Apocalypse X-Men Apocalypse News and Discussion - - - - - - - - - - - - Part 40

I did love the movie but they need to change some things, can they hire on some actual writers like Claremont,Pak or something to help out with the characterization of certain characters. Maybe a petition would help.

I know that Claremont worked with Fox on the screenplay for Gambit. I wouldn't mind if he returned with David Hayter who co-wrote X-Men 1 and 2. Simon Kinberg's dialog if often expository rather than natural and often breaks character to engage on exposition.

We also need a new director. Singer struggles with action scenes. The first three X-Men films he directed succeeded due to great character work but once he decided to bring in a villain like Apocalypse, he couldn't handle it. I suggest Joss Whedon who helped with the X-Men 1 script and directed the first two Avengers movies as well as wrote 24 issues of X-Men comics.

Keep Kinberg and Singer aboard as producers where they'll have a say in how the film overall turns out and try to ensure that Fox don't ruin their continuity any more than X-Men: Origins irreversibly did but they'd be a bit lower on the food chain than Lauren Schuler-Donner and Emma Watts.

I would like Claremont just because he knows how to give his female characters a voice and show them as the powerful women they are. He works wonders with Storm and we need someone onboard who understands the character. I'm on the fence with Singer though I do kind of want them to step back and let someone else take the reins for a while. He can still have a say but we need new people on this franchise. As I said I wouldn't mind Wheadon because he did an amazing job in Astonishing to bad we no longer have Emma because he wrote her to perfection.

Emma can still come back. Just say that Weapon X cloned her. In the comics, she was killed off, transferred her consciousness into Iceman's body then got a new cloned body and went on to lead Generation X.

But if she comes back, I'd rather that she appear in New Mutants as the team's leader.

Believe me I'm all for that as long as they can explain it, I just really really don't want January Jones back and I feel if they clone her that would be our only option and it's frankly not what I want. Now if we could get a different Emma I'd be all for it.

She got captured by Trask, was injured during the capture and then tortured/experimented on as scientists examined her mutation, managed to escape... had to have extensive cosmetic surgery to put herself right (and she's vain anyway)... and hey presto, a new Emma Frost...

Simples. :woot:

I didn't have a problem with Jones. If they recast, I'm cool with it but if they don't I'm also cool with it.

But clone Emma needs to want to atone for original Emma's actions.

The jet clip was aired on Jimmy Fallon tonight. It cut out the first part with Jean but was extended at the with with a line from Quicksilver.

What was original Emma's actions? Doing absolutely nothing of value? She literally added nothing to the film. I'm not talking about how much I hated the portrayal, I'm literally talking about how her character was just as pointless as Riptide.

Yeah that could be cool. It's just silly that she has to come back from the dead at all just for the sake of a throwaway line.

Now that I've seen it I really HATE that Lawrence was Lawrence basically

so
Striker catches them and are in a containment room she wakes up and turns into Raven
what a joke :whatever:

Someone might recognize her as the hero.... oh wait she's in the room with people that already saw her real form. :o

Natural dialogue isn't something typically associated with Chris Claremont.

The cast are on GMA (good morning america) live from Time Square. McAvoy, Peters, Shipp, Condor and Sheridan.

One of the GMA hosts is put on make up as Beast.

Does the host look better than the Beast we got in the movie?

From someone who knows how bad Beast make-up could've gone (Hi First Class Beast...Bye First Class Beast), maybe I'm not the best judge...

I think Beast's Apocalypse make up is a huge improvement.

Yeah, it's about as good. They really needed to step that up with some CG enhancement.

She tried to help Shaw foment a war and destroy the United States.

If my friend will come tomorrow, I will watch the movie again. :)

Lol I really want them to recast her though her portrayal fell flat.

Nice I like how you did that, this could work and still get a new actress playing her.

I feel bad for lana condor, she is still promoting the movie like she has a big role it even though she is barely even in it.

i mean it will probably help her career being in the spot light like this but still
