Dark Phoenix in the next film, which will likely kill her off so it wont matterAlthough I was pleased to see it happen, I am a little concerned and disappointed about the film unveiling Phoenix so early on. Again it appears that very little forethought was given to the franchise's future. By revealing her full potential so early it puts a cap or ceiling on what the films can really do next. Any villain they face is going to be likely less powerful than Apocalypse. But all they have to do now is put Jean in front of that challenge and have her vaporize it. Where will the struggle come from for the other X-Men? What incentive is there for them to really learn to work together as a team when all they have to do is turn to Jean and have her handle whatever cataclysmic issue faces them? I can see a codependence developing for these characters much in the same way that Wokverine was when he was around.
I would've preferred Jean to have a larger arc and struggle to figure out who she is and how to discover and then master her abilities. There's no build up or anticipation now.
Like I said, I was truly excited to see the Phoenix in its full glory. But where do they go from here?

Wow, people really think Cyclops got shafted again? Never mind the fact he's introduced as the main protagonist of all the new X-Men, has an entire scene where he leads the young team to save the old one, and an entire monologue on how his brother believed he'll accomplish way more than he did.
Mystique is just there for training. They spell it pretty clear that he'll be their field leader.
where are you getting that from? Its not somethign I think Ive read here.
Mystqiue's role is very reminiscent to Emma's in Generation X. She's the mentor of the teens.
