Apocalypse X-Men: Apocalypse Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 2

Psylocke was a horseman for barely one issue, and the reasons for her being one were under very different circumstances.

They obviously turned her into a horsewoman because of her name recognition. Same with Angel. They are very popular with X-stans.

Its too bad though this is already their 2nd time to hopefully transcend to a bigger audience. And once again, not good enough.

Angel is the most popular horsemen so that's understandable. But they don't capture even 1% of why Warren works as a character or as Archangel.

Betsy was just thrown into the movie. Cause yeah, Psylocke is awesome and the filmmakers knew she would grab attention through promotion. Completely wasted.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear why Angel is included among the Horsemen, and it isn't just because of name recognition.

I'm predicting an OW of around $80-90M. It may go as high as 100 due to Deadpool.

They pretty much went with popular X-Men even if they didn't plan to develop them. Anyway I hope somehow, they could return without doing another recast.

its weird to get such negative buzz and then hear people say the audience applauded in their showing.

Also there was a time when we was talking about how fox were crazy to put it up against alice 2 but now i hear the opposite with what were Disney thinking putting it up against XA.

People applauded at my preview showings for X-Men 3 and BvS. They are hardcore fans who love seeing their favorite characters, usually at any cost.

Because even if Alice 2 is a flop, Disney guaranteed themselves success with Zootopia, Jungle Book and Captain America 3, and not to mention Finding Dory, Doctor Strange and Rogue One coming this year as well.
Fox is in different situation, because it's a property with a bigger-than-Alice2 fanbase and also a property they have a time-issue with (a property they may lose the rights to).

They also applauded at Spider-Man 3 and Amazing Spider-Man 2,give it time and people will start seeing all of this movie's shortcomings.

People in Vancouver rarely clap at the end of the movie. We watch these genre pics on opening weekend. They didn't clap for Civil War in Imax. Not for The Force Awakens. Definitely not for BVS. I can't remember the last time tbh. Maybe The Avengers?

I loved this movie.

The only movies I ever clapped in was DoFP and Deathy Hallows Part 2. My two fav franchises :D.

the only movie i did clapped was Civil War during Spider-Man's scene

The Civil War crowd at my screening clapped so loud during Spidey and Ant-Man that it was annoying.

Apocalypse got some claps at my screening with Quicksilver and a very meh reception at the end.

Audience was laughing at scenes that were intended not to be funny though in a few spots. As did a few reactions scenes with Psylocke and Apocalypse.

I think the crowd clapped at my midnite showing of The Force Awakens but this was in the beginning right before the movie started. No applause at the end.

Me and my friends clapped for X-Men: Days of Future Past, Cinderella and The Martian. I also heard some clapping for Deadpool. And when I watched Iron Man 2, like a lot of fanboys went nuts, like I'm pretty sure they were big fans, they were a big group and they clapped so hard for the post-credits scene. It really depends on the crowd.

People applauding literally means nothing in regards to WOM.

If you have a free screening, it's choked full of hardcore fans and they don't react (laugh, scream, cheer, etc.)... then you have a problem. Such as the case with Warcraft.

Audience overstuffed with hardcore fans (even dressed up in character and carrying around toy weapons). When it ended, maybe 10 people clapped. The rest, dead silence. That is what you don't want.

Those numbers are perfectly fine. $80-$90M 4 day is exactly where I have it pegged at.

Perfectly fine, but for a series like X-Men with terrible multipliers, an 80m opening means it'll barely reach 200m... :/

I had it pegged at $200M, which is still on the high end of their domestic performances. If it does what I suspect worldwide ($500-$600M), Fox won't be shedding tears. They know this isn't doing to top Days of Future Past.

Mystique's role in the movie and 3 heroic X-Men being Apocalypse Horsemen are just two examples of why this movie is no where near as faithful to the source material. And don't get me started on Apocalypse Gary Stu powers.

All those characters have been depicted as Horsemen before. Not just the comics, though.

Reaching with Psylocke and you know it.

The first horsemen in this film were far more bad ass regardless who was what in some iteration. They did a poor job with Storm, Psylocke and Angel.

For half a friggin issue. Do your homework X fans. This was not Dark Angel Saga haha.

This was throw a hot girl in the movie last minute to get us suckers into the film and make a horrible display of her powers. Caliban had more character. Psylocke was horribly on display as an actual character. Strike two.
