Why I like the Avengers

And the JLA hasn't always been comprised of the most powerful either. May I remind people of the Detroit league?

Vibe could whoop on Darkseid.:o

All right, I was gonna let it slide, but now that it's happened twice: it's "composed." Teams are composed of characters. "Comprised" means the opposite. Characters comprise teams.

Anyway, yeah, the League has had its ups and downs in power, too. Giffen's League wasn't very powerful, either.

Corp....your a nerd.

And I don't know, the JLI had some power. Fate, Captain Marvel, the Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Captain Atom. They had some power. But the best moments came from the under powered types. Like Blue and Gold.

Fate and Captain Marvel were barely there, and Guy was a horribly ineffective GL at the time. Manhunter and Atom were legitimate powerhouses, but the Avengers generally have two or more major powerhouses on their team--Thor, Iron Man, Wonder Man, etc.

What the physically most powerful team the Avengers have ever had?

Wasn't THor, Namor, Herc, and Wonderman on the same team once?

No, but Captain America, Gilgamesh, Quasar, She-Hulk, Sub-Mariner, and Thor were on the team at the same time. Ironically, although that line-up packs a lot of power, it's probably most people's least favorite because of Gilgamesh.

Damn I forgot about that line-up.

Why all the hate for that particular Character?

I never understood all the hatred. Gilgamesh seems like a decent character. He's an Eternal and other Eternals have worked well on the Avengers. Granted, I've only read the Avengers issues where he's unconscious and the Avengers are struggling to get him to Sersi for healing.

About two pages back or so, I asked gildea to tell us what the concept behind the Avengers is, and I was actually planning to ask Doc the same, but my internet connection got cut off, and I forgot about it afterwards.

Anyway, we all got the concept right, but I do see, for a large part of the New Avengers' career right now, that they are hardly bandied together to fight immense threats. Maybe that will change with this Collective thing, let's hope so, and maybe we can get some old-school Avengers action back.

...just kidding.;)

This isnt The Avengers,as far as i know. The Avengers is ment to be one of the most important comics that Marvel has to offer,The Avengers are argubily the best team in the MU.They deal with the Fantastic Four,Spider-Man,Dr.Strange and others.

This isnt all about Bendis, but he is to blame for this. Its the writer`s word, and alot dont think Bendis did a good job.Im waiting for him to get kicked off the writer`s chair and someone else take his place.

Dissembled wasnt even needed, who`s idea was it for Bendis to go onto the Avengers anyway?

***** all you want, the books numbers have DOUBLED since he came on board. You're not gonna convince anyone at Marvel that they made a bad choice

You could probably convince some other creators. The decision-makers would stand by Bendis, though. At least until sales start dipping.

The numbers have doubled due to the members on the team who sell no matter WHAT titles they're on.

It's a shame the writing isn't as top notch as the characters.
