I'm telling you had they just move on with a X-Men 4 and just resurrect James Marsden's Cyclops, they could have redeemed him and Storm too especially if it didn't feature Magneto, Prof X and Jean. But no... we get a Wolverine trilogy first and a prequel trilogy focusing on Professor X, Magneto and Mystique! Then we are also getting Deadpool, New Mutants, X-Force and Gambit solo film in between those!

You know this movie series should be mostly about X-Men.... now the majority of the film series are a bunch of spin-offs. And we are still waiting for Cyclops, Storm, Rogue and Jean (to some degree) to get their due for becoming an overdeveloped or at least well developed X-Men character.

Seems like an excuse. Look at how popular Captain America is. Cyclops could technically be as big as him but poor lad just isn't given the chance.

Is captain america more popular then tony stark though? or does stark have the edge because he is a little more unpredictability

I am a cyclops fan but i would rather they grew him then just give him the mantel because he deserves it because you want the building blocks to flesh him out otherwise you just get X1 cyclops where there is a chance he can come across as abit of a d*ck compared to another character, i mean i have seen comments where people say they prefered wolverine to cyclops because the character is dull but i think thats down to the movies giving wolverine the edge, but then the cartoons did that too.

From what i can tell about this movie cyclops was fleshed out fine, probably more then he ever has in film, same with jean its just the arcs of all the characters were not very well structured together, i mean i even read a review that claimed j law didn't get much to do and was wasted in the role.

I'm only in favor of that if it means his progress is given the same importance Charles' progress has been given throughout the FC trilogy. But you know very well that isn't a foregone conclusion, especially if JLaw and Fassbender are still around. Not to mention the fact Singer is a Xavier fanboy and Kinberg is a Magneto fanboy.

I think Fox might go for a smaller budget for the next movie and see how it does. I could see Fox making an X-Men movie for like 160M. I think the problem with going to like Wolverine levels is that these movies is they have big ensembles and they need decent VFX. A lot of people say the reason they go to blockbusters is that they have spectacle you want to see on a big screen.

It seems like the X-Men have a domestic ceiling of a little less than 250. Given that Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy are beating Man of Steel and BvS, I think the problem might be the movies never hit the zeitgeist with the wider audience.

I think doing Mr. Sinister as the lead villain and keeping it low-key when it comes to action and scale could work. And Mr. Sinister's Marauders don't really have super crazy lloking powers, like a lot of them just have super strength. Anyway.... my dream roster for the X-Men film in the 90s!

X-Men:
Professor X
Cyclops
Phoenix
Storm
Beast
Nightcrawler
Jubilee

Marauders:
Mr. Sinister
Vertigo
Blockbuster
Harpoon
Prism

MIA
Magneto
Mystique
Moira MacTaggert
William Stryker
Quicksilver
Wolverine

Cameos
Kid Iceman
Kid Shadowcat
Kid Colossus
Kid Rogue

And the marauders could be all silent henchmen and few would complain. :woot: Another addition to the X-Men like Dazzler or Polaris or Forge would be cool but not really needed.

Oh and I hope they are done with Stryker as well. I'm sure there are other X-Men villains who haven't showed up in the big screen and could use that secondary villain role. People like Omega Red, Sauron, Shadow King, etc.

Omega Red should show up in Wolverine 3. While Sauron and Shadow King... I don't care about them.

And like LOL, FOx should hire me, because I really liked that roster that I just listed and that would be just so amazing if we get a film like that in the next film!

Magneto and Mystique should not be in the next film. Professor X should be there, but purely on a supporting level.

The main villain should be Mr. Sinister, focusing on Jean and Cyclops as the characters he is after, and tie in the Marauders and Murlocks into the story, will service Storm and Nightcrawler as well.

I like that idea, but I doubt Mystique will be back anyway btw.

Shadow King could make for a trippy, different X-Men movie. Remember in X-Men Legends when he kidnapped the Professor in the Astral Plane? They could make a movie about that. Have the entire team go into the Astral Plane (teleported by Kurt somehow) looking for him. That could also give them an excuse to bring back Psylocke and have her use her telepathy.

I think foregoing a secondary villain might be a good idea so that there are not too many plot strands.

I also think cutting down Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender would make the budget lower. But I feel like they need someone well-known and award-winning for Mr. Sinister!

And please don't introduce mutants in the level of Angel and Psylocke and just put them as a silent henchmen especially those two are X-Men core members in the comics! God! Simon Kinberg how come you don't know this or did he just ignore that and just put them in film with less than 10 words?!

Oh yeah I remember Shadow KIng from Legends and the cartoons... but I just don't think he's movie material, maybe a Storm solo film but a X-Men team movie, I don't think so.

Bryan Cranston has expressed interest in playing Mr. Sinister.
They need to make him look comic accurate though, like give him the classic look and be done with it. The whining about Apocalypse's design was too high.

Minus the diamond in his forehead, looks wise I think he's easier to translate into live-action. And his outfit is mostly black and navy blue.

Olivia Munn said the producers didn't even know Psylocke was a telepath. I mean the first thing I associate Psylocke with (aside from swimsuit costume) is telepathy.

Yeah, which is a shame.

When she does kill it's done beautifully and quite depressingly through telepathy. Like with Warren and Matsu'o death. The way she lets them go always screamed to be adapted imo.

Here I guess she is a no mercy full on villain. Probably was better being Kwannon. Would have been more interesting to have set her and Angel up already in X-Men and have Warren go to the darkside.

There's no relationship to the horsemen and X-Men from what I gather, which is why you should use X-Men as horsemen haha. Need those emotional ties.

I wouldn't exactly count her "killing" of Warren as a telepathic attack.

They need a true fan that maps out these films! I've been mapping out the future of the X-Men series since X2.... and what did I get in return in the actual films.... Gambit, Psylocke, Angel, Emma Frost, Havok, Bishop and Banshee all wasted and didn't even get to join the X-Men and call themselves a X-Man even for just 1 film. So looking back @ the days when I was mapping out which X-Man I wanna see next to join the team for X3/X4/X5/X6/X7... its pretty disappointing to realize that so many characters were wasted and while X-Men villains from the comics like Mystique and Quicksilver gets to join the X-Men in the movie verse.:whatever: Oh well.

Who said its an attack? She lets him go through telepathy making it look like a dream. Same with Matsu'o. She doesn't let him just sit there and die painfully. These where both tortured souls and she was giving them rest and peace.

Why would you not want to adapt that? Far more interesting, and arguably some of the best moments she has had in the comics.

Telepathy is clearly important to her as a character.

I think Psylocke's last minute addition might have been the start of the shaky plotting the film (reportedly) has. It might've made more sense for Xavier to be the fourth horseman because some reviewers have said in the actual film it is unclear why Apocalypse needs him.

If he's tired of switching bodies, the one he should be looking for is Wolverine lol...

Xavier and Magneto make sense cause there is a previous relationship established between the X-Men.

If horsemen have no connection then there's nothing in conflict beyond the physical fights. Might as well use the non X-Men horsemen. Otherwise someone like Havok being a horsemen would make more sense imo. Prof X, Mystique and Cyc would all have ties.

The filmmakers not being concerned with creating an actual emotional bond between these X horsemen misses the whole point on why this stuff worked in the comics. The X-Men cared about the people they were fighting. This is what makes Archangel a better villain then Apocalypse himself.

Honestly it's pretty easy to map out if time travel isn't used. You might get characters appear and join the team in a different order but after say 6 films all the main guys would have had a shot and hopefully be part of a squad or at least in universe so that they could be called on to join for any particular film. X3 really F'd up the potential of the X-Men CU and allowed it to be overtaken by a better planned universe.:csad:

Come on guys take your review spoilers to the spoiler thread. Let's talk box office.

Maybe I'm nitpicking but I really didn't want to hear about [BLACKOUT]certain characters being mute[/BLACKOUT], etc.

I knew a lot about the films to begin with from my set visit, I'm trying to balance that out with not reading any of these reviews.

There's a reason I only frequent the merchandize, box office and rottentomatoes score threads. :(
