Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - Part 2

Aside from Jackman she's the biggest star in the franchise right now. Fassbender maybe but the kiddies don't know him.

X-Men was centered around Rogue
X2 was kinda centered around Wolverine
X3 was centered around Jean Grey
X-Men First Class centered around Magneto.
X-Men Days of Future Past centered around Xavier

It's the trend for this franchise to center around the history and development of one key character while also telling a story linked to that.

X-Men Apocalypse May center around mystique as this trilogy has been about those three characters.

However them exploring Mystique and Beast relationship doesn't mean the movie will be only about that, people may just be blowing this out of proportion.

X-Men and X3 were definitely centered, developing and following Wolverine as much as Rogue and Jean. Jean doesn't even really speak much in X3 and gets sidetracked by the cure subplot. X2 was kinda centered on Wolverine? Don't know about that one either. He gets a backstory as well as being the main X member we follow around and watch save everyone/fight. Your playing down his role quite a bit. Compared to the rest of the crew he definitely got the development limelight in all three films. Just the way it is.

I agree with the Beast and Mystique stuff. I highly doubt it will take the focus. Should be no surprise Mystique, Prof X and Magneto will have big roles in Apocalypse with Beast in supporting. They have been in the past two films with those actors. The new films have clearly been very focused on those characters and they have the closest relationships to be continued.

I wouldn't say X2 was "kinda" centred around wolverine it pretty much was, and as for X1 and X3 both were about rogue and Jean but the main lead out of them all was wolverine

Well it was a little about his backstory with Weapon X but mostly about Stryker in the here and now. That's how I see it anyway

Wolverine is still written as the focal character for the audience. Stryker in X2 and Jean in X3 are the villains who create the conflict. There's really not much to Jean in X3, except she's powerful and kills people. She's more used as a set piece and side kick to Mags halfway through.

There was awful lot going on In X2.Maybe that why It remains my favorate X film.

X-Men was about introducing GA to world of X-Men as well as about Wolverine and Rogue. The Last Stand Is a mess but it's clearly about Wolverine more than anything else.FC Is about Magneto while DOFP was about Xavier.

I doudt In Apocalypse all other characters will play second fiddle to Mystique.Especilly with Xavier being Bryan Singer's favorate Character.

We are probally I suspect looking at film focused primarly on Xavier,Magneto, and Mystique with some focus lesser on Beast,Apocalypse, and Wolverine.

DOFP proved they can use wolverine and not have him as sole focus of film.

Simon Kinberg teases some massive future plans for the X-Men franchise:
"They do all feed into one another in the sense of wanting to tell this sort of massive story that can take place over multiple movies."
He also mentions potential sequels in the future and the idea of movies taking place in different time periods:
"We are aware as we are plotting out Apocalypse and the other X-Men movies – both potential sequels in the future and standalone movies – and trying to build them all together so that there is a singularity of vision. And obviously a timeline that makes sense as well, because these movies all, well not all, but many of them take place in different time periods, so that all those things will link up and make sense for an audience."

And what do you know they are all from my time of reading the comics.

I'd hope so, those moments range from the 60s to the later 00s.

Surprised Xorn being Magneto is #25.

I think many assuminations about what could be In future of franchise need to be thrown out.

It seems like the plans are for X-Men sequels and spin-off films.

The idea of X films In different time periods rasises Intresting possibiltys

Deadpool-Actully when it takes place Is a question mark now.It could be In past If deadpool Is In Apocalypse if not it could be In more present day

Wolverine-who knows when this film would take place. It could be set after Apocalypse, some point between 1983 and 2023,or at some point after the ending In future of DOFP

Gambit-If this Is the mystery 2018 film when it takes place will depend on if Gambit will appear In Apocalypse

X-force-If this film happens It could be set In more present or after the future ending of DOFP

X-Men sequel-the quote of different time peroids opens up possibilty of sequel with Original Cast

X-Men/FF-Kinberg made another comment published today opening up this possabilty, and the comments of taking place In different time peroids opens this up since FF Is suspose to take place In Present day.

I would prefer next Wolverine movie set in 1989 with Omega Red as villain, but they talked about Old Man Logan.

I really hope they don't do old man logan.what's the point of it? After DOFP
you don't need another post apocalypic film.Apocalypse will be based on part on Age of Apocalypse.Plus old man logan doesn't have much they can do since
it involves a lot of avengers characters.Personally after doing origin and japanese saga I don't see the need for another solo film.

It's a shame they can't really go back and do a WWII movie in Madripoor or something

I was heart broken when they offed Banshee. One of my favorites. Hopefully they bring him back as a horseman fa sum

Sad they took out Emma too.

Did I miss anything? Since when they talked about adapting Old Man Logan.

And Yes to Omega Red as the villain!

I recently visited my local walmart and saw loads of superhero shirts. There was Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Avengers, Ironman, Captain America.. but no X-Men shirts. I turned to Amazon, hoping to find something, and, though I did, X-Men were still greatly outnumbered and represented by a lower quality product, based on design and reviews. I also recently received a Halloween costume catalog by mail and saw the same thing. There was one X-Man (Wolverine) costume and every Avenger, plus Batman, Superman and their female counterparts. The thing is, I would very much like a couple of X-Men shirts to wear, as I have none.

But I also realized:

No merch = no public exposure = less people remembering they like X-Men and less fans purchasing something for which there is an obvious demand. I know I may be beating the dead horse here but Fox/Marvel should really push to get some good X-merch out.

Wolverine and Deadpool are the only X-Men related characters to get merch at Walmart clothing wise at my stores. Same with Walmart online.

Hot Topic or superhero/comic stores online are usually the best place. There's a decent amount of shirts here http://www.superherostuff.com/characters/x-men/x_men_merchandise.html

For the more obscure character ones you have to go to cons or grab fan made ones.

Sorry.

DOFP was more about Xavier,Magneto, and to some degree Mystique than Wolverine.

Contuning the X-Men films besides FC always focus all the attention on Wolverine doesn't hold water anymore after DOFP.

wolverine was in DOFP from head to tail, but once he got to the past he just kinda fitted in rather then took over the story, it was more an excuse to have him be part of it and in the end he was taken out of it by magneto
