighting for so long, he will have to use surprise and tricks like in Dark Knight Returns plus maybe an improved suit like in the same comic book.

in their first encounter, he's not only older, he's also and mostly out of shape because he's surely not training like he used to. But he'll gain his strength back during his time in the prison. Bane may still have the upper hand, but he'll probably be more than able to handle his own in their last encounter.

Yep. We see them face off and physically fight when the armies clash, so Bruce is up for it.
