Here's the thing, the franchise only started again in 2011 after a lengthy gap after TLS. If the audience is bored already, something is wrong. A long break should not be needed a mere three movies into the rebirthed franchise.
This is true.
I don't think there is fatigue setting in for CBMs overall, but there is a definite "been there/done that" situation setting in with this franchise. I hate to say it but...this franchise is having a hard time keeping up with its competitors. The way I see it, there are only two ways to totally reinvigorate X-Men to make it a viable player again:
1.) Take a break for a few years, come back with the new X-Men (as foreshadowed in XA) with a new director (Joss Whedon please) and zero influence from Kinberg and Singer.
Or...
2.) Develop a situation similar to Sony's Spider-Man where Marvel plays a bigger role in influencing the X-Universe and vise versa--which would automatically call for a recasting of all characters under the direction of Kevin Feige. Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Wolverine, Rogue, Beast, Gambit, Ice Man--everyone's back. This brings the X-Men into the current day and time frame, not the 90s crap they're talking about doing next. That way FOX still has ownership/distribution rights but the creative process is governed by Marvel which would naturally rally the fanbase and the general audiences.
