I heard this trailer is really suppose to reveal the full scope of the film that the last trailers didn't, so it'll be interesting to see what they've put together this time around.

I agree and I'm excited to see what they are bringing to the table with this trailer. Hopefully the first part has dialogue from other characters then the big finish is the battle against Apocalypse.

I see that point and agree to an extent. I think series with strong continuity--I would also add Indiana Jones, Nolan's Batman movies, and Back to the Future off the top of my head--have a richer texture because of it. Then again, most of those have only several installments.

While I am not one of the great lovers of the MCU around here, I respect that they have lasted 11 films without any major gaff.

Be that as it may, the real problems here (other than a few dropped lines in X1) are a prologue in the despised X3 and the plot of the universally loathed and ignored Origins movie. The choice to ignore them led to First Class and Days of Future Past, and Deadpool being much better movies as a result. When people devalue that we have three great movies simply because they contradict two bad ones, I just shrug.

No one ever gets this bent out of shape over the Mission Impossible and James Bond films who have a more loosesly based form of continuity than X-Men ever will or have had. It seems more like whining that everything isn't like Marvel to me.

Ok that Dr. Strange trailer was meh...

Wow... and people were complaining about X-Men having generic trailer music...

Also why does eveything look like an offshoot of The Matrix/Inception building/cityscale turning (FC stopped from having similar visuals for just this reason)? Not to mention Cumberbatch looks nothing like his character other than a comic accurate costume...:csad:

That's always going to be a question. Thor just lost Natalie Portman and perhaps even Jaimie Alexander because they have a new female love interest. These actors are never going to stay open indefinitely even if they know exactly when a film is coming. It is always a chance you take even with much planning when you have casts this large.

X-Men have been doing it longer than any other franchise in history [17yrs] so they've got to be doing something right.

this is where that announcement is read into a bit much...

1) Natalie Portman was likely never going to be in Thor 3 due to the fact Earth really isn't likely to be featured in it. That was apparent the moment they announced it was a "world hopping buddy adventure with hulk" that never left real room for her, especially since she likely wouldn't be on Asgard again.. and would quite honestly hold the story back.. if people needed to protect an earth woman the whole time while Asgard is crumbling in Ragnarok.

2) "love interest" is incredibly vague.. I mean.. Sif technically counts as a love interest even though she wasn't a "main" love interest... Black widow and Christine Everheart can be considered love interests... I have a feeling Marvel will just ignore jane completely.. and might have a female like Amora be flirting or seducing Thor.. but wont actually be his lover interest.

I'm a big fan of Benedict and he will bring such a wonderful take on the character but yeah the trailer could've been better. But it's just a teaser and for something that only just pretty much finished filming it's looking great.

What does everyone want from the the new trailer?

We kinda got one already but I just want to see a quick, but undeniable power display from Jean.

And the unedited Poccy voice. Don't know why they messed with that.

The innocent need not feel guilty. If I wanted to call anyone in particular a troll, I would have.

If you feel like you're doing wrong, simply correct your behavior.

...(unnecessary ellipses)

the point was... there was no one trolling, so no need to throw out "trolling"

That's like saying because Earth was featured in AOU she had to be featured and we all know how that turned out. Even if you have actors under contract there is no guarantee on availability.

Black Widow is most decidedly not a love interest for Thor... and again why isn't it Sif? They really might not have access to Jaime due to her obligation to her show. Same thing happened with Josh Dallas as Fandral. Actors availability will change depending on how in demand they are.

I'm just saying I doubt the love interest is what people instantly assume one is. But no, she was likely never in the film to begin with
. I mean, for her to be I the film they do have to show her on earth.. because there's no reason for her to be in asgard during ragnorok. I don't think her sitting out a film suddenly means she's never coming back and a love interest doesn't mean someone's making out and boinking..

Amora the enchantress for instance fits in very well with the concept of a love interest even though she does it via magical seduction.

People read into casting info way too deeply sometimes

I'm pretty sure I read that Natalie has a 3 picture deal with Marvel and she's done 2 so maybe they're saving her next one for one of the infinity wars movie. Makes more sense that way. Also Jamie is coming back isn't she? I thought she has been confirmed. They'll be filming during the show hiatus so I'm sure they've worked out scheduling.

Just because she has a 3 picture deal doesn't mean they actually have to use her for three films.

Well duh. I'm just stating they might not want to use her for this and instead in one of the other movies.

That was indeed a very vague and underwhelming trailer for Doctor Strange. However, First Class also had underwhelming trailers and this is only their first try, so we shall see.

Wonder if they'll include more shots from ancient Egypt detailing Apocalypse backstory. Singer did hint the film begins with a huge battle in Egypt.

I'm too anxious and impatient. Want something now!!!!

This is fair. I think because comic books are so drenched in continuity, though often with far more errors and logic gaps than these films, fans expect some semblance of that. And I do think it textures a long running series like Star Wars quite well. Yet even there, there are continuity gaps that nobody cares about when The Force Awakens is entertaining.

So yep, I think people latch onto this because it is a noticeable issue with this particular franchise while Marvel Studios does not have it, so they keep beating the drum. I just wish they were as demanding of Marvel to come up with a villain half as good as Magneto or a third act as exhilarating as Days of Future Past, but here we are.

Ok that Dr. Strange trailer was meh...

It wasn't too bad for a teaser. Showed a little of the trippy stuff so I'm interested to see what they do with that film. I was surprised they had gotten that far into the effects. Didn't they just wrap principle photography?

I find teasers usually underwhelming. I just hope strange has a bit more color. That's something I always loved about his books. Very colorful visuals

Oh God...Spider-man Homecoming? Really???

Not a good night for Marvel :S (with the probable exception of Cap 3 being a great film).

I'm really not hating. Though X-men is my first love, I also like my Marvel films.

For anyone following. I did not see Apocalypse tonight. :csad:
Aww, that's a bummer! Definitely hoped you could've given us a thumbs up or thumbs down or something to quell our concerns, but maybe there will be another screening? Either way, that's a bummer. Hope that the movie you watched was at least entertaining.

Heavily embargoed.... But it was the obvious alternative.
