Joker is the main draw for SS IMO

Yep, add Harley Quinn along with Batman and unless that movie has terrible early word it's gonna score big.

Several cinemas here are doing midnight premieres. On Wednesday evening X-Men marathons are been screened in an unprecedented 33 cities (was 31) throughout the country on 38 screens (was 36). The demand is so big that a handfull will be doing it once again on May 21st (Saturday).

So therefore i fully expect Apocalypse to outgross DOFP's dutch box office of $3,522,349. Whether it can break Deadpool's phenomenal $5,424,206 gross (and counting) remains to be seen.

Apocalypse does have the benefit of been released in 2D, 3D, IMAX 3D and Dolby Cinema. Plus in the past two years since DOFP a few new multiplexes have been opened.

No idea how well DOFP did in Belgium, but I never seen an X-movie getting as much promo as X-Men: Apocalypse gets.

Suicide Squad will definitely do good numbers thanks to the Joker and Harley. However, I do think BvS could've hurt it a little bit, being too dark and bombastic.

the marketing for the UK has pretty good with the sky broadband ad that has gone down quite well to the regular tv spots and bus posters, i dunno whether i will be seeing it tuesday midnight or wednesday yet

No idea how well DOFP did in Belgium, but I never seen an X-movie getting as much promo as X-Men: Apocalypse gets.

Deadpool is the top grossing X-Men movie in Belgium with $3,808,750 but it did not score much better (surprisingly) than DOFP's $3,334,394 according to Box Office Mojo.

Since Captain America CW was released in late April the promotion has really kicked into overdrive here too. Spots are airing on tv and more posters/standees are showing up in cinemas.

My only gripe about the promotion is the lack of product tie-ins in this region. At least on DOFP we had Pringles.

Joker is the main draw for SS IMO. I think Harley is a big draw too, not just because she's a cool and popular DC character but she appears to be a unique and kooky CBM lady compared to the more 'played straight' vast majority of women in CBMs

I am not even sure i will see surcide squad.last trailer looked too jokey for me.
Joker going be trailer may not even be in film that much.

Yeah its been brill in UK... Olivia Munn's drunken wine tasting on Sunday Brunch last week made it to Goggle Box. There's been constant TV and radio interviews, the cast seem really really likable, so that helps sell this stuff too.

I am just interested in knowing whats so meaty about the role for will smith in suicide squad since he has been known to only be apart of movies if he is the main character so being part of an assemble where is just one of a bunch makes me wonder whether there is more promise in it for him in the movie or the future of the DC series

The most successful movies of The Batman franchise have The Joker, that's no coincidence. He's more popular then Batman itself. 630m and 540m adjusted for domestic alone for those films.

I don't think that Joker is more popular than Batman himself, if that were the case, we would have more Joker action figures than Batman, which isn't happening.

But two of them together in any movie will generate huge interest.

Yeah I just don't understand the hype for Suicide Squad at all. I'll only see it if it gets good reviews. The only character I'm interested in seeing is Captain Boomerang

These are easily the two most marketable villains in comics. That Suicide Squad teaser trailer does not have 66m views for Deadshot and Captain Boomerang.

These are easily the two most marketable villains in comics. That Suicide Squad teaser trailer does not have 66m views for Deadshot and Captain Boomerang.

Harley Quinn is going to be Margot Robbie's star-making role. Not that she's not already halfway there but she's going to be huge unless the film is absolutely horrific. The roles of Joker and Harley just have that impact.

Their initial prediction a few months ago was a 120 million four day opening weekend, then it dropped to 115, there may have been another drop between then and now but their latest prediction for Apocalypse is only 95 million OW including memorial day Monday and only 190 domestic total.

Personally I don't think that seems too unlikely. No one I know IRL seems to care about this, a lot of people online don't like what they are seeing, and the reviews aren't doing it any favors.

Oh, I can see why there is hype. I should have worded it differently and said I'm not hyped for it. Neither trailer has really done much for me, honestly.

But once again, we're talking about a movie with villains who are going superheroing. It's a different take and most of them are not popular.
