i dunno whether you could have 2 stories Centered around the phoenix without more gimmick to it, i mean it would have to be believed that there is enough cool material for 2 parts to grip people for the first and excite for part 2, and not just for the comic fans.

Its easy to say any 1 movie should been 2 parts, BVS, X-Men Apocalypse ect ect but there is a reason why studios ain't making every movie 2 parters.

Marvel and DC will be doing two part films soon, so I can see Fox wanting to do the same.

It is all about how they tell the story and how the first part ends, and sets up the audience for the second. Plus, both movies have to come out a year apart.

Why not? Splitting up movies into two parts has been a trend in recent years. The upcoming Avengers is doing that with Infinity War. With that said, it needs more build up and they cant do something like that in the next film. At least they shouldnt. Part of the reason why X3 failed was bc they rushed it. Id have the next film center around Sinister with he taking an interest in her and alluding to how she is meant for great power. Then come in to the 3rd and 4th film for a Rise and Fall of Phoenix so to speak, if they must do it

If they were to take you approach, the second would be X-Men: Dark Phoenix; for the first, find another title that would depend on what sort of story they were doing (if it was a space adventure, Intergalactic or something like that).

The first one isn't really centered around the Phoenix, though. It's a space adventure where the villain would be D'Ken.

I'm still uncertain whether the franchise would get into all the space stuff, but I guess we'll see.

Also, by going into space, they'll get away from the 80s feel. They can make it more futuristic.

I don't think there's any particular reason to get away from the 1980s feel.

I would lose my actual mind if the next X-men movie is a Phoenix story.

They could tell a Phoenix story without Jean dying. I know the Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the best X-stories, partly because of that ending, but they could do something different with it. I've dreamed of seeing the fire raptor on the big screen since I was a kid watching TAS.

Yeah but marvel will have the gimmick of bringing all these dozen heroes together, like guardians of the galaxy may cross over with the avengers for example

Still you would need a gimmick to keep things interested, as i said its why studios don't just make every story a 2 parter, they need to be sure both parts will sell

Thats not to say they couldn't do it but to say part 2 has the reintroduced hellfire club... that may be comic related but is that a gimmical selling point worth making a part 2 for?

Say if X-FORCE appeared in part 2 that would be a cool gimmick to say part 1 we are doing this and part 2 we are bringing this in for this big 2 part event.

There's no reason The Last Stand couldn't have done the story in a single film, having gotten her to the point of becoming Phoenix.

they could have but the fact is they also had the cure storyline in there. Both stories were rushed bc of competing screentime and it ended up a mess. Jean did not get the proper focus she needed in the film to make it work

Space screams 80s. Alot of the space genre is inherently tied to that decade and I dont think thats a bad thing

I definitely think it should be done in two parts. I mean it was in the comics with Phoenix Saga then Dark Phoenix Saga. While I'm not sure I want it to happen immediately after Apocalypse, Jean has been and always will be my favorite comic book character so I'm all on board for a reboot of the story haha

Apparently some here in the UK have already seen the quicksilver ad on tv, thats pretty early marketing right there

Just saw the Sky Broadband ad on Tv. Such an awesome ad

There was also another short one with a narrator saying Sky Broadband is faster than Quicksilver and had him zipping about

In terms of codenames, Magneto and Pyro's scene in X2 was really nice I think.

Stuff like that would be cool I think.

That was a cool hero/villain name scene

X-men is a weird one because it always gets negative press from 'fans' before hand and then everyone loves the film but then the negativity starts again.

I hope people finally like it and change their basic thoughts

People learned nothing from the Quicksilver magazine shot for X-Men Days of Future Past and applied the same freak out to the first pic of Apocalypse. And again it turned out to be an overreaction

In a perfect world if you wanted to make Phoenix saga an event movie worth being a 2 parter you would possibly want some sorta gimmick, maybe if they have new mutants and X-Force out by then you'll could cross all them over for it, probably would need a it more a threat for it

Actually, it can easily be adapted into two parts.

Part One: Focus on the M'Kraan Crystal, the Shi'Ar Empire, and Jean discovering and trying to control Phoenix entity inside her.

Part Two: Phoenix going dark, reintroduce the Hellfire Club, the Shi'Ar teaming up with the X-Men to save Jean from the Phoenix.

I agree with this, although perhaps they should ditch the Hellfire Club and just focus on Jason Wyngarde/Mastermind.

She is still inexperienced with her powers and there is a ton of force coming out of his head. Maybe its easier to use her TK in conjunction with physical touch to get a proper handle on him. I imagine she uses her hands to direct his head and her TK helps her keep it steady
