The Dark Knight Rises Worst character of the trilogy?

As far as main characters go, Talia was the worst character in the trilogy, just a waste.

Both Rachels were inadequate too, and were miscast. These are the only two weak major characters.

So hard to pick from an incredible ensemble.

I would say Selina Kyle was the worst. At least Talia's inclusion made sense to the plot. Kyle's character felt tacked on for the sake of it. Take her out the story and the story pretty much remains in tact. She was there to steal Wayne's prints and that's it, any thief for hire could have been written in to do that. It's why she disappeared half way through the movie and then showed up at the end. Really, there was just way too many new characters in TDKR. They balanced them pretty well in TDK, but some suffered for the sake of others in Rises.

I remember reading comments from the film makers that the Selina character was going to steal the show ala The Joker in TDK. This is laughable now, seeing as she barely gets enough screen time to shine.

That's so untrue. Selina Kyle is the catalyst that awakes Bruce from his slumber. She's the one that gives him the reason to start living again and ultimately helps him rediscover the purpose of his life. As somebody else said it before me, she is his reward for having faith in humanity.
At least in my eyes that makes her pretty damn important. If you judge importance by the number of fight scenes one appears in, then that's your problem.
In my opinion the Joker felt forced to steal the show and that's why he didn't do it for me. I pretty much knew that he wouldn't die and he wouldn't kill Batman either.
In Rises, however, I was actually expecting Bats to die and that made the experience just so much better.

How did he feel "forced" to steal the show? He had less screen time than Batman, Dent, and even Gordon.

Of course he wouldn't kill Batman. Batman dead after only two movies? LOL. You knew Joker wouldn't die? Now where would you get the idea that Joker would live? Could it be that Nolan killed one villain (Ra's) and let the other villain live (Scarecrow) in his previous movie?

In Rises, however, I was actually expecting Bats to die and that made the experience just so much better.

Of course you felt that way. You knew it was the end of the trilogy, and the trailer headlines about the end of a hero's journey and all of that made it seem like Batman could die. Technically he did in terms of the story. Gotham believed he was dead and Bruce retired.

I never said anything about fight scenes; scenes in general. As i said she disappears from the middle of the movie due to too many other characters. She was not needed at all.

After much thought John Blake was clearly the worst character IMHO.

The supposed love interests. Both Rachel's were boring (but Maggie was tolerable at least) and Miranda was meh

What's there to elaborate on?

Christian Bale delivered one of the most overrated performances in comic-book movie history with these past three films. He makes Marlon Wayans role in Blankman look Oscar-Worthy by comparison.

:awesome:

Talia and I'm assuming she's the reason we have this thread.

^ After seeing TDKR this Saturday for the 3rd time people still laugh at Talia's death scene, I guess French people die in a funny way beats me.

Marlon Wayans wasn't in Blankman. That was Damon.

Selina/Catwoman probably doesn't have that much less screen time than Joker. Joker has 33 minutes and 10 seconds of screen time. That can't be that much less than Catwoman. She drives the first act while Bruce is still retired.

The worst major character is Rachel. She's just lame.

I agree. Rachel Dawes character has a huge impact on Bruce's motivations throughout the entire saga, and you really need to see an actress, and have the writing, which demonstrates to us why she would be so meaningful to Bruce, and to the audience.

Talia was weak, but ultimately her character didn't impact ,the overall saga enough to really make her the worst imo. She falls more into the SM3 venom syndrome of fanservice shout outs.

Yeah, Blankman was a movie that really needed Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard's special touch.

Blake or Miranda.

Also, all the hype surrounding Hathaway's Catwoman made me feel hugely disappointed with her. Not bad, but not impressive at all.

Best character of the trilogy? Gordon. Gary Oldman rocks! Underused in TDKR unfortunately. Joker and Scarecrow are obvious favorites as well.

Yeah I really think you are really under playing Selina's importants in this movie just as Demon Hunter said.

Fan service? I doubt half the GA even cared or knew who Talia was...I really didn't recall anybody begging for Talia to be in this last film...venom was the biggest letdown ever
