Random thought: Apocalypse using the TV to learn about the world gets a lot of flack (admittedly the way it's done is pretty hokey) but I don't actually hate it. Apocalypse hates the superficiality of the world and the TV stands in for that. The celebrities and politicians you see on TV are the false gods Apocalypse is talking about. He's been replaced by coca cola.
Related to TV, I think Legion could be pretty good. His last solo in the comics was quite good.

Legion has the talent, so I'm sure it will be amazing. Even if it isn't connected to the movies.

Patrick has noticeably aged, plus the way this timeline is set up xavier in DOFP would have been in his 90s so the original trilogy he would have been at least in his 80s

DOFP was in 2023. The original trilogy is in the 2000's so Xavier would be in his 70's during that point. Patrick is still age appropriate for the role of Xavier even if he's 10 years older than the character was in the 90's. Plus, people would have a hard time buying James McAvoy as a 60-year old Xavier because he still looks like his First Class self (he didn't even look like a 50 year old in Apocalypse) .

my theater pissed me off tonight i was forced to watch x men in 3d because my 2d showing accidentally played the 3d version and the ushers were rushing in with glasses before movie started lol

on top of that they played a behind the scenes featurette of XMA before the film started showing a bunch of footage of the movie we were about to watch lol

I love coca cola. :)

Did anyone else listen to the Empire Podcast with Bryan Singer? The guy asked about if Apocalypse was meant to be a one-off villain (regarding his death) and he said,[BLACKOUT] "Apocalypse is destroyed, some Horsemen survive, he has very unique powers, it's a 'anything goes' situation with his demise.. I want it to be 'non-specific'." So could he return in a future movie? It seems like he has planned for it perhaps with Apocalypse transferring his mind into Psylocke who walked away.[/BLACKOUT]

Really?

I saw this again today and it still holds up for me. Sure, it's far, far, far from a perfect film, but the X-Men fan in me was pleased. If there's one complaint I have it's Angel as one of the Horseman. I'd much preferred they saved the character to use as an actual member of the X-Men someday. That fourth Horseman slot could have easily been filled by a character like the Juggernaut. I'm dying to see the Juggernaut again. Shame Singer really doesn't seem to care about the strength oriented mutants/characters.

I was able to appreciate Sophie Turner as Jean Grey more this time around. She's such a perfect casting choice. I didn't hit me as strongly the first time, but this second viewing seeing her step forward in the final battle gave me chills.

The OT would be around 2013 and Patrick would be nearly 80 when by the time they started plannin that period movie, he has noticeable aged and would reguire CGI

That's great to know. :)

Havocs death had emotional weight unlike Scotts in X3

Havok got his cool moment in cerebro and that's more then Scott got in X3 but havoks death was still just bad

There were ways to make his death heroic without being stupid

I think they could easily bring him back with Sinister coming into the picture.

Havok's death had more weight in comparison to Scott's, but in context of Apocalypse it was also mishandled.

His death is revealed both during and after the Quicksilver sequence which just fell flat. As brilliant as that sequence is it is quite jarring during what is otherwise a feel good music video moment to realise they're showing a major character death. Afterwards when told about Havok's death Quicksilver saying he thought he saved everyone comes off more as unconcerned and non-chalant than it conveys any sense of guilt or remorse. It's only Cyclops that seems to show a significant reaction regarding his brother's death.

This coupled with much of this being handled off screen (ala Scott in X3) it does take away from something that should be much more impactful.

The emotions for his brother came when they are in the helycopter, wich felt more intimate. Maybe when the house was destroyed everybody had already a lot on their minds. Quicksilver is over confident in his speed for sur, but it's a good twist on the character since he still leave in his mom'basement

I don't think the audience would be emotional for Havok's death either. He's not the star in the movie.

Bit of strange thing to say. Forget that he was one of the stars of First Class, the older brother of one of the main characters and one of the good guys. We're somehow not meant to care for him because he didn't get top billing?

I had a family emergency so I wasn't able to watch the film as early as I planned. I went in with low expectations and was actually very nervous before it started but I must say that I enjoyed it a lot. Sure, it was flawed and I can see where the complaints are coming from but I thought there are a lot of really enjoyable scenes especially involving the new cast members. I'd give it a 8/10. :D

I don't know why they mixed that with a comedy scene. Took away the potential impact for me.

Aside from that, he's not a very popular hero.

I can see why you don't care for him, but that doesn't mean the filmakers didn't drop the ball if they failed to make the audience care for him.

Having seen what's capable on TV these days, between shows like Daredevil and Flash, I'd love to have a proper X-Men series on TV.

Start with the original team, and It could follow a basic X-Men evolution premise.

The audience care about havok because he was in FC and DOFP aswell as apocalypse so he isn't a new character, but honestly i don't see how his death could have had any impact at all even if the quicksilver scene felt more serious, there isn't many ways it wouldn't have been embarrassing, its not like before apocalypse left he set the jet to blow and havok was just to close to it... no havok blew the jet up and killed himself.

I mean even if you think well its havok so he went out creating havok... then you could still have done it way better then that.

I do but the impact of his death wouldn't be big. Remember Darwin from First Class?

Are you guys happy with the new, comic-booky suits?

Yes. Especially when they get out of the Danger Room lighting. Though, I would imagine they would get a bit of an upgrade once they are the main suits used in a movie.
