seems to be doing much better internationally it has made 186 million internationally already
I dont think the fans not showing up is necessarily the problem. I mean yeah it is a problem but I think the bigger problem is that the GA isn't showing up.
Yes it'll be cool to see things more accurate but first and foremost it's important to have a good movie
They aren't mutually exlusive though. You can make an accurate and good movie at the same time. But I think actually trying to have too much fanservice actually hurt this film
Um...well I wasn't gonna blame it on superhero fatigue so I don't know why bring it up in a quote to me. I don't believe in superhero fatigueI disagree. These films have been in the GA's faces for over 16 years now. There are two different types of fans now: hardcore comic fanboys and casual fans who have attached themselves to the franchise. I've never read a Hunger Games book but I follow the movies. But if FOX suddenly did something with that franchise that didn't appeal to me I wouldn't show up.
This is the case here: FOX is doing something wrong with X-Men and it's not working for the fanboys OR casual fans.
And please don't blame it on "superhero movie fatigue".That's a lame excuse--Captain America: Civil War just made a billion dollars at the box office last week, so...no. This is exclusively a FOX/X-Men franchise issue.
Just give me the cast of this:

Plus Kitty and Bobby and don't set it in the 90s and I'll be content.
I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall at Fox this weekend.

But I don't think Singer is capable of giving us this.
They need to ditch the First Class line, and focus on present day stories, in the OT/Deadpool continuity. The FC reboot failed to connect, DoFP hid that with the original cast showing up, but now we are back at audiences rejecting the new contunuity. Time to focus on X-Force, Deadpool, a new generation of X-Men, whatever, but the gap between FC/Apocalypse and DoFP should send a clear message: people liked the X-Men as they were and don't want them remade.

He's not at all which is why he needs to go or be moved to an executive producer credit. The downside is I think he's too involved with the franchise to let any other director have the creative freedom they'd want or need. Vaughn was chased off this franchise with good reason...
Those are great points.
And Forbes is right: this film did play as a bait-and-switch. For example, they kept playing up the newly cast characters i.e. Storm. But when you got in the actual theater she was a wallflower for 75% of the film. And every single damn one of her power displays were spoiled in the trailers and spots.
Fans don't like that--and FOX does it A LOT.

Blackman said:But I still think youre missing something. You say it's been divided into hardcore comic fanboys and casual fans who have attached themselves to the franchise. The 2nd of those isn't gonna care as much about costume changes, personalities changes, etc. as most us fanboys.
You say you liked THG movies but didn't read the books. So you didn't care about the changes they made to the book.
But people have to show up to know that. That should be affecting next weeks box office not the opening week.
Yes. We've had the Wolverine and Magneto stories.Interesting perspective. Tend to agree.

i think people want deadpool tone and look for x men movies and i'd be fine with that since deadpool was great

Vaughn had alot of creative control but like alot of the directors with this franchise they try and emulate Singers tone.
He only left because fox wouldn't let him do secret service before X-Men.
Oh I know you didn't. But I've seen others mention it here and I'm too lazy to do a multi-quote.
Yes, but even casual fans are hip to things that don't work. For example, FOX has (mistakenly) put all of their hope in this First Class actor circle. They plastered JLaw all over the marketing as the leader of the X-Men. General audiences (mistakenly) already think that Wolveine is the X-Men's leader. So a visual change as simple as that can turn viewers off--and that's without even picking up a comic book. It's all about presentation.
FOX has chosen not to cast any A-listers with this new X-Men line-up. They're cheap (compare that to the blinding star ensembles Marvel is casting for every movie). Such decisions appear to be also driven by a lack of faith in this comic material. They let their previous A-list cast (Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ian McKellan, Patrick Stewart, etc.) go. Clearly these changes are not cutting it for casual fans.
Us fanboys are over it for other reasons.
Deadpools tone is more comedic, basically all the X-Men doing what quicksilver does.
