I enjoyed them all too but there are things I would have improved on BvS and X-M:A.
Agreed honestly I've enjoyed every comic book movie we've got this year. There are flaws in all four so far to be honest. But they're all super enjoyable with some interesting characters and great visuals. I think there's just too much opinions out there now and too many opinions swayed by critics and what other people think. CW and DP are the two standouts while Apoc falls a bit and BvS is the least good out of the bunch but none of them are horrible movies. None can compare to some of the bad movies we've seen before.

OMG! I'm obsessed with all these snapchat filters! I said a long time ago they should do this for marketing omg love it.

I get the mixed reactions but the outright negative responses genuinely baffle me, and two good pals of mine, whose taste I respect and trust, despised it. Diff'rent strokes, I suppose. There are some major issues, for sure, especially to do with the editing choices/tonal shifts and certain characters/dynamics that have been both done to death and unnecessary for the story at hand.

No, it's not X2 or First Class, and it was never going to be. Hard pressed to see those two unseated from the top of the mountain. But it is another solid installment courtesy of Bryan Singer. Initially I was back-and-forthing between Days of Future Past and this as his second-finest entry but the former wins out upon reflection. That said, I will harp on this once again. As a longtime fan of his, I really hope he moves on. Said just about everything he can with the property now. I'd rather he dictate his time to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or stuff like his King Arthur film, the Battlestar Galactica redo, another thriller, etc.

Throwing Wolverine into the mix was the kind of BS fan-service Singer actively avoided during his run on the originating two films. Stupid, pointless and an extra 5 minutes to the running length that could (and let's be frank, should) have been used elsewhere. It goes back to the problem of having him cameo in First Class... but that's another topic for another day.

And the big Quicksilver showcase is an odd-duck. On the one hand, an absolute blast (the audience lit up when it happened, just as his scene in Days of Future Past two years back) and yet... baffling (It comes right on the dramatic moment of the mansion blowing up, Charles being apprehended by Apocalypse and Alex's death). But... I did laugh. Still a strange transition that I'm not sure completely worked.

Ditto the sequence of all the world's nukes being launched. Genuinely chilling, and I'm sure a callback to The Day After. Then Stan Lee shows up as one of the people looking on in horror... and the moment is ruined. You go from "Oh my God..." to "IT'S STAN THE MAN!" in seconds.

As for the title character (the film's villain), not to mention, the year's worth of bad online press. What? Fandom overreacting and Singer proving them wrong for the umpteen time? Unheard of. When Oscar Isaac isn't giving loud monologues (I kept thinking of Mystery Science Theater 3000 the Movie - "ACTING!"), he's a menacing antagonist.

No one else among the newbies stands out in a good or bad way (No, even the oft-despised Munn). They're fine but could I see a whole film about them without the First Class cast? Ehhhh. But this was Michael Fassbender's movie, and the moment Erick stands up to Apocalypse at the end is the definition of a "Get up and cheer!" moment. Ever since First Class, you (read: me) have been waiting for the moment when the guy can finally heal and kiss & make up with Xavier. Thank God.

I think this is really a 'you gotta see it for yourself' film. The consensus among my friends is that it's not as good as DOFP, but it is as entertaining, if not more than Civil War. That said these people were never invested in comic book movies in the first place, and stuff like JLaw and the focus on Xavier and Magneto never bothered them, so...

Goes to show that beyond our fan boy complaints or critics, there is still a significant population who is far from being bored by X-Men. One even said Mystique was her favorite character.

Snapchat has gone all X-men apocalypse apparently with cyclops, nightcrawler, mystique and storm filters

Although I don't have them so I ain't sure everyone will have it

I also have Magneto, Apocalypse, Quicksilver, Beast and Professor X. ALL filters have been replaced in favor of these. Crazy

I liked the film but can totally see it having mixed responses and and extreme views. You mention a couple of what I see as outright mistakes in tonal shifts that are the kind of things that can by themselves push someone who is 50/50 on the film to the negative side. I'm more interested in these new guys than I expected though and will look forward to any sequels (have been a reboot guy for a long time).

Now that I've seen it I really HATE that Lawrence was Lawrence basically

so
Striker catches them and are in a containment room she wakes up and turns into Raven
what a joke :whatever:

Thats one of the malls scenes in the food court that we saw a pic of in one of the magazines.

Too bad the pic is photoshopped, right? lol

He disowned it because its critical reception was horrible. Fox didn't lift the review embargo until the last minute because they knew the movie sucked. That travesty had no chance.

I sort of look at this kind of thing as having multiple factors and shades of gray within those factors. If critics hate a movie, it definitely hurts because people listen to them and there "is" overlap between a bad movie and one that is critically panned (not to say that I think all movies that critics pan are bad movies). A poor critical reception probably hurts the opening of a movie and the worse the reception (think FF), the more the opening is probably going to be hurt. After the movie has been out for awhile, the word of mouth starts to kick in. I think we saw this with BvS and the precipitous drop it took second weekend. Movies that open way up there on OW almost always have at least a 50% drop second weekend, but not the nearly 70% of BvS.

What will happen with X:A? I haven't read up much on it. I certainly plan to go see it and would have only missed it if it got a FF type of reception.

I did love the movie but they need to change some things, can they hire on some actual writers like Claremont,Pak or something to help out with the characterization of certain characters. Maybe a petition would help.

The more I think about it the more I get upset about Jubilee there's just no way they couldn't have utilized her in the final battle or alongside the team in general.

Alot of people are enjoying the X-Men: Apocalypse snapchat filters, well apart from some girls who wanted to look like a puppy apparently

I think it's weird that Jubilee is pictured at the end of that clip alongside everyone given just how little she is in the film.

Yeah. That's a gripe I have about her and Beast in the movie. Sure they have storylines to go with it, but it doesn't feel right they spent so little time in their proper forms.

I didn't like that moment either. Such a weird thing to do from her.
