Wonder Woman Rotten Tomatoes Prediction Thread - Part 1

Yeah I generally don't pay attention to audience scores on Fandango, RT or IMDB, because of how easily inflated/altered they are. The only ones I pay attention to are CinemaScore, and even then that's only for certain types of films.

Yeah, with most of those there is no guarantee that the voters have even seen the movie. At least CinemaScore is given by those who attended the film at the theater.

I was about to say the same thing. It's really odd they do it that way. Plus some of the ones that do bother to say anything leave some really strange critics.

This movie was a chick flick disguised as a super hero movie.

It only has a positive review due to it being a female lead role superhero film. How is it possible better recieved audience wise compared to Citizen Kane known as one of the best films of all time. Open your eyes.

Rotten Tomatoes has officially lost all credibility, They certify this fresh just because it's a woman. Same with Supergirl Season 1. I am done with them

Audience Scores
WW: 93%, 4.5 (This score can be lowered after being out for a while)
Logan: 91%, 4.4
Guardians Vol 2: 90%, 4.3

I just checked Logan and it's at 93. Must have got a few fresh since the video release. Now at 294 reviews. WW at 242 reviews. So yeah places still left to review WW but I expect them to trickle in.

Yep, there's this one twitter account that's finding positive Logan reviews that are not added and asking them to be added. Has been doing this the last two days.

I believe Erzengal is talking about the audience ratings.

Same on IMDb. And they're always sooo mad that we love these movies, it's so funny and ridiculous Lolz.

Is it safe to assume , 6 in a row? If the next it gets it is a negative one, how many would it need? twice as many ?

There haven't been added 11 positive reviews. It will back at 94 if there's no another troll review (there will be another one trying ofc).

Anyone who understands how Audience Ratings works on RT will know they hardly ever give an accurate picture either way especially with properties with built in fan bases or prejudices because of points highlighted by other posters.

A far more accurate indication to quality is the Critic Average Score.

That is not my point! The point is that people paint MoS SS and BvS as trash and everyone thinks it's trash when clearly that is not the case. Not being rated as high as another group of films and not making as much money does not equal horrible/disaster/trash etc.

The issue with user generated scores is that they're unreliable data. My screening for BvS was one of the first in the world, and sure enough when I came home at 4am the user score on RT was at 90% with over 10,000 user submitted ratings. So either a bunch of diehard fans gave false score to elevate the percentage before the rest of the world got to see the movie, or about 10,000 Aussies and Kiwis who went to midnight sessions across the two nations all logged onto RT immediately after their screening and unanimously voted in favour of the film.

Everyone is never going to agree and I'd agree it's not the most perfect of systems but if the former DCEU movies are rated as high as some of the cbm which aren't considered the best of the genre what does that say about them?

Is it just semantics that some people don't want them to be called trash? But they certainly don't come off as "beloved" or "revered".

I don't understand... How many people from Guardian are reviewing this?

https://www.theguardian.com/film/20...-gloriously-badass-breath-fresh-air-gal-gadot

I dunno. I was confused because the Guardian called her a weaponised smurfette before and didn't think much of the movie.

It's as if all their staff don't know what others have said and are writing articles independently of one another.

But really, why would all staff at a newspaper have the same opinion as each other?

cinemascore for me is a good indicator of how legs are gonna be(all things being equal).

However I find it incredibly flawed in that it's more a measure of expectation and how that get's met.

Which is why it caught my eye. Can Guardian decide to swap the reviews?:gngl:

The initial Guardian reviewer either has serious personal issues or deliberately did a hit job on the movie, it was filled with unnecessary hyperbole meant not to critique the movie, just disparage it.

He was also confused by Diana saying women don't need men for sexual pleasure :funny:

But fury road and inception..
so sad.
Yeah, B+ is not great on cinemascore. We know that Inception and Fury Road, while liked, weren't the most broadly loved films by the GA. Inception (which is my favourite modern film) was a bit too complex for parts of the GA to enjoy (especially on first viewing, which is when cinemascore would be polled, rather than months later on blu-ray) as much as something more straightforward like Avengers. And Fury Road quite obviously isn't aiming at being an all out pleasing everyone type film. That doesn't say anything about how good it is.

:funny: I must have missed that part, that's hilarious - this makes me think even more that it's a highly elaborate troll and not someone's sincerely held opinion!

Yeah back at 94!! **** yeah!

What's gonna take to get it down to 93? a negative review? or a couple in a row?

Back at 94

If you don't round it as much it's actually at 93.52%. So it only takes a single negative to drop it to 93.15% which rounds to 93% again.
(As a math exercise, for a 95% it would take 50 more positive review and 0 negatives to get to 94.50% which rounds to 95%)

Christopher Orr is probably the only movie reviewer who I regularly read from, so I was disappointed when the Atlantic published a review and it wasn't from him. Thankfully he just posted one now and it's Fresh so hooray!
