they shot an ending with it has been real stryker fishing him out but in reshoots due to suggestion from Lauren Shueller Donner they changed to it being mystique in disguise.

yeah but kinberg did say they thought about charles and hank fishing him out and say if it ended like that and wolverine wasn't in apocalypse... would that still be a big deal? probably yeah but they clearly didn't have anything planned out, they just knew they had to get logan out the water

there really hasn't been any movement on boba fett since Trank was booted. I'm willing to bet its all but scrapped and going to merge with Han Solo.

Simon will be likely to get anything but a small credit for the film when its all said and done

It feels like Kinberg was booted from that film as well. It was his idea to hire Trank to begin with.

Do the film makers need to clarify if something is a cliff hanger when it's clearly treated in the film as a cliff hanger?

Cliff-hanger: an ending to an episode of a serial drama that leaves the audience in suspense.

We can debate this definition all day, but it isn't my point. The fact is it's an unnecessary plot thread that didn't go anywhere. It should have been excised as it just further convolutes this already ridiculously convoluted franchise. They shouldn't have added the glint in his eye signifying that it was Mystique. There was no payoff.

How is it a cliffhanger though? Raven was seen rescuing Havok and the mutants in Saigon. Raven rescued Logan by taking him from the authorities, like how she will do so for ten years (and with Nightcrawler) in Apocalypse. People are reading too much into it. It wasn't meant to tie into Logan and Weaponx X, it was about Raven saving Logan because it's what she does now and to show Logan survives. They part ways then Logan gets captured by Stryker some time after.

Wait, so Wolverine was saved by Mystique disguised as Stryker, then escaped, and then caught by the real Stryker...? That's clunky, and defies Occam's razor.
It was 100% about tying Wolverine into weapon X. I've even heard the film makers regard it as such, hinting that time is like a river in that you can throw a rock in and temporarily change the course, but the stream will always correct itself.

See storm and Magneto typically fly with sort of a majestic presence.. so i don't think wire work is really wrong for them... it should be softer unless in heated battle. but yes, storms cape needs to be CGI.. not the costume, just the cape

I actually liked how they had Magneto hovering in this film though his had a majestic presence to it mostly. It was just Storm was erratic with how they had her flying

. Even they had Angels looking good. I would down with them having Storm hover gracefully about the only time I saw that was DOFP though she wasn't high I like how they made her look. They can be pretty inconsistent with things like that I wouldve liked a majestic flying scene from her, though it was a couple were I actually liked how they did it. I would love to see Storm with a CGI cape just to see how it looks on the big screen.

yes.. he'd be a mercenary and right hand man.

please... like that is hard to swallow.. if you can some how manage to suspend belief that from one movie to the next no one ages 10 years and the films pic up almost in the same place many were left by the previous films end.. if they didn't constantly reference the past decades... or decade hop at all the stories would still play out the same exact way with little change... they'd actually have probably transitioned smoother.

the only big change between decades was Xavier from FC to DOFP.. other than that it could have been a year between films and they would have played out the exact same

Kinberg is still writing a spin-off film.what it will be noone knows.kasden was always writing the han solo origin film.reportly trank was suspose to do the solo film untill his incomptendce and behaviour on FF set came back to bit him in the butt.whatever kinberg is suspose to be doing wouldn't be out till 2020 at least.

We actually do not know what happened really, X2 i believe stryker told logan he agreed to the experiment and Origins backed it up with the reason, but when people talk about it here its often seen as he was obviously caught by stryker even though there has been no reason we would think that had to be the only option.

Occam's razor would suggest that Wolverine being caught by someone passing for Stryker would put him in the same arena as Stryker, his cronies, and the rest of weapon X, which means that's probably how he got involved. If not, it, again, further convolutes things.
None of this has anything to do with the original point. The cliff hanger was dumb and should have been excised because it didn't go anywhere and didn't add anything to either story.

The end credit scene of X3 offers a cliffhanger, DOFP opens with no explanation, its just skipped over.

DOFP didn't really follow up on the FC ending and characters were killed off screen with no explanation.

So with this franchise yeah you do kinda need to know whats a cliff hanger and whats not important.

I saw the Mystique ending to DOFP more as an exclamation that they were going to do things different (It was also a last minute change) as opposed to a "cliff-hanger" - you can't really have a cliff-hanger when the plot picks up ten years later, which was always the plan more or less.

Having said that, the fact that they didn't take Logan's story in a different direction at all rendered it pointless. I think they didn't know how they could give him back his metal claws and couldn't come up with anything better.

Making him "Death" might've been the way to go, but maybe they couldn't afford Jackman and wanted to sort of test to see if the franchise can survive without him anyway.

It's not that much worse than what some of the MCU movies have done. Thor destroying the bi-frost was a "personal sacrifice" in Thor because he wouldn't be able to get back to earth, but he did no problem in the Avengers.

Singer probably wanted to stick to the weapon X idea since without it logan would keep all his memories and it wouldn't be wolverine, unless you pretty much do everything the exact same way with apocalypse.

Remember in days of future the pebble in the river analogy? There are ripples but the course corrects itself. Wolverine will become Wolverine one way or another.

This Weapon X origin is FAR different than the one we could have got because of mystique, and that's what I think DOFP is trying to tell us, again re-writing the history we were shown with X-Men Origins automatically. Which excited us as fans and corrected things that needed to be corrected.


Mystique SAVED logan from dying/drowning under water and went on her way. Thus creating an entirely different path in which Wolverine goes on. This also allowed the original trilogy Logan to finally wake up in the distant future.

Without Mystique saving Logan we would not have gotten Deadpool as he is now. We would have gotten that Weapon 11 shiz.

She even does this very thing in DOFP with the mutant soldiers in Vietnam. She saved them and just goes on about her way because the "enemy is still out there" She can't hang around and be Stryker all the damn time. What would be the point? What are you guys expecting? I just don't understand.

In the film verse, just look at X-Men: Origins as to what could have happened had Mystique not interfered, it's completely different. Cyclops included. The end of DOFP was ENOUGH. It was a finished twist. It wasn't a cliffhanger twist.

And it would be interesting to know what "happy memory" Jean has given back to Logan, maybe he already been to Charles school? What happened to his memory, he blackout i think and that could be nice for the caracter. Logan is went back to the future because he was the only one who could take. The mind and the body know slaughter and by going back he does that to is alternate self. He leave a scar.
