Here we go again ...
Yeah, but I can't take it seriously.
Here we go again ...
lol he does NOT lack imagination. he only lacks the things you are particularly looking for in a blockbuster summer movie.
Let's not pretend that the Avenger's movies have done anything creative or imaginative. They are medicore Disney movies at best which make money. That's the only thing which gives these movies any relevancy besides the fact that the produced a shared universe. but most of these Disney movies suffer because of this 'shared universe idea'.
"Civil War" is clearly not better than "Days of Future Past"!
cinema studios surely don't copy them for their creativity! lol that's hilarious! they are copying them because they are dull shallow mainstream ******** and sell tickets!I enjoyed Civil War a lot. But please let's not pretend this movie did anything special what Singer hasn't done before. It was a totally fine action movie for a shallow mass audience. Nothing more!
Marvel formular: cocky white males save the world (+ Black Panther for a change)
Singer's action scenes on the other hand are timeless! Nightcrawler's White House scene and Quicksilver's Kitchen Scene **** by far on everything Disney has done with the Avengers!
I would even argue that the Russo Brothers shifted the overall tone of the Marvel movies again back to quite a realistic direction similar to what Singer did with the X-Men.
I haven't seen and updated total for the UK, but I'm going to guess around $21 mil.
And clearly, whatever the next X-men film will be, they will try to schedule it away from Warcraft in China. Such a pity it's run could be cut short because of that.
Nicely put, but all pretty much your opinion, which you are obviously entitled to have.
Nightcralwer's scene was cool, true. Quicksilver's was not any type of Singer original. Over the Hedge did the exact same concept 9 years previous.
That said and again you opinion that the are better than anything on Avengers, and again you are entitled to it.
You want to call it mindless, where to me telling the same story several times is pretty mindless (Apocalypse) then that's your right.
I didn't hate Apocalypse, and I will by the Bluray, but in my personal opinion, they made nothing new to see there. I don't think it quite deserves the trashing it's getting from the critics and that somewhat surprises me, but at the same time I know this is not the case that this movie is so excellent and advanced that people are just not "getting it", cause they got it, a decade ago and several times after that in previous X-Men movies.
You can go get a bunch of friends on here who may agree with you, and I could get a bunch as well, which is a waste of time.
It's cool if you don't like Avengers, its totally your right, but if you want to believe it made no impact and people are not looking into it to emulate it, you are fooling yourself.
Now the subject is the Box Office.
Anyone able to see how well its doing in the UK?

Thanks! How about Australia?
Exactly, XA had big opening and good WOM, it should have made between 150-180 million in China. Very bad move by Fox.
I'm hoping for at least a 600 million worldwide for this film. I didn't think it would do so well in China now imagine if they had Blink back or actually gave Jubilee a substantially more screentime. This movie did some things right but dropped the ball horribly with others. What is the total WW Box office by the way?
I just read somewhere that it actually didn't do that bad in China this past weekend.
Lana is Vietnamese, not Chinese.
But I firmly believe that GA loves the OT, or at the very least they are really put off by not being able to make heads or tails of continuity (specially with Mystique)
I dunno. I mean, X1 is nearly 20 years old. The people who were young when it came out, would be nostalgic for it, etc are, by and large, aged out of that coveted 16-30 demographic. A new generation makes up the prime movie going audience and I think First Class is their new norm.
Lana is Vietnamese, not Chinese. A bit of an important distinction in that area of the world (especially between Japanese and Chinese, who hate each other).
Without a big Chinese star, Apocalypse was looking to have a great increase compared to DOFP. It looks like the first Mon could be only slightly behind CW's first Mon. If Warcraft doesn't cause a BvS type collapse, it will definitely make over $100 mil. If it had a run like DOFP's we would've been looking at over $150 mil. But we will see. It is sounding like Apocalypse is getting good WOM and could remain strong even with losing half it's screens Wed.
OFP basically retconned X3, and it got an A Cinema Score, and legs similar to or slightly better than X2/X3. In fairness, those movies do better when considering ticket price, but theatrical attendance has also declined and moviegoers have more options. WOM was similar to or stronger than X2 and X3 in the original trilogy, even though the movie outright changed it."However, 2016 has proven to be a very tough battleground, and the landscape has been littered with a series of sequels that have come up short, and thus call into question the entire notion of the inherent appeal of non-original, franchise-based content."
I think the original cast probably has a bigger fanbase and may be better liked among the general audience. I think the general audience likes the OT, but I don't know about love. The Cinema Score and legs don't clearly point in that direction. It is not clear may reflect Logan. And I don't know how invested casual fans and the general audience are in maintaining the original trilogy. XMOFP basically retconned X3, and it got an A Cinema Score, and legs similar to or slightly better than X2/X3. Mediocre/bad/unwanted sequels are underperforming/dissappointing this year. Turtles, Alice, X-Men, Huntsman, BvS, Allegiant.
This year moviegoers have put their money where their mouth is. I can only hope this brings the creative shakeup the franchise needs.

Honestly, I don’t think the FC trilogy cast, good as they were, ever caught on with audiences the way the original cast did. When I went to the early screening for DOFP, the biggest cheer happened when Cyclops showed up at the end. Same with the end credit scene after The Wolverine. And the biggest complaint I heard about DOFP was that the original cast wasn’t in it enough.
Report from yesterday:Alice is still doing bad after its debut?
Finishing fourth was last weekend's other new "big" release, that being Disney's Alice Through the Looking Glass, which already suffered a disastrous opening weekend and didn't fair much better this weekend, dropping 60% for an estimated $10.69 million. The film did add an additional $42 million internationally this weekend, resulting in a global cume of just over $176 million. From a domestic perspective, it's beginning to look as if the sequel may have a hard time matching the $85 million 2010's Alice in Wonderland made in its first two days.
