I am quite suprised to see how many people are utterly resistant to see the degree of depth, social commentary and beauty the X-Men movies gave us in a mainstream sci-fi movie production.
We X-Men fans are totally spoiled that we got a beautiful franchise like this in the last 16 years that can even be enjoyed by academics and is critically acclaimed!
Unfortunately, all of this work collapsed with 'X-Men: Apocalypse' and Singer gave in to whiny fanboy talk on the internet and stopped to listen to his own guts and aesthetic.
We went from great sci-fi movies to dull comic-book-nonsense (best summed up by Psylocke's sexist bikini outfit and it's general disregard for silent women of color)...'X-Men: Apocalypse' was truely a franchise killer!
Let's see what comes after Singer but I doubt that any director will give us a similar degree of sophisticastion! Fox obviously doesn't understand what made their franchise successful in the first place.
