Singer to his credit, did set it up for that. In many ways, this felt like Singer saying good bye to how he set up the films.

Yeah, this I agree with. That final shot of the team was a big step in the right direction and I don't think that was an accident.

Apocalypse still is more dark and serious than MCU films.FF failed was Josh
Trank's interpetian of Ultimate FF till they panicked and tried to change thrid act to make it more action packed.

X-Men In MCU films would defently be more lighter than even Apocalypse.

Who knows what will happen to FF now.

X-force is almost certinly going to be lighter than X-Men films.Deadpool will
insure this.Anytime in MCU Stark shows up it gurantees lightness.CIvil war is more serious than say Iron man 3 and 2 avengers but it is lighter than
Winter Soldier.

You seemed to be rather obsessed with whether a movie is "light" or "dark". How about quality? There are dark superhero movies that are bad (Fant4stic, BVS) and light superhero movies that are great (Ant-Man, GOTG). Dark and quality are not mutually exclusive.

The only way a Fox FF would work now is if you introduce a new line up in Deadpool 2. And as a cameo, not big supporting characters.

:up::up:up:
This should be sticked on every page.

What the hell? Light and dark? Are we talking about chicken meat?

Gotcha, that's about what I figured. Yeah I think we can all agree it's time for a different creative team with a different energy. Even though I wasn't a big fan of Apocalypse, the movie ended with an X-men team that I'd like to see more of in the future (minus Mystique). I just hope James McAvoy returns. I can't say this enough, I think his casting is on the same level as RDJ and Hugh Jackman. My favorite part of this newest trilogy, hands down.

Yeah, that's largely how I feel too. Fassbender is awesome as Magneto, but the character needs a break and should pop up from time to time. It made sense in First Class and may have been justifiable in the trilogy, but a sporadic player makes more sense for the future.

I see promise for Tye Sheridan as Cyclops. Sophie Turner I was less impressed with, but I could see her grow into a compelling Jean Grey.

The creative definitely needs a shake-up.

He is equating tone with quality. Classic fanboy mistake.

What? How does him being gay have to do with Sophie Turner?

This place is making me sad. Accusations are now flying everywhere, accusations which have little to do with the actual movie (like Singer's underaged kids thing).

Also, I guess it makes sense that there are more people coming out of the woodwork to post on these forums in light of the release of the movie, but it's funny how those who have been disappointed with the films have suddenly taken over the board when previously they had little to say. I guess negative passions do make people post more.

People are seriously overreacting. If this film is a 'flop' (and it won't even be a flop, it will just underperform), would the actual apocalypse come? Singer has already said that he will be gone from the directing chair regardless so those who don't like his vision get their wish. The worst case scenario is that we won't get the flagship X-movies for a while, but we have all the other X-universe movies to tide us over (movies, which, in Deadpool and New Mutants' case at least, have passionate fans in the director's chair).

The only thing that would be wasted is the young cast, but I highly doubt Fox will recast them so soon, especially since they have the star power of Sophie Turner, the immense likability of Evan Peters as Quicksilver and audiences have received them warmly.

Im sorry to the Sophie Turner fans but she is just so bland as Jean. After knowing actors like Elle Fanning, lily Collins, and Hailey Steinfield were up for Jean and he went with Turner the plainiest of the bunch. Just typical and im going to leave it at that.

Im happy to say that despite it flaws i actually enjoyed the movie. It was the most funiest of the all the movies and just felt closer to the comics. After 6 films maybe they are starting to get it. Its a shame the best of movies in my opinion is underperforming.

:applaud

I hate the whole "everything has to be dark" mentality among fans. Levity is not a bad thing. We aren't dealing with adaptations of Hamlet here (and even Hamlet had comic relief). I feel like the fans who are obsessed with everything being dark are just looking for validation. "See how dark and gritty it is!?! I told you comic books aren't for kids!"

Can't the same be said about light movies? Just because it's not filled with jokes doesn't mean it's going to be a hit.

I'm not convinced that Homecoming will do significantly more than the ASM movies. The baselines for TV shows is different, especially since the Netflix are definitely at odds with the films, in terms of tone. As for critical reception, Fox had been doing fine. Singer's track record is quite good.

It won't, but the #1 goal is to make a great Spidey film, which those pathetic ASM excuses are not. If Homecoming can build off the epic potential of the character that Civil War displayed, then future installments will most certainly build on the box office.

Marvelrobbins just lowers the IQ level of this entire site. His posts are all the same rambling ignorant BS.

I think the potential is there for it to be better. But would a new look, cast, etc. really help the box office? First Class had a "new" almost everything and it still wasn't that successful

I think a potential modern X-Men reboot could work well, but you kind of have to consider the range of possibilities. As you say, Fox could bring in an independent director. Things would not necessarily go as badly as Fantastic Four. There could potentially be a lot of corporate play, and what the movies seem to need is freshness.

I agree, light and quality aren't mutually exclusive either. But nowadays some fans seemed to think a superhero movie has to be dark and gritty in order to be good, which is a fallacy.

I'm not a huge Turner fan but either last week's or last night's Game of Thrones she was pretty good [BLACKOUT]during the table scene where they discuss rescuing her brother and also when confronting that finger guy.[/BLACKOUT] She's usually so passive on that show so it was different seeing her be aggressive. She was too passive in X:A for me.

I don't know what's the best box office play besides Deadpool 2 at this point. It's too soon to recast Wolverine. Tatum is getting older and is no longer that pretty boy, plus he'd be a lot older than the rest of these X-Men.

Sad to say, I don't think these kids can support a film by themselves. They weren't terrible or anything, but it just won't have the same magic that the original actors were able to produce with the onscreen chemistry they had and what not.

The more I think about it, Gambit as your lead character in a film, with the X-Men in support, makes a lot of sense. Think X-Men (2000) with Jackman. Maybe hook him up with a younger character like Jubilee escaping the mansion and running into Remy Lebeau. Maybe it will even be called X-Men Origins: Gambit.

Without the McAvoy/Fassbender dynamic, I don't see the point focusing on McAvoy and the team by themselves. Plus I don't think McAvoy will want to shave his head every couple of years unless he's due for a serious pay raise.

So I'll back track and say and Gambit spinoff may not necessarily be a bad thing in order to keep the budget under control.

At this point we can only really assume the plan is still on to continue with the new cast

Chris Aronson, distribution head for Fox, called it not a reboot but "a readjustment" to pave the way for future installments featuring the new performers.

"I'm very pleased," Aronson said. "It's right on track with what our expectations were going in."

Nobody claimed or implied lightness is the way of the land and darkness implies gloom unlike Marvelrobbins rambling dark fetish.

LOL.....How many times do we here these studio execs say they are pleased with results and then heads roll and changes are made.

Exactly. Take what execs say the weekend/month of release with a grain of salt.

In the same article Disney sure were not shying away from their disappointment in alice 2 ;p

In short terms disney said Well that sucks but s*** happens i guess ;p

Depp isn't Depp anymore, no Burton. Writing was on the wall with that one. Doesn't bode well for PoTC 5.

Because they will rake in more money this year with Star Wars and Alice will be a blip in the radar.

Meanwhile, WB execs claim they are happy with BvS gross while the whole company is being restructured behind the walls.

Yeah but WB are not gonna cancel justice league because of BVS, they won't recast the main players because they know what they have and they know they can fix it, they know it would have made more if it had been a better movie.
