The more pictures I see of her, the sadder I become that she didn't end up as Romanoff. And I like Johansson in the role quite a bit. But I think Blunt is a good actress and can handle the role of Carol Danvers just fine. And she looks fine for the role too. She doesn't have to get the part if they get someone else good, but I don't think anyone should be disappointed with what she can do.

This role is potentially a much better role for her. She will be in the lead role and potentially carrying a franchise (or sub-franchise depending on how you look at it). BW is in a lot of movies, but is always playing second fiddle. Agent Carter would have been a step down from BW.

Still, I agree with you. Emily Blunt has obviously worked hard to perfect her craft and has become a top notch actor. She deserves all of the good roles that come with that kind of work. She'll do just fine whether she's cast in this role or not and all I can say is "good for her".

Agree. I've thought that from the start. She would've been the perfect Black Widow. Scarlett might be good, but I don't think she's the perfect casting in the same way that when you see someone like Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Blunt would have not only looked remarkably like Natasha but also would've brought another special quality that I think Scarlett lacks. ScarJo still seems like a girl at times. She actually resembles Yelena Belova far more, especially with her natural blonde hair. Blunt's facial features resemble Nat's, and then top it off with a red hairdo and it's uncanny.

And that's why for me, seeing Blunt as Carol would just be painful, especially if seeing her alongside ScarJo as Widow. It would drive home that point even more and everytime I see Blunt, I'd think "no, that's the true Widow."

To correct the mistake would be to wait for Black Widow to be recast, and then recast Emily Blunt in the role. Even if she's 40 at the time, she would still be ideal for Widow, as she can be someone who is older and more experienced.

That's just red meat for this crew (my apologies to the vegetarians out there). Someone must think we need pictures for rampant speculation. Well let me tell you we don't need ANYTHING. We can just make $#!t up anytime we want to.

EDIT: Now I'm getting really psyched. If they do have a brief, visually occluded scene of her in AoU, I wonder if they have already selected someone or could add someone in during post production. Since I like to make $#!t up, I think they've already selected Emily Blunt, we'll see a brief view of her during an air battle and Marvel is keeping this one of their closest secrets. In fact, it's only known to Emily, her agent, Joss and his inner circle. That's why Emily has been so coy about whether she's been contacted by Marvel.

I didn't realize she (Emily) is 5'7". For some reason, I thought she was a few inches shorter than that. Probably because she generally looks rather slim and petite (But she sure was buffed out in Edge of Tomorrow. I read about her pre-film training. It was pretty impressive.).
