The Dark Knight Rises Worst character of the trilogy?

Doctor Who, I can't help but read your posts with Liam Neeson's voice. Please write something epic :P

I really can't understand why you all hate Talia. I felt that the connection between Rises and Begins was one of the coolest things. She tied the story pretty neatly and Bane fits perfectly there.

Something.

Epic.

:cwink:

I don't know about the others, but I agree that bringing back full circle was a great thing to do and for that to happen Talia had to be included.

I an happy that we finally got Talia in a Batman movie.

Agreed.

Talia was a waste of screen time. Tate was boring as hell. Talia's screen time was so short, and her death scene so badly done. Rises didn't need to go full circle by rehashing the LOS. Hated Bane being their cast off. He should have been his own man and not living for someone else's work.

Yup Talia is one of the worst characters in the trilogy. So glad most people feel that way. I can't imagine how anyone wouldn't feel that way. She was a waste of space.

LOL It's funny how you say this, only because now it seems like Bane has a problem of letting things go.

Bane: "I am the League of Shadows. I'm here to fulfill Ra's Al Ghul's destiny!"

Ra's: *scoff* I never liked you; I excommunicated your asthmatic @$$ to keep you away from my daughter, you dirty child-loving perv.

Bane: :waa:

To be fair though, he probably was 12 or 13 at the time, so it isn't completely unheard of; especially in a foreign country. But anyway, yes. I feel that Bane and Talia were downplayed quite a bit, but in no way was it ever really a disappointment to me.

It's just how they decided to go about their inclusion of Talia that bothers me. I really love the LoS from Begins so bringing them back wasn't necessarily my problem but rather how they went about it.

I didn't come in hating the idea like some did here. In fact I was excited for it but even then I think many aspects in regards to Talia especially were fumbled.

Talia is such a cool character, but she was only used in a chase scene, which is the same scene she died. They should have done more with her. If that meant getting rid of the Miranda Tate/Talia plot twist and just having Talia without that twist, I would have been all for that.

At first, I thought there was going to be a surprise fight (without any of the footage being shown in trailers) with her and Bane against Batman and Catwoman.

I am not going to say she was the worst character, but by far the biggest disappointing character of the trilogy.

Talia did not have to be included to bring things back full circle...full circle could of been done with just bruce alone...Tate/Talia offers nothing to this trilogy n will be the least memorable thing when ppl look back on it

Yeah, the whole talia story line just fell flat. You could have just kept Bane with his LOS connection to keep it full circle..

imo the LOS didnt have to come back either...the story has always been about bruce first...they could have done way more with this film if the LOS and talia were left out

Talia has never been that interesting to me , and unfortunately Nolan didn't change my view of her. While I can respect that he at least gave us a fan shout out, ultimately, the character that mattered was Catwoman, and we didn't get nearly enough of her...for me at least . :cwink:.

However, I think that Rachel is actually the worst. Its kinda half and half acting and writing. I like her character in concept , but the Nolan's weakness for female characters really shows itself with Rachel, which is unfortunate. Katie Holmes felt out of place but she had warmth to her, and you at least felt she cared about Bruce. Maggie seemed kinda distant and cold towards Bruce and not very torn. Imo she also had less chemistry with Bale then even Holmes did , though she really sold it with Harvey.

For my money TDKR Selina, Vicki Vale, BR Selina and Chase Merdian one up Rachel in the love interest departments. However, I still think the best one was Andrea Beaumont from BMOTP.Lol.

The movies were all good that I can't find a character I disliked so much as to start whining about it.

CIA Agent at the start of TDKR is really underdeveloped. I want to know WHY he stands like a weirdo and where he developed his intimidating voice.

As opposed to what? Where are you from? I've lived and worked in numerous foreign countries and I mean foreign, like, you wouldn't be able to point it out on a nameless map, that foreign. I can guarantee you there as many cradle robber's in America as there are anywhere else. Some of the most, let say "western perceived" backward cultures have higher ethical standards than even the greatest superpowers of the earth. I mean all you need to do is brave the Appalachians or some of the more seedier places down in the bible-belt to get more than your fair share of yuck.

But I digress; I don't mean to jump on you or anything.

He does stand quite awkwardly in some shots. I can remember it being amusing back in December when I watched the prologue. Maybe there will be a special feature, "How a CIA agent is trained to stand awkwardly as intimidation for blindfolded captives."

I just couldn't like Rachel. She was bareable in Batman Begins, but I couldn't stand Maggie Gyllenhaal.

His body posture & mannerism while saying "...but only ONE of you.. *motions for door to open*" was one of the weirdest things and seemed really effeminate to me, or at least something that a guy who is about to throw a couple men out of an airborne plane would do. Granted, the hooded men couldnt see it but I just couldnt take him seriously

American.... *crawls into corner and sucks thumb* :csad:

I don't think Foley is a bad character. He's pretty small, we see him as a careerist, new face of the police force, but things change and I even enjoyed seeing him charge against LOS. I'm not sure why they cut his death, where he gets hit by Talia's Tumbler.

I'm still not sure why either. It would have been an awesome sendoff for the character, whether you liked him or not.

But yeah, I actually enjoyed Foley for what the character represented. He wasn't sleazy, but definitely a selfish careerist in the beginning of TDKR. I'm glad Gordon wasn't the one leading the cops on the pursuit of Batman during his return, because we all know Gordon wouldn't have tried hard to catch him and sabotage the whole mission. But with Foley he was so gung ho on catching The Batman - Harvey Dent's killer that it added to the tension of the scene.

But I'll admit, he wasn't as likeable as Stephens or even Ramirez, even though he's not suppose to be.

Yep, that's the main part I always think of when laughing at it. You described it very well that it is "effeminate". He doesn't really bother me that much other than that weird stance and just general annoyance. Much like Daggett, Bane did us all a favor in eliminating them from the movie.

CIA guy, really detracted from an otherwise well dont introduction to Bane...

I view Talia as a horrible character because I know the character from the comics..as such she didn't measure up in the movie...if anything it comes off as more of a name drop for the fans.
