Like Drew McWeeny, They have different option because Singer, Kinberg, Donner create a good fondation for them. So, they will do what whatever they want because the franchise allow it now .

they brought the original cast back to create intrest in fc sequel no matter what they claim.

fox in last 10 years have shown no intrest at all in doing original cast film.

and do people think they would do it without the 3 biggest stars of original cast-Hugh jackman,patrick stewart,and Ian Mckellen?

Is that not a good enough reason to bring some of them back?

Patrick Stewart is in the next Wolverine movie so Fox is still open to working with the original cast. They even had Famke Janssen in The Wolverine and was thinking of having Anna Paquin as well.

have you seen or heard anything from Donner this year at all.even after all the time she spent trying to get deadpool off the ground.even in 2013 we heard from her on the wolverine.It's been all kinberg on deadpool and Apocalypse.Singer will be likely gone after Apocalypse.and with a few exceptions that is what everyone around here wants.

i think its unfair to slam the films for lack of team dynamic when there hasn't been a real team formed till end of this film

I disagree. These films have been in the GA's faces for over 16 years now. There are two different types of fans now: hardcore comic fanboys and casual fans who have attached themselves to the franchise. I've never read a Hunger Games book but I follow the movies. But if FOX suddenly did something with the Hunger Games movies that didn't appeal to me I wouldn't show up.

That is the case here: FOX is doing something wrong with X-Men and it's not working for the fanboys OR casual fans.

And please don't blame it on "superhero movie fatigue". That's a lame excuse--Captain America: Civil War just made a billion dollars at the box office last week, so...no. This is exclusively a FOX/X-Men franchise issue.

We are not getting a reboot if that's what you are implying. Being more like the MCU has fail written all over it.

This franchise is wrapping up. People want Deadpool and X-Force, and new characters. Take a break with X-Men movies. That's all we need. A long break and a fresh face. This is a talented young cast. You can get another trilogy out of them, absolutely. Just give them a breather. People are tired of the Singer formula. Let Sophie finish up GoT. Let the kid playing Cyke prove himself as an actor in some other roles and grow up a bit. I don't want to see Xavier and the X-Men for another four years.

The original cast clearly boosted DoFP a lot, but they were not in the movie that much.

I think it was more the idea that the original continuity was in effect and not erased that drew audiences back. And they threw all that away by remaking Cyclops, Jean, Storm...

Normally I'd agree with you. But at this point, I think they need some serious star power to anchor this franchise again. I mean, the proof's in the pudding GuestStar: First Class was not a big hit. And XA just opened with a mere $65 million. The only difference between the two was DoFP and I think it's crystal clear now why that film was so successful--the OT actors buoyed the FC cast and drew the audiences back.

While there were people happy to see the OC back, how much of that was the casual audience? i have seen barely anyone mention the OC as being what was missing from this movie and anyone that has... well i seen just as many people say andrew garfield should have been spider-man in civil war... there is a small loud vocal bunch and there are those who really do not care.

What attracted people to DOFP? the crossover event movie gimmick with time travel and robots?

Again i will say this jackman is wolverine, the most popular X-Men character and while the wolverine made abit more then FC but it also had 3D and didn't make all that much more aswell as having famke back as jean in the trailer... the movie made 400 mil WW, now yeah i get it 2 OC members ain't enough you need the full set and then the audience will come... but yeah that logic is a little stretched, esp when compared to deadpool and a brand new colossus.

Here's the thing, the franchise only started again in 2011 after a lengthy gap after TLS. If the audience is bored already, something is wrong. A long break should not be needed a mere three movies into the rebirthed franchise.

that is lost even if they bring back original cast.the versions from original
trilogy are erased.especilly magneto and mystique.Patrick stewart in end of DOFP and wolverine film isn't original Xavier but older version of James Mcavoy's xavier.James Marsden,Famke Janssen,Halle Berry,and Kelsey Grammer wouldn't be playing originl version but older versions of ty sheridan,
Sophie Turner,Alexander Shipp,and Nicholas Hoult versions.

I told people in 2014 that erasing trilogy with time travel wasn't good for fans of original cast and original trilogy.

I can actually get behind that idea Tilapia. A reboot would be fine for me. But the bottom line is...I'm totally over this franchise--and I think the soft $65 million opening shows the GA is too. However, my love for the characters endures. If they take a good SERIOUS break from things and come back with Tye, Sophie, Alexandra grown up--and with an actual plan sans Singer and Kinberg--I'd support that initiative.

But FOX is greedy and they're all about those duckets. Not sure they can let it sit that long.

I feel that fox should take a short break with these main x-men films until around 2020 or 2021 and instead focus on the spinoffs such as Deadpool 2, new mutants, x-force and others.

The thing is Fox have a lot of option now and it is a big difference. With Wolverine 3, Deadpool 2, New Mutant and Gambit, they can make differents things with the franchise before to go with another X Men film.

For exemple, Shipp and Mccavoy in New Mutant could be a good thing to built X-Men universe ( if the movie is still in past). IMO, X-Men film in 2019 is a good date.

Realistically, if we're going for a popular but not overpopulated line-up:

Cyclops, Jean, Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Iceman, Nightcrawler/Colossus, Jubilee/Shadowcat.

Just give us this on the big screen and take all our money.

Nine is still too much. Avengers had six and most had solo movies to develop them first. If you want a box office hit, that's the model.

There is no way in hell FOX will give half of those characters solo films.
