Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - Part 1

Hopefully the relationship w/his twins Pietro/Wanda will be explored seeing his "father-less" ties to his children has not been explored yet and i like that'll be an interesting plot to see how he's the militant type of dad. I also think him being 2nd best to Apocalypse will make for a good storyline.

I think in general parenthood should be another theme is in this movie. We'll finally get to see Xavier become Stewart's Xavier and his relationships w/Scott, Jean and Ororo, if Nightcrawler is included showing the "motherly" side of Mystique would add more depth to her character + Mags and his children. We would have literally 3 diff parental approaches.

Once you start using internet forums in your "article", you have lost all validity.

It's rather common sense. Marvel is pushing the Marvel Studios brand. But, I haven't seen any sort of reigning in the X-writers. And I have lol at Uncanny Avengers "becoming an Avengers story". Someone hasn't been reading it.

I think hyping up Apocalypse and the Horsemen would be as big or bigger than Sentinels + Tine-Trvel

Hmmm maybe. But the all star reunion factor is not there anymore. Us fans, will see Apocalypse and the Horsemen as the must-see new things for the film but the general viewers? I don't know.

As sad as it could sound, the all star wasnt a big factor for Usa after all, seeing how Dofp had similar numbers to other comic movies, and even less than Cap, Transformers, Maleficent, and more than likely Guardians too.

We as fans love having a huge and talented cast, but as history has showed, the cast of a movie is not enough to have a huge boxoffice, and most of the times, movies with a small cast or without many stars are the ones doing the most money.

Hard to say. The cast could very well be the reason we're comparing the box office performance of Days of Future Past to the likes of The Winter Soldier or Transformers instead of the likes of The Wolverine or First Class. It will be interesting to see how Apocalypse holds up without them.

Oh yeah, cos DOFP absolutely bombed... Give me a break

Don't start that Comic book studio wars bull crap here.

It's nothing more than pure dreck started by angry fans.

I understand your feelings on studio wars but having MS film ratings as your signature would suggest you prefer Marvel studio films to other comic book
films

I didn't receive the memo to the contrary, so I believe it is still perfectly acceptable to prefer MCU films over FOX's X Men series. Or vice-versa. Or prefer the WB slate to both.

That is 100% false. Do not make any generalizations. My all time favorite superhero film series is the Christopher Nolan Batman films. The Dark Knight is better than the three Marvel films I have rated in my sig very highly (it's 9.5 out of 10 for me). The Dark Knight Rises I got a 8/10 and Batman Begins a 9/10

So don't make any generalizations.

:o

That Is fine but some would think that by your signutre you prefer Marve studios films.

When DC gets their universe up and running, I will give them similar ratings.

When Fox does more of their universe, I will do the same.

Again, stop making generalizations! You want me to change my sig so you won't get angry!

Fine, I'll change it.

:cmad:

Hey, marvelrobbins,

I put my MCU ratings in spoiler tags, so you don't have to look at the ratings if you don't want to!

Happy now!

I was only making a comment since you mentioned studio wars. Why make change because one person mentions that one time when issue of studio wars come up.

I am a not comic-book guy, which is why I say that stuff. I have never read any Marvel or DC comics. In fact, before this craze I only knew the X-Men from the 90's cartoon, Batman from the Adam West series and the early 90's movies and Superman from the Christopher Reeve movies and the Hulk from the TV series starring Bill Bixby and the Blade films.

Whenever a new character is introduced, I always look it up online. As a non-CB fan I am annoyed by the studio wars. I honestly don't care and I don't think non-CB fans who like the movies care either about the studio wars. This way I come into every CBM with an open mind. I don't get enraged at the race change of characters or that their backgrounds deviate majorly from the comics.

If you have ever read any of my other threads outside the X-Men forum, you would have known that I am a non-CB person. I've stated that over and over again.

Well, unless one counts Archie or Peanuts or Garfield as comics.

As a CB Fan I take the same stance with you word for word hear, letter for letter.
Movies take creative liberties with books, historic and biographic films so why can't they do it with comics? Irregardless, like I said I'm with you. All of this studio war, canon faithful, DC vs Marvel etc... all of it is nonsense and annoying. Fills up the forums online with junk and unneeded hatred. Enjoy the films! I will. This has been an excellent year for CBM critically and financially. Its awesome to see GOTG, DOFP, and CA:WS do so well. It's only generating more films and universes.

I don't think we get DOFP the way we did without the success of Avengers. I don't think Apocalypse gets pushed the way it has without the success of the MCU. I also don't believe if Marvel had X-men and Spidey rights that we'd get a GOTG this soon, if ever.

I'm a fan of how the way things played out for the most part. Would I like a better Cyclops? yeah. Had I wished X-3 hadn't happened how it did? Sure but Iron Mand 2 and 3 weren't that great either so there you have it. win some lose some but this is definitely a golden age for comic book movies. Enjoy it!

I somewhat understand not making movie merchandise, but they own the comic characters 100% in all other medias, yet there is a distinct lack of cartoons, lack of video games (no x-Men in infinity even) less comic merchandise and less X-Men featured in promotion of the MU as a whole. That is BS.

X-Men have been their premier team team since the seventies, it's disrespectful to the fans, the customers who kept them afloat in the nineties and the property itself to attempt to push them out just because they don't control them in one out of five medias, imo

Glad he likes playing the character and the more indie movies it affords him. Hope he signs up for future appearances, even if they aren't main I'd hate to see Mags return under a different actors instead of Fass.

It's going to be hard to convince Disney/Marvel that they need to put more emphasis on the X-Men characters after they've successfully introduced a second team into the MCU. And they have another one on deck in the Netflix Defenders. For better or for worse, live action media is driving the bus for almost every initiative at Marvel.

I'm old enough to remember when the X-Men were in reprints and the only chance a comic book fan had to catch up with Xavier's first class was through their guest appearances in Hulk and Cap comic books. And the Legion of Superheroes was the premier super team at the Distinguised Competition. Things change.

Marvel is still going to be putting out X-Men comics books and some limited merchandise. Hopefully Marvel and FOX - equally at fault in this issue - will reach an agreement that will benefit both companies.

Honestly, if it ever came to it I'd gladly say good-bye to the Fantastic Four and all of their rights in exchange for the merchandising and animated/live television rights to the X-Men.

I think that'd be a far better investment. Hopefully both studios can work something out in the future.

While Marvel and Disney have a bad relationship, the relationship between Fox and Disney isn't all that bad, at least not when it comes to TV and Touchstone Pictures. Both studios distributed Stephen Spielberg's last film Lincoln with Disney (through Touchstone/Dreamworks) distributed in the United States while Fox distributed internationally.
